My Morgan has been desperately searching for your Peyton because she saw that Peyton was the only other 12 yr old girl on the FE list. I tried explaining that there were other kids around her age (and maybe even 12 yr old girls?!) who were cruising but not giving out gifts and she is adamant that she has to meet Peyton so she's (Mo) not all alone on this cruise.

So with that in mind, any chance Peyton would want to email and or skype/facetime with Morgan?

My daughter (Delaney) will be 11 in 2 weeks and my son (Spencer) is 12 now. My daughter is emailing daily with another girl that will be on the cruise also. If you want my daughter to start emailing your daughter, just send message to steelemdsd and I will have her give her email address.

Thanks.

Thanks for the info SJCruiser! It's our first cruise and I know about dining rotation but hadn't thought about which restaurant we'd be in on formal night!! Your request makes sense (though it wouldn't be the end of the world if we didn't get it).

I also was looking at the 10 photo credits tonight online but didn't realize that package wouldn't be available once we arrived. THANKS for the information!! DH thinks $89 is steep but I KNOW that there will be images there that I'll want to get :thumbsup2

Went to Target today and used my "5% prescription discount" to buy gift cards to use for onboard credits. Anything I can get to save money helps (I'm feeling a little guilty about scheduling two massages (one onboard and one at CC) but I just CAN NOT seem to choose between them--I'm looking forward to them both for different reasons!)

Also noticed that you can order B-day cakes; I had thought I read that they were discontinued. It's DD's birthday cruise (she's a June baby, anyway) and I'm considering ordering her a small cake for the last night of the cruise. I know that deserts ABOUND but she might appreciate something special. This is her third birthday with Disney (two at WDW) and though she's nearly 14 she still appreciates the extra magic they always deliver!

So...next time I call Disney I need to 1) request dining rotation #3, 2) add gift cards to onboard account, 3) buy a photo package and order a beer mug for DH (he's pretty sure he'll use it enough to pay for itself, otherwise it's just a nice souvenir!), 4) consider ordering a cake and 5) ask the CM to make sure her allergies are noted on our reservation. WHEW--and I thought I was doing pretty well!!! :crazy2:

We finally got our second set of luggage tags. I looked over the documentation... and I have a question. It says that DD (age 11) was not pre-registered for the children's programs, but online it wouldn't let me do that. I thought that was because she was going to Edge? Do i still need to pre-register her? Should I call to do it?

I agree that $89 is a little steep, but I think the per-picture price on board is $10 for a 5x7. So it's at least a little better than that.

What food allergies does your DD have? DS is allergic to raw egg and Tree Nuts. So we end up getting Mickey bars delivered still-in-the-sealed-package, with a warning about the coconut oil in the coating. (He's not allergic to coconut). :)

Not sure since I don't have kids old enough for Edge. Did you go through that Child Registration link at the bottom of My Cruise Activities and her name doesn't show up in the listing? Or her name is greyed out?

Anyway, you can always register on-board. I just prefer to avoid the possibility of lines in the terminal or on-board. I'd rather be doing something fun!!

Her name isn't listed for pre-registration. I know I can register onboard or in the terminal but I'd rather have ti taken care of if it needs to be done. Maybe I should just call....

helenb,

I just found this on our child registration page:

"Registration is required for children to participate in activities at the nursery (ages 3 and under) and Disney's Oceaneer Club/ Disney's Oceaneer Lab (ages 3-10)."

So it looks like you don't have to check in the 11+ year-olds!?!

That's what I thought, for the reasons you stated.

However in our cruise documentation that just arrived in snail mail, it said that my daughter was unregistered, implying that she needed to be registered. So I got confused... sigh...

Maybe she needs to be registered if she's going to the Lab, but not for Edge? Don't know...

Seems that I remember when ds was around 11 or 12 it was optional to register him or not and optional to get a pager or not. (he is 16 now...so it was a longggggg time ago:rolleyes:)

Probabaly the best way to find out is to call and get it right from DCL.
Did I mention I Cannot wait!!!!!!!!!!!:wave2:

I was on the phone with DCL yesterday and asked about the onboard movies for our cruise. They will be showing:

Toy Story 3
Cars 2
Tangled
Disney's Cats
Muppets
Warhorse
Reel Steel
John Carter
Chimpanzees
Avengers

Sounds good! We're really looking forward to seeing the Muppets and the Avengers.

Just an FYI in case any of you wanted to book Palo dinner. Lots of slots available most nights when I checked around noon (EST) today. Also saw a few afternoon slots available for Pirate League makeovers.

Thanks for the tip! I was able to snag a Palo reservation. But wow, that DCL site is as slow as molasses! Yikes!

I got our WDW park tickets this morning. Things are coming together!

Thanks for the list! :)

Anybody packing yet? I know a lot of people start early. I can't even think about packing clothing because I have two trips immediately before our cruise, then about 3 days to wash and pack and get ready to leave for DS' college orientation, from which we are heading directly to the cruise. So packing will be last minute here! I have been getting all my documentation together, though. I have my little expandable folder and I've got all my cruise docs, hotel ressies, passports, etc. already in it and ready to go, so that makes me feel a little more prepared.

Still trying to figure out if I want to book the Costa Maya ruins directly through the tour operator or pay half again as much and book through DCL for the insurance of getting back on the boat.

Can't believe we are the only ship in port at ALL our stops. That's going to be amazing!

I have just over a week left of teaching, and then a week and a half of exams. Traditionally I start making my packing and to-do lists as I proctor my exams. It helps pass the time during the 2+ hours. ;)

But I have been printing out all of our documentation and stalking hotel and park ticket deals for our trips to Universal and WDW after the cruise.

There's quite a few teachers here helenb! I, too, am a teacher but we have kids until 6/1 (the last two days are exams). I wish they were done a week earlier like your area (though I'm sure you started before we did!) Enjoy the last couple of CRAZY weeks (though how crazy depends on the ages of kids you teach!!) I have 9-12th graders so the seniors are especially fun this time of year.

Actually, our local schools go until June 8. In fact, my kids are missing the last day of school so we can fly out to FLorida for this cruise!

I teach at a state university, which is why we're done so much earlier. But right now I'm in the thick of that 'end-of-the-semester' routine.

That makes sense! Our state Universities are already done with students (Northern Mi Univ., Mich. State, U of M, etc.) but I don't know when the faculty there is done, though. Our DD is done with school on the 6th so it's just in time for us to drive south. :yay:

That makes sense. We end up having exams until about 3 weeks into May. That's because we squeeze in a 3 week 'winter session' in January, which gives us about 5 weeks off for the holidays. But it means we're 3 weeks later getting out in May.

Yep, this cruise is the perfect timing for kids getting out of school!

Has anyone looked at bookings for this cruise? Disney is still letting people book almost every category, but only as a guarantee. You can't pick a specific room unless you go up to Cat 4! I'm guessing that means it's pretty full.

DD is allergic to "nuts" (peanuts, walnuts, pecans, etc). She's had a very adverse reaction once but that's only when she was eating a caramel roll with walnuts hiding inside :sad2:

Thankfully, it rarely becomes an issue as long as we know what to avoid. Thanks for the info. about the Mickey Bars (coconut oil is ok for her too!) :woohoo:

BTW, I crossed everything off my last "to-do" list except:

1) decided not to get a cake. A cupcake will be just fine with her and with so many other WONDERFUL desserts there why waste the money?

and 2) I called to buy onboard credits with my Disney Gift Cards. The first CM was fine and added them no problem. When I went to call in another set of cards, the second CM was trying to talk me into holding them and putting them on account once onboard--"In case you don't spend all the $$ we will know which cards have the credit still on them". I was like....."Ummmm, do you realize how much massages are?" :rotfl2:

@3luv2travel...I don't know if the cake is for a birthday or something else, but both my DS and I had our birthdays on our first DCL cruise. I bought a cake because he was turning 5. It turns out I didn't need to do so because we each got one in the MDR on our respective birthdays. You may receive similar pixie dust too.
