I'm starting to plan our 2006 trip. The first time my whole family went was in October 2002. The crowds and weather were perfect!! I don't want to take the kids out of school again because I will have one in high school and one in junior high. So I'm thinking either around June 3rd or mid August. If we went in August we would have to be home by the 21st. Which time would be better?

Voting for June. We have better luck rain-wise in June (could be luck), plus it isn't nearly as hot.

I think mid August will be less crowded than early June. But the heat will be more relentless and the thunderstorms will be more frequent in August. We love going in August!

We were at WDW at the end of July/beginning of August this past summer, and the parks were far less crowded than during our late May visit. We took the Keys to the Kingdom tour on a Saturday, and our tour guide even commented on the low numbers. Also, July/August was no hotter than May. (Surprisingly, Orlando was a good 15 degrees cooler than here at home, where we had been having 100+ degree temps every day.)

Thank you for posting this! Was going to ask the same question except our weeks are May 24 - June 5 or Aug 20 - Sept 1.

IMO the heat is the same in June or Aug. The crowds are usually less from mid aug on because the schools down south go back by the second week. I have done both several times and usually hit good weather. There is an occasional storm but you just go with it!!!
