June 9, 2012 Fantasy

We are desperately trying to book this morning. We just have to get the dates OKd by my husbands boss. I'm pretty sure he'll say yes - the only wrinkle is that we'd be gone during an important phone migration. GACK!

We even have a reservation on hold, just waiting for the news! I swear the waiting is going to turn me entirely grey. :scared:

We never thought we would be able to afford a Disney cruise. I've been dreaming about it for at least 10 years! This DVC deal is a a near miracle, so it has to go through, doesnt it?

It will be myself (40), my husband (40), my son (16) and my daughter (13). I would love for my kids to connect to others their age before we leave - especially my daughter.

I've sent a request for the Facebook group and I'm going to try and get up to speed in record time. We leave for our long planned DVC trip on June 3rd!

We're also from Central IL. :wave2:

Sending pixie dust your way!!! :wizard:

Hope you'll be joining us!

Okay, that's why I didn't know! Amy has her own email. We're in California as well (SF Bay Area). I'll ask after school to see if your message arrived.

We're also in Northern CA (Sacramento), I grew up in the Bay Area (Sunnyvale). Nicole said she sent an email around 7:00 PM last night just as an introduction. She then had to leave and was at her grandmothers until 9:00 and could not check to she if Amy had replied, I'll have her check this evening.

Its a done deal! :cheer2: We're sailing with all of you wonderful Dis-ers!!!

Now I just have to book excursions and figure out anything else I need to arrange ahead of time. Then I have to start packing!!!

Welcome aboard! DCL is as addicting as any other Disney destination, maybe more. Prepare to be assimilated!

My DD is also 13, I'm sure she'd be willing to email with yours if she would like. There is also a teen/tween group on FB. Not sure if there are any other 13s, but there are 12s and 14s I know.

Glad everything worked out for you and you were able to join us! :)

Small world! I grew up in Sacramento and now live in Penryn, CA. Where abouts in Sacramento are you?
Are you flying out of Sacramento? We are leaving Friday night on the 8th.

So glad to have another local family going! :yay:

Thank you! I'm just thrilled that it worked out too - it was a pretty harrowing morning for me, while I waited to hear from my husband if we got the green light or not.

I would love to get her email address, if you're willing to PM it to me. Do you have the link to the teen FB group?

Thank you so much! :yay:

I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to the workings of FB groups, but it's a private group administrated by Heather Craig... I think you can message her through FB and ask for your child(ren) to be added. I'll try to get more info, or Jodijo might know since she administers the "regular" group page.

My daughter said she'd love to email with yours, I'll send you a PM with our email after I get back from dropping DD at soccer practice which I just realized she is going to be late for because I am on the DIS, lol.

HI, I just found this group. we are going on the fantasy out of Port Canaveral on June 9 too. anyone going from Texas? I have two kids, ages 9 (boy) and a girl, who is 6. can't wait! we are counting the days. what excursions did everyone book?

We had internet issues last night (long story) but I think Amy is responding now (instead of doing her homework...;) ).

We're over in Pleasanton. Hey, maybe we should arrange a meet-up before the cruise! ;)

It's so great to see all of these new cruisers! Now if only I could get my cabin assignments... ;)

Diane

Welcome (again)! We have booked the mayan ruins at Costa Maya through DCL and the rest on our own (mr sanchos in Cozumel & Capt Marvins in Grand Cayman). The Capt Marvins group is all DCL from our FB group.
We have been to these islands a few times before, I would HIGHLY recommend Dolphin Discovery at Chankanaab Park, Cozumel if you've never done the dolphin thing. We really liked Boatswain at Grand Cayman and the Fury on Cozumel also- but we're trying something different this time..

I would love to have our kids connect. I'll PM you their email addresses!

My daughter is an artist herself (hoping to get into Interlochen soon) and my son is a ballet dancer that will be dancing with the Houston Ballet next year. He will be familiar with the demands of a gymnasts schedule. ;)

We've booked Mayans through the Ages for Costa Maya. (we'd done a similar excursion with an outside tour a few years ago and LOVED it - we're just not in port long enough to do it this time)

I'm hoping to book a stingray tour for Grand Cayman, but haven't heard back from anyone yet.

I've never been a fan of Cozumel, so we will probably stay on the ship.

Can anyone tell me if we need to sign up for the 5k ahead of time?

DW just got home and she thought that was a great idea! We could meet you for lunch on a Saturday or Sunday (we're running out of weekends, but that's a good thing). Are you planning on getting to Orlando early? :ears boy:

Just booked this cruise last night for myself, DW, DS(18), DD(16), DS(9) and DD(9). We are all so excited (except the twins who will not find out until we arrive at the port - it is a surprise 10th birthday present for them). Spent all day reading this entire thread. Exhausting. Now to tackle reading through all the postings on the FB group.

Glad to see so many teenagers. My son (almost 19) just finished his first year of college at UCF and never has trouble meeting people and making friends, so I am sure he will easily meet people in the 18-20 y.o. college group. My daughter (almost 17), on the other hand, spent our last Disney cruise following DW and I around everywhere we went and trying (somewhat successfully) to make us feel guilty when we tried to go to the adult areas of the ship. At that time, she was just a little to young for the teen group and didn't want to hang out with the "younger" kids in the 11-13 y.o. group. She has promised us that this time she will not follow us around. We shall see...

My DS (17) is glad there are so many teens on the cruise. Has your daughter joined the teen FB group?
