June 8, 2011 – Mediterranean

I started packing today. :rotfl2: Well, my carry on is mostly packed. The stuff I'm bringing in checked luggage is just thrown in a heap in the suitcase until I have time to organize and do the final laundry. :goodvibes

I'm debating whether to bring my Mickey Mouse rain poncho or to go out and by a very light weatherproof windbreaker or something. Nothing like leaving things to the last minute, eh?

3 more days of work and then it's vacation time. :dance3:

By the way, my real name is Chris and in case you wanna come up and say "hiya" before we meet on the ship (maye we'll bump into you in Barcelona or at the port. LOL), here's how look when I'm calm as a cucumber (whatever that means). :rotfl:

Love the picture -- it's nice to put a face with a name. If I can every figure out how to get a picture posted, I will try. I am j.Just a little bit of a technology idiot.....:lmao: Good luck getting through the next few days at work. It is getting so close!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe it! Our adventure begins TOMORROW! I'm praying that everything runs smoothly with our flights... especially since Maisie has never flown. We are looking forward our time in Paris before meeting you all on the Magic! See you soon :thumbsup2

Forgot to say... take some sweets (candy ;)) for Maisie for the plane landings as Georgia's ears hurt the last time we flew. Something that she can suck for a longer period (like a lollipop) otherwise she'll eat them all too quickly.. he he!

Can't wait to meet you! Have a safe trip x

I pray I don't meet you actually looking like this... I watched 'Titanic' at the weekend and it's really frecked me out :rotfl2:

We're back from our Disney wedding! And we're ready for our cruise! Is someone going to post the final FE info? I should probably have searched the thread before posting this, but I thought I saw that there are only 6 people doing FE?!

Hi everyone

I've only just found this website, very helpful it is to!! :)

Its only 8 more sleeps until we leave for our cruise. There will be five adults, and three children aged 4, 3 and 1. My Mum, Dad, Brother and Sister-in-Law and the three children are all girls!

We are flying from the UK into to Barcelona on Tuesday, so we get to spend the day in Barcelona. We have never been on a Disney Cruise before and were all very excited! :yay:

I've been reading a bit about 'meet up's', can you tell me more, I'm the only one not in a couple, so would love to meet up with other people, so I don't go completely crazy!

We haven't booked any excursions and they seemed rather pricey to us! I'm presuming people get off the ship and then get taxi's/minibuses etc?

Any tips for us as first timers, would be great!

Hope to meet up with some you? :cheer2:

:welcome: Hey, you're CerysAmelia from cruise critic boards right? Hope to see you guys at the meet!

For those of you who have exchanged currency recently, what exchange rates have you received for the dollar?

Hey Wendy, 1 euro = $1.49 at our bank 2 weeks ago.

Ok, so did the magnet question ever get answered? How many cabins are planning to do the magnet exchange? I just need to know how many to make! Thanks! Can't wait to see you all! ;)

Hi

Yes that's me from other board .... found me out!

Will do my best to meet you all at 3pm, I hope to get some tips from the cruise professionals!

Are you all from America?

Hey Wendy, $1 = 1.49 Euro at our bank.

I did it last week and it was $1 US = 1.51 euro.

Hi there,

I looked at these calculations, surely these are not correct, the exchange sites have the value of $1 as 0.70 euro or something like this?

There's a bit of everything on this cruise, I think!

I'm from France, by way of New Zealand (and the States). It's complicated, and my accent reflects that!

Glad to have one more to add to the cruise.. only 7 more days to go before we're on the Magic!!!

Hello! We're from the UK too ... whereabouts are you? I went to University in Bangor a LONG time ago :-) Glad to hear there are more children travelling - we've got too little ones. Whilst it was fab last year that the ratio of coucellors was more like 25 to one child I'm sure Jack will appreciate having other chlidren around :rotfl2:

What kind of things are you wondering about? We booked our first cruise (this is our third and probably last for some time ha ha) very last minute so didn't have time to do research and managed just fine. Anything you want or wonder about on board just ask someone - they want to help in a way that you just don't come across in the UK lol. If you want the cot left up in the room during the day, just ask, if you need a bin for nappies .... ask etc etc They will get the children veg sticks etc at meal times if you ask, or what ever their prefered nibbles are. The excursions look shockingly expensive, we've never done any but I am sure they are very reassuring especially with the children. Last year in the Baltic it was a breeze just getting of the boat and diy-ing it with out much planning but we found that much harder in the Med. We're not well travelled and found the taxi drivers hassling you etc as well as the heat to be a bit much ... perhaps we're just wimps. I think if you have time to browse this site a bit more, somewhere there is a thread on diy excursions in the Med which might short cut you to some good advice.

I'm sure all the excursions and onboard activities are great fun if you're not in a couple, everyone seems so friendly. One of the random things that I would recommend taking that you might not normally travel with is a high lighter pen to mark off on the navigator things you're interested in, I go cross eyed reading it and its so easy to forget something that you thought looked good. Most of the other things that people take can make things easier organising the room like the shoe holder thingy etc but not essential. We are cutting right back on stuff like that I think with flying easyjet. Having said that I would take an 4 way adapter for the plug socket (with a US connector) *** you're bound to have loads to charge like phones/ cameras etc and a bit weird but we take a 4 cup mcdonalds cardboard thingy for carrying drinks back from the drinks station.

Bit of a ramble hope it helps :-) I can't wait to start packing but will probably do it last minute as the children are in nursery on the Monday and dh is off work so we'll get done so much faster.
