June comes before August & the APs will still be valid! I think we're done here!

It is a Nikon lens. He was kind of acting like it wasn't a useful lens, but I think he was trying to convince me that he needs another one. We did look at some online, but he said he will wait. He does have to buy a memory card because it didn't come with one. But he says he is "confused" about the high capacity card. You would think with all the flippin' cameras in this house that SOME memory card we already own would work.

I am glad I don't know how to sew. I might be in a crazed frenzy to make stuff. ;)

I cashed out DS's online survey account so he will be getting a check for $16. I am not really sure how much money he needs for Universal since we've never been there. He hasn't been saving any money for the trip, and since I don't have access to a Disney Store anymore he doesn't get weekly Disney Dollars. He has a couple of Disney gift cards, and he never buys much at WDW anyway, so it should be fine.

Once DH's statement closes for May I will load his reward dollars.

I finished making the tip envelopes but they don't have money in them yet. I am not sure how to tip the Town Car guy. We are going AKL to Hard Rock, back to AKL the next day, then to the airport 9 days later. As of now I am planning to tip for each leg in case we don't have the same driver each time. Hopefully that won't be an issue. I am guessing we pay the fee for all 3 legs up front the first time we are picked up? We have only had a Town Car one other time, and that was more than 5 years ago.

Not sure which company you are using (I have a hunch... same one Kristine and I use?!?) but you do pay in full on the initial pick-up. Our tip has always been included in the amount due, I think!

Thanks, Elin!! Yes, that's the one. :) If the gratuity is just added in with the total I guess I won't need to separate it out. Good to know! Thanks!!

Looking forward to your TR from your weekend! I saw your pics on FB. I can't wait to go back to AKL. :goodvibes

I REALLY need to get my TR going. Real life has smacked me upside the head since I got home and I haven't even had time to do laundry until 6:00 this morning! But soon... I hope!

I was wrong about our :sunny: town car company... Their confirmation email to me says: We accept cash or traveler check only. Price is total, no other fees or taxes but does not include gratuity. The industry standard for
gratuity is 20% if you feel you received good service.

I would email thatBob and ask how you should handle the gratuity.

Hmm. Perhaps I should ask him so I will be prepared. I think I should also warn him about the copious amounts of luggage we have so he will send a large enough car when we go back to the airport. :rolleyes1 He is going to hate Kristine for referring me! :rotfl2:

I just use an SD card in my D90. I would think that is what he uses in his other dSRL's? I've used cheap standard ones, "ultra" ones and "extreme" ones. I've had the most problems with the most expensive ones. I've been very happy with my 18-200 lens but it is rather expensive ($750).

hmm....I found my rewards card yesterday but haven't transfered any rewards to it. I usually wait until I really get to the hotel in Orlando to do it.

I think I made 6 envelopes. I may have some left over but if not I'm not going to worry about it. They aren't stuffed yet.

Still hoping to get those shorts done before we leave....

I've been using that same towncar service. You pay the fare when you arrive at your first stop. I did a grocery stop in May so I gave him a $20 tip and he said "are you sure?, I might not be the one driving you back to the airport." I told him I was sure and tipped him again at the return trip to the airport. I've been VERY happy with their service!!!

Joe went to school this morning. I am very fearful that Lizzy or Emma will think Wednesday morning is a good time to come down with it.:scared: Both girls seem fine but Joe was fine Thursday night.

A huge 10 foot water main broke over the weekend here in MA. It is a water main that feeds water from the huge reservoir in the Western part of the state to much of the Eastern part of the state. There are backup reservoirs but 2,000,000 folks are under a boil water order. We don't have to worry at home but my MIL is in that water district as is my office. I wasn't thinking this morning-should have brought my own lunch as the cafe is on a limited menu due to not having any water to cook/clean with. The water main is fixed but they think it will be another 48 hours before they lift the boil order. The airport will be in the same boat. Guess I won't be able to get coffee-will have to have bottle soda for cafine bright and early Wednesday.

I think DH is under the impression that he needs a high capacity SD card for the Nikon. We do have plain SD cards. I will tell him to try one and see if it will work. Chances are he doesn't need the high capacity one.

I guess I will go ahead and do separate tip envelopes for the Town Car driver, and if it appears a different procedure is in order I will hand him all 3 at once! :rotfl2:

I hope the girls stay healthy!

Good luck with the water thing. That sounds like a pain.

He got a 50mm and a memory card. I think that's all he is going to buy before the trip. We looked at lenses on KEH, Adorama, Overstock, Best Buy, etc. and they are just all so pricey! He needs to sell the Sony stuff before he buys anything else for the Nikon.

The desktop keeps overheating and crashing, so I am afraid we are going to have to address that little problem soon.

I see they lifted the boil order! Hopefully things will go well for your departure! :wizard:

Did he try the 35mm? Is the 50mm really going to be all that different?:confused3

Not that I am a pro or anything but photography is a little hobby of mine. I find a huge difference between a 35mm and a 50mm. 35mm is a much wider angle. So great if you are taking a group shot or a picture of a building. Not so great for a picture of one person or say a plate of food on a Disney trip.:goodvibes

I think 50mm is a good walkaround prime lens. I'm sure your husband and his lens will be very happy together, Elizabeth.:lmao:

Your Packing Mandate inspired me to make a spreadsheet for my trip. I needed to figure out how many pairs of shorts my boys have and what we'll need for the summer and for our trip. We leave on August 4th so 3 months from today!

I know he has a 50mm for the Sony, and he probably has one for the Oly, too. I take most of the food pics with a p&s.

Yay for a spreadhseet!!
I am a little sad not to be going in August this year. :guilty: I really like to be at WDW on my birthday!

So I was reading about the DVC member tours of BLT, and I decided we should do that. I was telling DH about it on the phone. So we hang up, and I get an e-mail from Disney Visa saying if we add on 50 pts. we will get a $900 American Airlines gift card. Uh oh. :rolleyes1 So I phoned our guide to ask him some questions. Luckily he wasn't in his office. I kind of think there may be a 50 pt. add-on in our future. Maybe. It depends. But it is possible. Unless you ask DH - he will tell you there is NO WAY. But our guide is smart. He knows if he deals with me there could EASILY be an add-on. ;)

But...with most dSLR's and with the D90 the lens is really 1 1/2 times that so the 35 is really shooting at 52.5mm. In the old days of film SLR's the 50mm was the "prime" lens.

I think he should have tried out the 35mm a bit before buying the 50mm.:rolleyes1

He gets his 50 lens. You get 50 points. Sound fair to me.:thumbsup2

I'm pretty sure that a "prime" lens is one that doesn't change the focal length. So the 35mm is still a prime lens, it is just a wide angle lens, even considering the multipliers.

You have to understand that I am an enabler when it comes to photography equipment. I've asked for another portable hard drive, a gorilla pod and a lens baby for Mother's Day. It is a sickness, I tell you!

We're not DVC members but I got a Disney Rewards email today, too. If we join DVC we get a $900 American Airlines giftcard. I forwarded it to my husband as a Mother's Day suggestion. Ha!

I just read the teeny print at the bottom of the e-mail. It says you can't combine it with any other offer. Well, let me tell you, we are NOT likely to add on at $112 per point when resales are going for about $88 per point. So we'll see. It would be delightful of the guide to call me back NOW while I am not busy, as opposed to an hour from now when I will be VERY busy.
