June 29, 2011-10 "MAGICAL" nights in the Mediterranean

OK, it's officially time to start planning this trip. I have my plane tickets and hotel in Barcelona, plus a reservation for a private tour for our group of 14 in Rome and Naples, but no itineraries planned for those two days and no ideas on excursions for any of the other days. I'm especially in need of ideas for Corsica and Malta for excursions on our own. Must get reading this board and cruise critic soon. I'm completely distracted as we are moving back to California from Switzerland this summer, so there's so much to do (including finding jobs for me and DH ) but I'm cautiously optimistic that we will work our way through this. Needless to say, we will be in need of a vacation by the time the end of June rolls around.

Made the cabin door magnets this weekend. Hopefully, they will arrive in the next couple weeks.

Next project, fish extenders...

Hi, everyone! Wow! A month from today our cruise leaves!! Woohoo!!

Dorothy - I haven't heard from agreenfamily either and I'm pretty sure I don't have an email address for them.

Well, Jenn is officially a college graduate and we have had such a wonderful weekend. Both of our sons (Andrew and our international student from Haiti) had a wonderful time at their senior Prom) and they have been attending pre-graduation parties this weekend. So far, it has been a weekend of fun with family and friends. Lots more to look forward to.

I knew everything would go well! You are in the home stretch!! Really exciting times - don't you feel so lucky sometimes?!

Thought I would wish you all a Happy Memorial day! I was in the NAVY reserve at one point in my life, so this is one of those times that I reflect back on some of the fine people that I served with and met during my time in.

We are getting close. Before you know it we will be on that beautiful ship sailing in the Med!!! There always seems to be one or two things left to do in prep for the trip.

My wife is busy making the FE. I am still gathering info and putting it all together. I have been using OneNote and it has been a real helpful tool.

Anyone gotten the Colliseum tickets yet? It looks like the website has been updated. I plan on getting them today.

We haven't gotten our documents yet either... FYI we got our documents last year while we were still GTY and finally got our room a week or two before sailing.

I am really getting excited! Our trip will be here before we know it! It's exciting reading what everyone is up to as well. Looks like a lot going on between now and the trip for everyone!

I keep checking these boards hoping to see reports from the EBTA and/or LIVE reports from the Magic as it is on it's first Med itinerary of the year!! I saw the Magic in Malta on earth cam earlier today. I think that ramped up my excitement level another notch.

Now I just need to stop checking these boards and focus my time on my packing list and what clothes I want to take!!! DH made a list for DS and himself today. I need to get my butt in gear!

We haven't told the kids about the cruise yet so right now I'm doing all the organizing I can do on the sneak tip... I REALLY want to grab the suitcases down and start filling them up but I can't yet!

Trying to finalize all the ports, I am being so indecisive for some reason! Just need to pick something and stick with it!

I sat down to read my new Budget Travel magazine last night. I was so excited when I saw the article "Eat Like a Local: Barcelona" It gave some good suggestions on places to eat. I encourage everyone to check it out. Also, when I was on BT's website, I found a "menu decoder" for Barcelona. It gives the Spanish word and a general description of the food item. I would be happy to send the PDF file to anyone interested~

Hi Kim! I lived in Verona for a short time, then Oakmont and later moved to New Kensington (across from Springdale) when I was in high school. I graduated from Valley High School. Small world!

I am looking forward to meeting you and your DH later this month! The time is certainly speeding by while we are busy with proms, graduations, work, etc.

just back from a short family getaway in vegas... on the drive back to LA, I suddenly got sad because, as I told my DH, "the cruise is almost over!" haha all this planning and anticipation, and i realized that it's so close, it's almost behind us! i just love having it to look forward to.
