Jungle Cruise Overhaul

Is it bad I'd want the big referb to be the plussing of Small World adding characters into scenes?
The DLR version has characters in it- it was cute, but I'd be a little surprised if that were the refurb. I can totally see them doing this for the 50th though!

The most endearing aspect of the ride is poking fun of the ride. I bet Walt would be all for a significant overhaul of Jungle Cruise that both kept true to the theme but took advantage of new technology instead of bad jokes to keep it entertaining. I wonder when they were building Pandora how many times the words were uttered, "we really should do this for Jungle Cruise."

THIS exactly! It is SOOOO FAAAAAR past time for a rehab of this ride. Please do this - yesterday!

I wish they would drain the river, fill it in and build something that isn't awful. Short of that - I'll take any remake. I thought it was a natural spot to do something with Tiana - but they have her selling ice cream -and they won't kill a cash cow.

What also needs to go is The Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse. And The Country Bears.

That's why I said that could be the major referb I also heard rumors of tiki getting some new management yet again

Just think if they had updated the Haunted Mansion for that abysmal movie. I don't mind the movie coming out. In fact, it might be pretty cool. However, I barely like Capt Jack Sparrow in Pirates, so this might make me cry.

This. The movies are based on the rides, not the rides on the movies. I hate Jack Sparrow in Pirates. I don't mind maybe an update to the hippos but otherwise, nope.

I don't hate jack sparrow on pirates but all the other "pluses" I could live without. I miss the skeleton guy that used to be mounted over the drop

I heard that the ride upgrades featuring the Rock will be titled ... "Mutha Nature" ... the story will be about a multi-faceted environmental disaster and it will feature audience participation, video screens and a new, advanced, track-based ride vehicle ...

I've never been a Jungle Cruise fan. We mostly only ride it when it doesn't have a wait and we're in the area and give each other a kind of "why not?" look. I appreciate the nostalgia of it, but I look at the animatronics and just think how they could replace them with new updated ones and how it would give the ride such a different feel. I felt it had so much lost potential. I'm happy to see it get a refurb although I too am not opposed to filling it with sand and putting something else there.

Rarely write on these boards, but Jungle Cruise has been a pass for my family since they opened Animal Kingdom. It just seems odd looking at animal AA's when you can see the real thing.

Well if you get to see the real thing at Animal Kingdom.......

For the little ones, Jungle Cruise is better... as they don't really get that these are not real animals. Yes for us adults it a little boring and corny - not sure how first time visitor view this old ride. But those of us that grew up on it, want to see it stay. Plus a good Skipper and some audience participation can go along way in making it a fun tour of Adventure Land. So an update to fix things that don't/haven't worked, and to make things more life like.... would be a good thing in my view. Especially if the Volcano rumor are true... might also add a new element to the JC.

I don't think I've ever known a child to be naïve enough to not know these were robots.

Jungle cruise needs some work. We did the Christmas overlay in 2015 and it was seriously the worst thing we did all week--and I love Disney! We never ride it now. With an update, I'd consider it. We are bringing first timers in January and I may suggest it to them for the nostalgia of it if they could get a fourth or subsequent fast pass. Otherwise, not worth the time.

Have you ridden Jungle Cruise at night? It definitely kick-started my love for the ride. Completely different vibe. I also found the Skippers to be a wee bit more adult in their humor after dark. It is WDW so not wildly adult. Still a great way to refresh your interest in a classic. I'm OK with small changes a la PoC. I love Dwayne but I definitely do not want to see him popping out of the bushes at me around every bend. There are enhancements and then there are . . . yikes.

Skipper: Uh oh everyone, looks like we are between a rock and The Rock!

so basically you want to get rid of three of my favorite attractions :scared:

hey, there is a reason there are 31 flavors of ice cream! Can't we just add to things rather than getting rid of them?

I think our family is the exact opposite of what you just described .... when we do the Jungle Cruise my wife and I are having a ball and sometimes saying the puns along with the skipper, while our kids just roll their eyes - meanwhile they could do the Kilimanjaro Safari 100 times in a row or spend hours on the walking trails or at Rafiki's Planet watch
