June 8, 2011 – Mediterranean

Yes, I can't believe it's already the one-year mark. We just got home last night from Disney World, and then I realized that one year from today we'll be setting sail in the Mediterranean!

Lots of planning yet to do, but I'll start on that after I recover from our Disney trip - LOL!!

I've been doing the happy dance all day! I can't wait! Now, if only I could find that money tree.... or a sugardaddy! ;)

Hey all- just thought I should give you a heads up.... I just checked out the price of my cruise today and found that the cruise fare had gone down about $600 per room!!!!!!! So, check it out and see if you all can reshop yours too! It was a GOOD day today! ;)

Thanks for the heads up on this.... on hold right now with them.... cross your fingers.

Woohoo.... I owe nvcruiser some pixie dust!!!! :thumbsup2 Just saved about $700 per person on our cruise. Not entirely sure how he worked it out but I'm not arguing right now. (I think they're still using a pin code that we used to book it.) :yay::banana::yay:

Hey everyone! We booked a few weeks ago. We are so excited :yay:. It will be me, DH, DD (3 ½ at time of sailing) and my DPs (dear parents. Is that right :confused3). It should be interesting traveling with a 3 year old but I am so thankful to have my parents a long for help. We have never sailed with DCL but we are booked on a 4 night Bahamas cruise in Sept 2010 so by next June we should be pros.

Hi everyone. We that is me Jan and DH Carl, will be joining you on this cruise.

We did the 11 night Med cruise, in May just gone and loved the long cruise and the Ports. Think I had forgotten how beautiful parts of Europe are.
Looking forward to talking to you all over the next year.

Glad you are on board! I did a lot of research and planning for excursions, airfare, etc. this weekend, so I am getting really excited.

A few peeps have asked about having cabins aft on the ship. We love being aft, as someone said, a few floors up and down for drinks station and restaurants. We always try and book aft.
With regards to the sea in the Med, we sailed on May 15th and the sea conditions, seemed to be the same as the Carribbean - calm. We also had very good weather in the 70's.
Pirate night was probably the most windy and most peeps had hoodies on the pool deck.

Hi, we just booked this cruise last week while on the Baltic Cruise. We did the Med Cruise in 2007. Will have 2 DD's ages 7 and 10 at the time of the cruise. I started a planning site www.worldofmouse.com

Yay! I'm glad to see some more people on this cruise, and I'm encouraged that you want to go on it again after having been on it in 2007. What I'm struggling with now is airfare - yikes!

I'm with you regarding the airfare. From CA i know it'll be around $1100 (at least), I use kayak to check airfare.... hopefully by the time we're ready to buy the airfare tix, it'll be around $1000 including taxes OR less....

I just checked airfares - running in the $1300-1600 range. They should drop significantly after the summer is over.

Did you do any of the Disney "port adventures" on your recent cruise, and if so how were they?
In 2007 we used Disney for Naples/Pompeii, Florence and Palermo. We did the other ports on our own. The Pompeii, Mt Vesuvius trip went very smoothly and was much better than attempting it on your own.

No, we went out at each port on our own. That way we could set the pace so to speak.
We also decided if there was somewhere, that we would like to see more of, then we would go back for a long weekend, as its not so far for us.
Ther was quite a good train service at some ports and it was very cheap compared to the UK.
