June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

OK - looks like I better get to that first meet with the kids : )

Maybe I should change the spa time? :confused3

It's like a tradition for me on the cruise - I get on the ship, get the family settled and then get RELAXED with a massage and a cocktail. :cool2:

Do you think 3:30 is too late to arrive at the meet?

3:30 should be fine, according to mom. I'll probably be hanging to meet the kids later than that, anyways.

We have all of our packing still to do although I did get a few things out this weekend. The kids have 7 more days of school and I have to work until Friday the 24th!
I just can't wait to finish this school year and head out on this trip!

I am working right til the day we leave (the night of the 23rd). DD is missing the last few days of school and her grad dance (it's grade six - I think she'll live). This upcoming weekend is dedicated to packing! Can't wait!

Glad you got an appointment! Whew....but ummm, how does one get a birth certificate like yours? Did they run out of birth certificates and you were born before the printer delivered the new ones? Or was it a registrar that didn't know how to read? :confused3 Kind of reminds me of my father's issue...Illinois sent him a copy of his and his mother's name was listed as Elvira, instead of Elvina (I know, not a whole lot of improvement) He was born back when birth certificates were handwritten and when the state computerized the records, it was entered as Elvira. He told them his mother was not the Mistress of the Dark and could they correct it. :lmao:

Ok, here's how it happens. I was born in Colorado on June 26th, yet there was a blizzard *we lived above the snow line in the mountains) and so much snow my parents were snowed in so I was born at home. The area we lived in was so small they didn't have a hospital but they had a mortician who was also the town doctor. So after I was born he was the one to come and certify my birth. He had a stockpile of death certificate but never needed a birth certificate since I was the first person ever born there (to this day I'm fairly certain I am the only person born there). So that's how I have my death/birth certificate. It makes for a great story but it's a pain in the butt when someone wants an official copy for something. Yet another reason why my passport is so valuable since more often than not when someone wants a birth certificate they will accept a passport as a replacement.

I have to say that handling my problem with my bank was super easy. I went in and they issued me a new card on the spot and instantly refunded any/all charges that I didn't recognize (apparently this weekend I went to Texas, bought a bunch of nutritional supplements there, and also bought a plane ticket on American Airlines to Europe). I was in and out of the bank in less than 30-minutes. I have to admit that while they were asking about transactions to refund I thought about telling them I didn't recognize the stuff my wife bought at the mall this past weekend, but the Jiminy Cricket on my shoulder wouldn't let me do it. ;)

Hi June 26th Dream Crew!

Our family is experiencing DCL for the first time and we are all getting so excited! It's great to see all the fun convos going on on the boards and it's definitely added to our excitement level. We are way late to the party so I don't think we'll be able to participate in FEs (let alone getting one put together) but love the idea. I've been following different discussions on decorating the doors with all sorts of magnets so at least we'll have some fun stuff on our stateroom door. Look forward to getting ideas for future cruises :yay:

Looking forward to a great trip!

Jeannie

Wow, what an interesting story!!! And congrats on getting the mess with the card cleared up! Sending tons of pixies that your visit to the Passport office runs just as smoothly! I had to help my son get his passport a couple of years ago...he was born in Iceland on the military base there and does NOT have dual citizenship. He was issued a US State Department "Report of Birth Abroad" Certificate and we were told in no uncertain terms to NEVER give this to ANYONE or send through the mail for ANYTHING. When he applied for his passport, they wanted his ORIGINAL certificate...the same State Dept that told me NEVER give it to anyone! :confused3

:welcome: Jeannie and family! You are going to  cruising with Disney! Be sure to come to the meet on the first day! It won't be long now!!! :jumping1:

Hello new friends! So I know our cruise is only about a week away, but this is my family's first ever Disney cruise and we cannot even begin to explain how excited we are! I did just find out today about "fish extenders". So, how do we get in on this? Please give me as much info as you can, since we are newbies. We definitely want to get the entire experience! Thank you all! <3

Thanks, Stephanie (which is also my sister's name...she's coming on the cruise too!)! Let me know if 3:00pm at the Vista Cafe is the meeting spot on the 1st day. I'll look for your lime green lanyards and will wear my Kermit the Frog green top so you can pick me out! :thumbsup2 We've got 7 in our group...2 guys, 3 gals and 2 kids (5pirate: and 7 princess:years old). Just found out that Jen from Stitches 'n' Bows will be able to make our FEs in time. Can't believe how lucky we are. I'll make sure to bring gifts for the kiddos so they at least get to experience the fun. We are headed out on the 22nd to check out the parks...can't wait for that FLA heat!

:welcome: PrincessAshley and Family!!! How exciting to be getting ready for your first cruise! Cruising Disney-style is wonderful and I know you will have a wonderful time!

Fish Extenders (or FE) is sort of like a secret Santa thing that participants deliver small gifts to each other's staterooms. They are put into a holder that is hung from the fish on the wall right outside the staterooms that Disney uses to hold messages for the staterooms. Unfortunately, it is too late to get into the FE for this cruise. It takes participants time to get or make the gifts for the others. But I know this won't be your LAST Disney cruise, so there is always next time! ;)

Yes, Vista Cafe, deck 4 at 3 PM. Red lanyards with White letters and a sign that says "it all started with a Dream" :D see you there!

Well david finally got back to me and his response to my question about the mixology class was the larger the class the less likely there will be hands on opportunities.

So I am taking that to mean that even with a minimum number of 25 people (which we are not close to even with my DH agreeing to tag along) that there is a chance that we will not get any "hands on" time with a private class.
Since the main attraction, at least for me, is the hands on opportunity for a mixology class I am going to try to get tickets for the regular one on embarktion day.

Now they have the same requirements/opportunities for private wine/martini/beer tasting classes so if we get a minimum of 25 people willing to sign up we can do one of those:confused3

I'd also put the request in for a private mixology class if that ever gets to 25 people as well (I'd sign up if it helps to get to 25).

The last option is touching base on embarktion day (at lanyard meet ?) and trying to all get tickets for the same tastings:confused3 I had alot of fun with Dis people in the past at these tastings:goodvibes

Also, a thing to consider, the cooking classes they schedule usually include a wine tasting at the end as well-they are alot of fun too:woohoo:

If the opportunity arrises... my husband and I can join!

Anyone know if there is a scheduled Champagne tasting for our dates?? I know I will have to try Pink!!!;)

My family gets here in a week!! So excited, I haven't seen them since January!

They arrive on Thursday, and we are eating at Turf Club for lunch at Saratoga, then going to DHS and seeing Fantasmic. Friday we are going to Epcot and then Hoop Dee Doo, and Saturday we are doing MK, staying for Magic Memories and Me and Wishes. And Sunday is cruise day!!

I have not even begun to think about packing yet. I know what dresses and such I'm bringing for dinner, but nothing's ready at all.

And I've just gotten some awesome news... on July 3rd I start training at The Great Movie Ride! It's been my dream to work that ride since I was a kid! So I will be studying my script all throughout the cruise, LOL.

Lanyard and group meet embarktion day 3pm Vista Cafe deck 4.
Those that are in the FE will receive your lanyards. Otherwise I will deliver to your stateroom FE that evening.
Look for my family in red reversed tie dye T-shirts also holding green disboard sign and also our cruise logo design sign.
All kids and Teens can introduce themselves to each other too so if they want to hang out later in the clubs together throughout the cruise.
Looking forward to meeting everyone. :cool1:

I should see this script...lol, are they top-secret? I don't think I'll end up in attractions when I end up down there, but it'd be nice to check it out!

My group will be at DHS on Thursday, too! We arr doing Epcot Tuesday and Wednesday, MK on Friday and AK Saturday! Maybe we will see you at DHS! I will have a LGMH on my bag!

For any of you thinking of renting a car or still finalizing transport options, i was able to rent a mid-size from Alamo for 10 days, including taxes for $208 :worship:......even with paying for parking, it was less than transport there and back...plus we are on our own time...It was one of their last minute specials from MCO.

Just thought I'd share....
