June 9, 2012 Fantasy

Totally unexpected, but DH, DS, and I will be joining you on the cruise! We got a great offer from DVC for the cruise and were already going to be down in Florida, so we jumped on it. I originally had the same cruise booked for DS and I for the August 4th sailing in a cat. 9D. Now DH gets to join us and we're in a cat. 4A...and it's $2.14 LESS!

31 days until we set sail. Can't wait.

Great to see you here, AStamm! Your DVC deal sounds awesome! How great that you got the verandah for the price of an oceanview!

We're relatively recent bookers as well, jumping on the cheaper OGT rates that were recently made available.

I haven't checked in for a while, so just saying hello! Still no room number - my dad is checking the DCL website daily for room assignments and Palo Brunch - and it's only his first cruise! I'll make a DISer of him yet!

I finished my packing list, so it's time to get busy packing! :) I went ahead and posted my packing lists in my Drop Box, so if you are interested, or if you want to see what I left out, you can take a look!

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/jkhhjgb0a1vp1ww/uXZSqddo-g

There is a list for girls, boys, Him, Her (adults), as well as the famous Miscellaneous list. I did notice I left off duct tape, which is apparently very important. Even more so since I'll have my extended family onboard! :rotfl2:

Can't wait to start packing, but I have my son's birthday party on the 20th! I guess I'll start after that - maybe I'll just gather things for now and put them all together in the spare room.

Have we decided on a place for a meet?

Hi and welcome to the June 9th crew!.... very fun group!:goodvibes
Counting days now!!!!

@3luv2travel...I don't know if the cake is for a birthday or something else, but both my DS and I had our birthdays on our first DCL cruise. I bought a cake because he was turning 5. It turns out I didn't need to do so because we each got one in the MDR on our respective birthdays. You may receive similar pixie dust too.

It has been my expience too that if you alert DCL, you do get a small cake at dinner on you BD for free (or whatever date you ask for, as long as you say you are celebrating). However, the cake is kinda stiff and not as good as ANY of the regular dining dessert choices ..... but it's all good.... it is a free cake!

It's just awesome to be celebrating Disney cruise style either way!!!!:cool1:

Great to see you here, Lori! I know some Palo times just opened up recently, but they were only for dinner and not brunch. Still, I was glad to be able to get one!

I'm checking the DCL website daily too. But based on what everyone else with GT rates is experiencing, I suspect I'll be getting my cabin assignment on Monday, May 28th. Can't wait! :D

Hello again!!! We are booked on this cruise again thanks to a great offer from DVC!!! We are doing B2Bs with the June 16th sailing! Cant wait!

Hello all!!
We had originally booked a cruise in November, but like the others said, the DVC offer was too good to pass up. I've been a long time lurker but new poster, so I have a lot to catch up on. Anyway hope to meet some new people on the cruise (our first with DCL). Just reading the posts has me really excited, so I requested the Facebook thing also.

Thanks,
Chris, Cindy & Tyler(9) Zemko

Great to have you here, Chris! It looks like your son Tyler will be meeting up with my son (also age 9) in the Oceaneer Lab.

I agree, that DVC deal is awesome! And it makes me slightly jealous too. ;) But I'm so glad we're getting fun Disney fans on the ship!

Just think! One month from today we'll all be onboard enjoying the ship...

Hello DVC cruisers, welcome to the thread! That rate you guys are getting is crazy good. If I hadn't booked the first possible day with an OBB discount I'd probably be crying in a corner somewhere.

Have we decided on a place for a meet?

I am working on it... leaning toward the deck overlooking the pool on whatever the non-smoking side of the ship is. I'll try to finalize it soon. :)

We just gave in to temptation and booked today. The DVC discount was too good to pass up. Great deal!

DW and I turned down a 4A for a 4B on deck 8. It was so fast, I don't think it has sunk in yet.

We are on deck 8. See ya in a couple weeks neighbor.

Just booked this cruise last night for myself, DW, DS(18), DD(16), DS(9) and DD(9). We are all so excited (except the twins who will not find out until we arrive at the port - it is a surprise 10th birthday present for them). Spent all day reading this entire thread. Exhausting. Now to tackle reading through all the postings on the FB group.

Glad to see so many teenagers. My son (almost 19) just finished his first year of college at UCF and never has trouble meeting people and making friends, so I am sure he will easily meet people in the 18-20 y.o. college group. My daughter (almost 17), on the other hand, spent our last Disney cruise following DW and I around everywhere we went and trying (somewhat successfully) to make us feel guilty when we tried to go to the adult areas of the ship. At that time, she was just a little to young for the teen group and didn't want to hang out with the "younger" kids in the 11-13 y.o. group. She has promised us that this time she will not follow us around. We shall see...

I know you guys will have a great time! I'm so glad you could grab a deal and join us on this wonderful new ship!

I can imagine how thrilled your daughters will be to find out what's going on!

My son will be going off to UCF in the fall. :) I'm glad to see some more people in the 18-21 group. I've been mildly worried about him not enjoying himself so much on his graduation cruise because he won't meet anyone without access to the teen area, but it looks like that probably won't be an issue. No doubt I'm worrying for no reason anyway, but hey, I'm a mom.

Lol, you just never know, do you? Our very first DCL my son was 8 and we had read that you never see your kids, so we figured some parent time was forthcoming. Not so much. He was quiet and didn't want anything to do with the club except during open video game time. He stuck like glue to us. Next cruise he was 11 and we planned a lot of family activities since he didn't like the kid areas so much. Guess what? He went in the first night and I don't think we ever saw him again until we left the ship. Always an adventure, isn't it? :)

Welcome to all the new members of the group! I'm glad that you were able to take advantage of such a great DVC deal!!! See you in less than a month :cool1:

Thanks for the info about cakes, eyeoremommy and joius24. I'll call about her birthday tonight or tomorrow.:bday:

Welcome!

We went on the Dream in May last year for my DS's 8th birthday! I gave him treasure maps with clues along the way...it went great. Until we got to the Magical Express line at the airport. He just knew we were going to Disney World - we had been before -and then refused to get in line for the "Big Boat."

"But I've never been on a big boat; I'm not going."

Needless to say, he got on the bus, and loved the ship from the moment he saw it when we passed over the bridge at Port Canaveral. Don't surprise a Type A kid. Lesson learned :)

I hope your kids' birthday goes great! Welcome to the group!
