June 26, 2011 5 Nights on the Disney Dream!!!!

Hi everyone! :goodvibes

I have been reading some TRs and it seems that (frequently) the tweens and young teens (13 and 14) are not too interested in the teen club. On our last cruise my DD was 11 and had a blast. In fact, she is still in email contact with friends she met on the cruise. Now she's 13 and I am worried that she'll be "bored". She's also on the shy side until she warms up.

Soooo, I was wondering if anyone with young teens would like to get together to meet with them so we can help them meet each other and then maybe it won't be so awkward for them in the teen club?

We have early dinner rotation and I have to deliver my FEs the first night, but I would LOVE to bring my DD13 to meet up with other 12, 13, 14-year-olds at the Teen club around 8 or 9 or 10?? Or whatever time is good for others?

I also have a DS11 that could come along, but he seems to meet new people more easily....:confused3

Anyway, just thought I'd throw that out there.

To all you teachers out there:teacher:... congrats on another year of dedication to the children! This was my first year teaching High School :scared1: and it was an amazing experience!! I switched careers (long story) and let me tell you - teachers are truly amazing and dedicated professionals! It's WAY harder than it looks! Kudos to you!:thumbsup2

Looking forward to meeting everyone :dance3:

Sorry I have been MIA in posting, but I've been reading faithfully all the posts every day. Just finished up the Memorial Day holiday, but it also kicks off three weeks of "too much to do in too little time". First was DD's first dance recital this past weekend (she sure made a pretty cheetah!). This coming weekend is DD's 7th birthday (all girls Barbie party! What was I thinking?) Then the following weekend is my parents 50th anniversary party. I have 90 friends and family coming for a party. Then what I thought was an off weekend is now getting my mother ready for another surgery. As you all remember she fell in January and broke her arm and kneecap. This surgery is to repair/replace a rotator cuff that is gone. Sometime during all of this I have to finish our FEs, pack, and continue to keep it a secret from DD.

I'm tired just from thinking about it all, and eagerly waiting for that first drink of the day.

Many thanks go out to Crystal and Rob. The update FE list and the map of cabins is awesome! Looking forward to meeting everyone come 6/26.

Oh and for any of you at the Radisson the evening of the 25th, I will apologize in advance. I'm thinking there will be 3 very loud little girls when they find out what we are doing that evening. :lmao:
Hope everything works out for your Mom:hug:
Also lookinf forward to my sail away drink:woohoo:

We're coming up on Tech Week for Beauty and the Beast, which for me means this vacation is getting closer!!! :woohoo: Final projects, fans in classrooms...all signs that summer is almost here...I can't wait to sit on my butt and relax!!!
Would love to see pics for the Beauty and the Beast if you can:goodvibes

Well, it turns out our TA DID have our docs. We have them in hand and are SSSOOO excited. :woohoo::banana: Just need to get through this month!

YEAH!!
YAY:banana::thumbsup2

So yesterday was the last day of the school year for students and today is the last day for teachers. :woohoo:

It also means the end of my teaching career. :sad1: I'm leaving after 9-years and start my new job June 20th. I told them that I have a planned vacation from June 26th - July 1st and they said that was fine. So I'm off for 2 weeks, work for a week, then off for a week, and then back for a short work week because of the July 4th holiday. Kind of a weird schedule to start with.

I'm SOOOO excited for this cruise I can't even see straight. May was an absolutely HORRIBLE month for my family and I so we can't wait until we get some needed decompression time.
It's a bit scary/exciting to change careers after so many years, but I don't regret doing it. Never too old to learn something new:cool1:

Just curious if anyone is extending their vacation to stay for the final shuttle launch on July 8? We are!!!
The last time we sailing out of PC they had to cancel the launch due to a lightening strike the night before. I felt really bad for the people that had traveled there just to see it. So I advise you have a backup plan for something to do in case weather makes them cancel:confused3

Thanks for updating us! If you see any other updates, please keep us updated!!

Is the Golden Mickey's the same as the GM on the Magic/Wonder?

Also, what are the reviews for Villains tonight and Believe? My computer has to go in for service tomorrow (Did it have to fail NOW when we have LESS THAN 3 WEEKS?) so searching anything on the boards is not an option for me.

And what are they doing for the variety act? I knew which shows to miss on the Magic/Wonder because we had seen them 4 times. With this being a short 5 day trip, I want to take it all in but also don't want to give up our fun ship time to see a show every night. Love the shows though.....don't get me wrong!!
First, I would suggest expecting that you are not going to fit everything in on this trip and have a very short list of must-dos (assuming you'll probably fit in other things of course-but you will drive yourself nuts trying to make sure you don't miss anything good)
Second, while I have heard good reviews of the Villians show, my DH and I were not crazy about it. The costumes were great, but we found the story line somewhat boring. We were cruising the Baltic at the time so our focus was more on the ports anyway:confused3

I am looking forward to the show Believe though and I have heard great reviews about that one. Found the variety shows to be somewhat hit or miss. We stop in if there is nothing else scheduled and sometimes they're good and sometimes not:confused3

I thought I read somewhere that the Golden Mickeys show is the same on all ships. We skip that one after having seen it twice:confused3

I cannot wait to sail on this cruise. Im Zac and im 16 and this will be my 3rd disney cruise! Are their any teens on here who will be in the club dancing the night away with me? :D

Hi Zac
My son Andrew is 17 and my daughter Kelly is 14.
Andrew is very much a gamer (WOW) and I don't think he will be dancing...not sure about Kelly. I guess with her it depends on who she winds up making friends with:confused3

(Sorry, spelling freak.)
Me too:laughing:
Feel free to correct me when I goof:thumbsup2

Bummer...we have Palo booked for night 4, the only night that doesn't repeat. :sad2:

We have Remy's on Night 4... :sad1:
You can change your dates when you board. I would get to the designated spot early (actually most likely I will be there as well:rolleyes:) as I remember the line being long.

May take you up on this. However, if my DD14 thinks I am trying to help her make friends she will rebel:headache: So I have to be careful how I word the suggestion:rolleyes1
I do think the first night all the clubs have open house and have "ice breaker" type activites that sometimes work and sometimes don't:confused3

We have late dining right now (which I will try to change when I board) so our kids will not be able to go to the clubs until 10 or so ...or will mostl likely be there earlier:confused3

My DD Kelly loves her anime..anyone else's teen daughter into that?
I'm thinking she might also try karaoke this time if she finds some friends willing to try it too.

My daughter Sam 15 (bombygriz here on the boards) likes to sing and likes karaoke so does my 10 year old son Brandon. :mic:

Im excited to meet some of you :) hopefully us teens can stay in touch because i love having friends and i am very outgoing!

My dd is 11 and would love to meet up with some others her age. It seems that their are alot of 11 year old boys in our group but few girls. She is a veteran cruiser and still keeps in touch with girls that she has met on previous cruises. This is her first time in the Edge though so we are hoping she will like it. Our DisMeet at 3 may be a good time for the kids to try to connect a bit.

Noway! You better be ready to party all night because i want some dancing partners!

Yes, way! Except I go to bed at like...11. I'm not average. xD

As for karaoke, my mother might be wrong. I don't know if I'll do it. I'm not a karaoke singer, I used to do it sometimes, but I'm not exactly into it. :P

We have Remy's on Night 4... :sad1:

TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT!!! My parents aren't connoisseurs like me, so they'd never go for it. If I was 18, I'd be in there!!

I'm in for this, but I'd be around after the show. Perhaps we could snag our own table at the first meet and greet at Vista Cafe? I can take care of that! :)

Crap!
My DW just discovered that my passport expired August 2010! :scared1::scared1::scared1:

Oh NO!!!!:scared1: What will you do?

TELL ME ALL ABOUT IT!!! My parents aren't connoisseurs like me, so they'd never go for it. If I was 18, I'd be in there!!

Sure, no problem! We love Scott Hunnel and enjoy Victoria and Albert's so we are looking forward to it.

As to changing our date, really not an option for us. As this is the second cruise of our b2b, it's all good. This is cruises 7 & 8, so I doubt this will be my only chance.

OMG what are you going to do?

Oh NO!!!!:scared1: What will you do?

I was able to get an emergency appointment at the passport center in Miami on June 22nd. They print the passport right there so I'll have it for the cruise.
It works well since (I swear to God) my birth certificate is a death certificate where they scratched death out and wrote birth. I'm pretty sure that Disney/TSA wouldn't accept that. :lmao:

Wow, I can't beleive we are less than 2 weeks away! Am I the only one who is not even close to being packed or ready for this cruise??

I cannot believe how close we are. :cool1:  I still have so much to do. I have 5 more days here at school and then 1 week off to get things done.

I have a question/s about FEs - I am part of the lanyard team so I dont have a date assigned to me - but I had already bought a few trinkets - can I just deliver them any night?

Congratulations on your new job!! I know it can be bittersweet embarking on a new adventure but I have always found when I take the plunge good things happen.

Wish we could :sad2:

This is my 2nd year teaching high school (after many at the Middle school level) and I agree it is an amazing experience. I am really enjoying it.

I really need to get moving - we did finally get the suitcases out of the basement. Now to start filling them.

We are almost completely packed!:banana::banana::banana: We leave a week from tomorrow!

I cannot believe how close we are. :cool1:  I still have so much to do. I have 5 more days here at school and then 1 week off to get things done.

Sure! You can deliver any might you wish! That is so sweet- thanks!

You are not alone! I have not started packing yet, haven't printed my magnets and haven't organized my FE gifts (although I do have them all....) good thing it only takes me about 20 minutes to pack......I travel light!

Yeah we haven't done any of this either. My DSD and DSS just came back from a 7-day on Oasis of the Seas so they need to unpack, wash, and repack...not too bad. My DS, DW, and I haven't even started packing. We also need to get our FE's put together and organized, AND we need to do our magnets. All that PLUS I need to get my passport done AND I got a call this AM from my bank that my debit/credit card was compromised with a skimmer and that they are canceling it and I need to go to the bank to have a new one issued. UGH! I don't know how or when I ticked off the karma Gods but by the time we get on the boat I'm going to truly need the vacation just from preparing for the vacation. :rotfl2:

I hope the icebreakers work. I will also try to get the kids to the "meet" at 3 PM - but I will be late as I will be at the spa until 3:30 or so : )

Hopefully, things will work out for the tween/teens :)

OK - looks like I better get to that first meet with the kids : )

Maybe I should change the spa time? :confused3

It's like a tradition for me on the cruise - I get on the ship, get the family settled and then get RELAXED with a massage and a cocktail. :cool2:

Do you think 3:30 is too late to arrive at the meet?

Glad you got an appointment! Whew....but ummm, how does one get a birth certificate like yours? Did they run out of birth certificates and you were born before the printer delivered the new ones? Or was it a registrar that didn't know how to read? :confused3 Kind of reminds me of my father's issue...Illinois sent him a copy of his and his mother's name was listed as Elvira, instead of Elvina (I know, not a whole lot of improvement) He was born back when birth certificates were handwritten and when the state computerized the records, it was entered as Elvira. He told them his mother was not the Mistress of the Dark and could they correct it. :lmao:

Wow, I can't beleive we are less than 2 weeks away! Am I the only one who is not even close to being packed or ready for this cruise??
Oh heck no, and I am sooooo happy to read I'm not the only one! And I probably should get off this computer and get busy!

Ummm, you sure seem to have ticked off someone....DH says perhaps you should stay away from planning an Alaska cruise right now,....they have bears!;)

Just repeat after me...soon I will be on the ship sooon I will be on the ship:flower3:
