June 8, 2011 – Mediterranean

My son Bruce has an online site for maps of Rome, and I'll send them to you by e-mail. Also, we are doing the hop-on-hop-off tours in Barcelona and they have great maps...hand held. Sometimes aps are great!

RoseW:cheer2:

Thanks Rose. I will check my e-mail

:dance3: :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: 2 months today :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: :dance3:

we'll be at the airport !!!

Just booked our hire car for Palermo/Sicily...... it's getting closer :yay::yay::yay:

If the rumors turn out to be true I feel bad for those that were hoping to do Europe next year, I think there were lots of people hoping for an Eastern Med. We also almost waited another year, now I am so glad we didn’t!

I was hoping for the Eatern Med in 2012. Almost didn't do this cruise because we did it in 2007, but it's not like you can go to Rome too many times. Besides now you can tour the lower level of the Colosseum. :)

For any of the iphone users out there. The HOHO bus in Barcelona now has a free app - Bus Turistic.

Also the Marriotts Premier Visa just annouced they are eliminating foreign transaction fees.

Have you tried Bus Turistic before? I've read some reviews that lines can get really long to get on the bus. We'll be in Barcelona 3 days Pre-Cruise, and I'm thinking of using HOHO bus. I'll check out the free app on BT. Thanks!

I haven't taken the hoho bus in the past, but my spouse has and said it worked out great. I'm thinking/ hoping that in June we're a little before the summer crush of tourists.

I just got an email from DCL and it looks like a couple of the onboard times have been changed. Did anyone else notice this?

I haven't recieved any offical communication but looked on the itinerary on the DCL website and it shows Naples has changed from 2100 to 1900. This ruins my plans for going from Pompeii to sorrento and getting hydrofoil back at 1720 cuts things real fine! :headache:

What would be the reasons for the change?

Finally booked---we are using Air France out of LAX and going to Paris before the cruise :)

We are going to Paris pre-cruise as well! We are staying in downtown Paris June 2-4 and at DLP (Hotel New York) June 5 & 6! Are you doing DLP?

I haven't heard anything from DCL. What changes have they made? I hope the changes don't conflict with any of our excursion plans!

We are heading to Paris post-cruise (Happy 40th bday to me!). We rented an apartment in the Saint Germain des Pres area. Maybe we can meet on the cruise and I could get some tips! The info is overwhelming when you add it to all of the cruise ports--my head is spinning. Thank goodness for this board and cruise critic. It really is invaluable.

The only change that I noticed in the itinerary is that Naples is 8:30-7p instead of 9p. That shouldn't affect our plans too much. We have a tour booked with Simply Amalfi and we were scheduled to be back by 5pm.

Can't wait for June 8th!!

I'm sooo jealous that some (if not most, lol..) of you guys are going to Paris/London Pre-Post cruise! We originally plan to go either of those places but DH is hesitant to take more than 2 weeks off from work (he has about 4-5 weeks of vacation :confused3) so we just decided to take 3 days pre cruise stay in Barcelona.

I can't believe we're less than 2 months away!! :banana::banana::banana:

With such a short time in Paris, we felt like we had to make a decision to either spend it in the city or do DLP. The only way we would have been able to do both was having more time in Paris. Not being able to make it this time will just give us a reason to return ;)

Just curious are you planning on visiting Montserrat while in Barcelona?

Just curious are you planning on visiting Montserrat while in Barcelona?

I plan to, but I will have to study the map first and see if its easy to do on our own. If we go, most likely we'll go on the 7th.

We will be on this cruise myself (mum 22) my daughter (4) and my grandad (74) we are really looking forward to it. We will also be back on the magic 11 days after we get of but back with my mum and sister. We did the Baltic last year which we really enjoyed :)

Goofy4u and Zoom,

I think we might try Montserrat on the 7th also, if we have the time and energy to do so. I'm not sure if we would have time to go all the way up to Monjuic, but I would certainly like to. If either of y'all are going, that might be the incentive I need to just go for it!

Does anyone know what the temperature will be like on this cruise??:confused3
It will be humid and warm...like Florida, but bring a light jacket for the Med breezes on board ship. You cannot wear sleevless in the Vatican or Bascilica, also no shorts, capri pants okay. Otherwise sleevless is fine, if you wish. As a woman, I plan to wear a sun hat and take a light scarf in case I need it. Also, good walking shoes for the cobblestone streets is recommended.:cheer2:
