June/July/August 2006 Code watch

Good morning, all!

I called this morning to book a second set of ressies. We'd originally booked 6/30-7/5 but with the way things are looking, I wasn't sure there'd be codes for the beginning dates of that trip. Without codes for those dates, we'd have to stay at a different resort than we'd really hoped for. Also, I'm reading a lot about the craziness of the crowds on the 4th and my DS with Autism might not handle that too well!

ANYWAY...I called this morning to book 7/7-7/11 at WL and 7/11-7/15 at AKL. I talked to "Breeze," a very friendly CM, and she said that I could book the rooms at AAA rates and then just apply the AP codes when they came out. (She said when and not if.) She said "isn't it very late?" for the summer AP codes to be released this year and said they were all surprised at how late it was. Just like everyone else, she said "they should be out really soon," and to just call back as soon as they're released and they will apply the code towards the already reserved rooms.

I really hope that some June codes are released for all the people who have waited so patiently. I'm sort of a little less stressed that our dates are a week later because at least I'm into Value season for WL and AKL, so it's a little more affordable at AAA rates.

Feeling good about this week...I just wish I could go in late to work every day so I could stay and check the boards each morning!

Fingers crossed for Monday!

:rolleyes1 :goodvibes

Okay, here is where I am confused. I was told the same thing several times, that they will apply the rate to the already reserved room. But then I have read on SEVERAL occassions that there is a seperate block of rooms for the AP rate and they cancel and rebook your reservation. Which is it? I think that maybe they don't want you to think that they are applying the rate to the already reserved room but they are. Could that be true? I don't know but it is confusing to me. :confused3

I have never had to change my ressie # when I have had the ap applied before so I don't believe they cancel it. I think sometimes not all CMs know what to do and do cancel, but they don't have to.

Not all reservations can have the ap rate applied though. If it's not available to book then you can't apply it. For example, if all the AKL standard ap rates sell out, then I can't have it applied to my reservation.

By the way...on another topic as I read through these this morning. If CMs don't know when the codes are coming out then they don't know what dates they will be for either. So, CMs saying that dates will be skipped I believe is speculation on their part. I'm not saying that don't won't be skipped, I'm saying the CMs are just expressing their opinion and based on Easter week and Memorial Day being skipped I think it's very likely. Maybe one knows the Code God Personally and knows for sure 100%, but the others don't know for sure.

I checked the web site last night & didn't see them, are they only on sale via telephone???
My friend I was watching for called and bought their tickets today and made dining reservations for LTT for the Halloween party. I keep reading too that the dining line has been more successful for people so maybe call the 1-800 number and select the dining option. From the sounds of it, they are on sale again. Perhaps the system is up and running now.

When I called earlier, I was VERY specific about asking whether I'd need to cancel and make new ressies if the AP codes were released. I told her that if that were the case, I'd just book at the rack rates and keep my fingers crossed for the AP codes. She said that I could definitely book now at AAA rates and then when the AP codes came out to just call back and they'll take the discount off of the rooms I'd reserved.
I'd always thought in the past that they had a block of rooms set aside and held for the AP rates, but maybe that's not so....I'm just not sure.
Right now, we have WL Courtyard View and AKL Savanah View reserved. If codes are released, I'm going to first ask if they have any less expensive views available at AP rates, but if they don't, I'll stick with the rooms we have.
Also...
When I booked our first block of room at AAA rate, the CM never asked for my AAA number. This time, she did ask for it. I gave her my number, but asked if they usually request it at time of booking. She said they don't need it until check-in but it speeds up the process if they have it ahead of time.

I think there is a block of rooms, but it's like a pool they draw from. Does that make sense? Not that I know anything about it since I don't run the computers :rotfl2: Meaning, it's taken out of that block from inventory. I'm slap happy again!

With tickets being sold today for the parties. I'm up and dressed early Monday am! Here's hoping.

And, if the CM says right away says no, I'm going to ask them to double check. I called about the new character meal at MGM. I asked the CM to check the menu/times and he said that there wasn't a character meal at MGM. I told him that I just talked to another CM not more than 10 minutes earlier that told me it started in June. He typed on his computer and said "oh, blah, blah, blah" and gave me the info! He had said that they had not received any info on that meal before he even checked. Slacker!!

I'm keeping my sons' lightsabers crossed for June discounts so we can really enjoy Star Wars Weekend knowing we saved a bit!

She is right, you don't have to cancel. They just apply the rates. However, I have read plenty of folks on here who called and couldn't get the AP rate applied because the rate was sold out. The computer controls how many rooms the rate can be applied to, once the # of rooms is gone, they are gone....

You said it so much better than I did :)
I wonder if the lower end rooms of the deluxe resorts for the summer will even be offered. If they are to fill rooms, those rooms are full so perhaps only the more expensive rooms will have an ap rate.

What has been the past discount for Summer Rooms AP rate for deluxe resorts?

The current rate is $100 off right?

ski

That will be an issue as well.
Up till July 4th is regular season and after that is value for deluxe resorts.
What will they do with this.

Currently, the ap rate if $100 off deluxe resorts, yes.
Last year, after 7/4 was $75 off, but the rooms were cheaper then too.

Thanks for the info on the rooms. I think I feel better. Now I just have to hope that they put my room on sale. :)

Does anyone think there will be any general public codes for July. I want to upgrade.

Thanks so much for clarifying! You too, Eeyore! I normally leave for work a little before 7:00 am, but I have a feeling I'll be getting ready early and waiting as long as I can before racing out the door. I might even be a little late when and if they're finally released! I just hope it's either first thing in the morning or late afternoon. Otherwise, I might miss out after all the work and energy put into this!

Still anxious, but I'm feeling more optimistic!

I am worrying and wondering about June codes. I think they may release after July 4th and forget about the month of June. Looking back at the historical release dates of AP codes and Fl Res. codes I do not see anytime that a June code came out with the July 4th - August one when it is already May. Of course, I hope to be wrong in my feeling.

I have ressies at the end of June but now I am thinking I should change them. I can still get in under the code going until June 3rd and just go on our trip earlier than planned. I could go anytime after May 29th. I can't go later in the summer in July because my son has hockey camp in Canada then school begins again first week of August.

What should I do??

Here's hoping for tomorrow! Starting to cramp up from keeping my fingers, toes and everything crossed for so long! :rotfl:

Thanks mky. We're leaving for WDW this morning so looks like I'll be logging on from the Hampton Inn tomorrow morning. :( What a pain. I was SO hoping they would be out before we left.

Oh well...at least I'm off to see Mickey!!!! :Pinkbounc
