June 29, 2008 - Magic - West Coast!!!!

Hey Everyone!!

Just got back from WDW this week and even though it was hot! We had a wonderful magical time!:wizard: We were so lucky--:yay: On our 1st day in the parks about 1:00pm or so we won a Dreams day out and got to go on any ride no wait, treats and toys for kids, and no wait for photo opps!! I was so nice!!:goodvibes
And also, I was told that they are going to extend the Dreams for several months next year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:
So most likely when we all go on this trip and go to DL they will still be giving things away!!!!:dance3:
How has everyone been???

Hi Fans!! So HAPPY to hear about your family getting 'dreamed'!!! That's too cool :cool2: !! Yes, YOMD will be going on while we're in DL next year....it actually will continue through the end of next year. So hopefully everyone who visits before or after our cruise will get a chance to be 'dreamed' :dance3: We've won the YOMD Mickey ears, so at least we've gotten something  I want the Mickey Penthouse!!! Good luck with that :rotfl2:

Have a good night all!!:cloud9:

Hi fellow DIS cruisers!!! Hopefully everyone's having a wonderful holiday season! I'm wanting to give the kids a few things for Christmas to get them excited for our cruise, and was curious if any of you were doing the same?? Any ideas for me? I'm certainly looking forward to the nice warm days of the Mexican Riviera.....I've turned into a popsicle!!! :lmao:

Hey everyone! I'm the OP that started this thread.....

I was just thinking the same thing..... what Christmas gifts to give to my DD9 to get ready for this cruise.

Well, let me start off by saying, our travel plans have changed. Our family, DH, DW, DD9, DS15, DS18 were all set to travel with another family, same son/daughter ages.

But as the boys became high school football players, we have found out that this is the first week of summer ball and my DH has a trial that week. We would have to pay $2k to move the cruise or cancel. This is my 6th cruise and I just don't have it in my heart to cancel, especially with DCL coming to California.

So, this is now a Mother and DD9 solo cruise and I couldn't be happier (except I'll miss Palo). My DH is staying with the boys (DS15 & DS18) and us girls get to sail away! :) :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We are so excited to have a mother/daughter cruise. My daughter has always been in the Club and this is the first time she will be in the Lab. :dance3:

We went to the scrap book store for birthday invitations today and I saw this cool scrapbook and saw all these things I could do for the cruise book - I can't wait to get it started with her. :cheer2:

Hi PizzieDuster!! $2000 to change???? Holy cow....well I'm glad it worked out for you. I guess that's the down side of booking 18 months in advance....you never really know what's going to happen before then :) But that mother/daughter time will be great!! :thumbsup2 So has anyone scoped over the excursions yet?? We're still trying to decide if we're even going to book any. I'm sure there will be enough to do on the ship!! :santa:

:cool1:

Well, it all worked out.... and with no increase! :thumbsup2

I finally made the decision to move down from a Cat4 to a Cat6 since it's just my daughter and I.

So here's to a great cruise and a fantastic mother and daughter bonding trip~

I'd love to start thinking about excursions too. My DD9 won't snorkel so it looks like BEACH PARTIES for us

I'm very curious to see what we are going to do at Cabo. Last DCL cruise we took our family just went on our to a beach and then shopped and took a water taxi back to the pier.

Can't wait to go now, knowing how much fun us girls are going to have! :woohoo:

I wonder if anyone knows this board and it's workings well enough to tell me why I'm not getting "notified" of new posts?? :confused3 I'm typically on these boards daily, and haven't gotten an email letting me know that there's a new post.....I ESPECIALLY want to know for this particular one because I'm getting VERY excited for this cruise, and want to chat with others who are doing the same :yay: Hopefully others will check in and say 'hi' :goodvibes

Hi All!! Hopefully everyone's Christmas was safe and happy! I've told myself ALL year that I was going to wait until after Christmas to really buckle down and focus on our cruise.....now it's officially 'after' Christmas. My passporter is out, I've printed out the list of excursions, and I'm READY to FOCUS!! :cool1: :cool1: :rotfl2: WOO HOO!!:woohoo:

Happy New Year to you too Hawaiian Mickey!! If I remember right, parking at the port costs $1 each hour up to 10 or 12 hours, but then it's $12 max per day. :) Anyone else know about the porters? Good question....sorry I didn't know that one

Yes, there are porters.

I do remember seeing the parking lot is very close to the terminal. Across the street, very easy to walk from parking lot to terminal. Like an airport, there are lanes to drive up and the porters are there to unload for you. My parents dropped us off. They could have parked but you have to show your documents to get into the terminal. They went to the nearby seafood outdoor restuarant and waited for us to sail away. It was cool, they were waving and all.

We plan to go to that restuarant a couple of times to watch the Magic sail away. I can't wait!

Where are the excursions posted at?

Happy New Years to everyone! It's cruise planning...ummmm dieting.... now :cheer2:

Some pictures of the port and one of the restuarants that you can go to watch the sail away.

I went to the Disney Cruise website, and clicked on Mexican Riviera cruises. Then just click on each port, and it'll give you the lists and descriptions for each. Boy....some of them sure sound tempting!!

Oh my gosh....that's a great video, I can't wait either! So it made me wonder, does the boat leave the dock before or after the muster drill? I see all of the people waving at the end, and also wondering if that was during the 'Going Away Party'?

The ship sails after the muster drill. Immediately after the drill, drop off your vests and head directly to the sail away party for a good spot. There are lots of dancing, the characters come out, dance some more. After the countdown and the horn blows, the ship starts it's departure. Lots of people then go to the rails to watch the ship sail out of port. I love that! My DD9 and I will probably go down to our room when we come upon the restuarants to wave to my DH since he knows where our stateroom is. I always bring a DCL towel to hold over or wave.  Can't wait! :cool1:
