June 25, 2005 Mexican Riviera..anyone going with us?

I'm a first-time poster and a second-time Disney Cruiser. I've been lurking on the boards for awhile. I failed to heed my niece, Oo-de-lally Gal's warnings about the addictive nature of this forum and now I've lost valuable Spider Solitaire time to live vicariously through all of the other cruisers. I made reservations last week for myself and DH to "celebrate" (not entirely sure that's what to call it) our 35th Wedding Anniversary on board the Magic, June 25th. Our friends think we're nuts to put ourselves on a family cruise at this stage of life but the Magic and the Wonder of making 35 years has me a little nuts! We'll be pleased to meet as many of you as possible.

welcome to our cruise zibeth I will be traveling with my dd and her two boys and we are all excited it is only 19 days away. I don't think that you will feel out of place if you love disney and you said you have been on a disney cruise before why not. We are almost ready only a few things that we still need. and packing of course. From the way things have been going on boarding I think we will get to port about noon. DH is not going and he will drop us off and pick us up at the end of the cruise. Time is moving slowly again we still have two more cruised till it will be our turn.

I do have a question regarding reservations for the Rainforest Room. It was one of my favorite things to do last cruise. I didn't notice it listed on the Spa Menu and wondered if it is all reserved up or not available as an option till we board? Anybody have an idea? Thanks in advance!

Welcome Zibeth, Good to have you onboard. I don't know from personal experience, but from what I've heard you don't reserve the rainforest room ahead of time, you just buy a day pass. I heard so many good things about it that I may have to try it out myself. We are working on setting up at least one meet onboard (I think we were talking about 3-3:30 the first day at scoops) and would love to see you there.

Well Laura is done with school, but Tom has two more weeks. That last week is kind of a loss though, between the 6th grade picnic on Monday, a field trip on Tuesday and graduation of Thursday he will only be "at school" one day that week. So it's more like one more week except he still has to get up, lol. Take care all!

well debs site is doing what I was hoping for they are printing all the navigator I always find it interesting to see what is happening ahead of time I don't think I will print all of them just the sea days. the address is allearsnet.com. she has written all kinds of good information also. also is going to post the children program so we can get a idea what is going on there.

Well...we are leaving our house tonight for good! :cool1: I am going to think of the next 3 months as a giant vacation. Its going to be quite an adventure. Besides the cruise we are just going to be creating really impromptu vacations until our house is done in September. I will try to follow along when I can, otherwise I will be talking to Michelle for the latest on when and where we are all going to meet. Just 19 days left...can you believe it!

Margaret

Margaret,

Good luck to you in your transistion time. Been there, done that! The latest upheavel was a total kitchen remodel which left us without a kitchen for almost 6 weeks. We planned it over Christmas break so that we could be gone for blocks of time to make it easier to deal with.

Cheryl

well I have downloaded on the Navigater are we in for a great time. Most people like to be surprised not me seeing them ahead of time has excited me more for the cruise. If they keep the movies at the same times that they are now I don't think I will get to see many there is just too much going on.

I was thinking from what I have been reading it is taking a long tme getting on the ship so lets pick a second time for Sun that we will meet in case there is a problem in getting on the ship by 3-3:30pm I will look over navigator and see what time would be good. I keep changeing my mind about what time to get to port I think that getting there earily around 11am would be better so we can get a low boarding pass instead of standing in a line later in the day.
need to go to school and pick up Brandyn will check back later in the mean time let me know what everyone else thinks about this?

I may have missed this in other threads but how do DISers find each other on a cruise? Is there a secret handshake or should we just all hang out around the Internet Cafe and watch over shoulders to see who logs into the boards? "Hey you're a Dizzer. Glad to meet you".

Cliff

Hi Cliff. Re finding other DISers. I don't know how it started, but it seems that lime green is the "official" DIS color. Folks wear lime green, or make things like name tags, door signs and luggage tags in lime green. A lot of folks, from what I'ver heard, use the green Mickey heads that you may have heard of. They are Disney paint sample cards, Alien Green is the color. The paint chip on the card is in the shape of mickey's head. You can pick them up at Home Depot. I picked some up and played around with them to see what I could make. I peeled two of the heads off the cards and stuck them together with double stick tape, laminated them and punched holes in them. Poof :wizard: , instant (well almost) luggage tag. I think I'm going to make some to attach to our pin lanyards as well. Some people put their user name on them also. Groups also plan DIS meets, picking a place and time before the trip. We were talking about meeting at scoops (don't know exactly where that is, but if it involves ice cream, we WILL find it) at 3-3:30pm on Saturday.

Audrey I agree that we should probably set up at least one more meet in advance. If you can't make the first one on Saturday, you may never find your fellow DISers and you'd have no way of knowing when or where we might be getting together. The question is however, when and where for a second meet? Maybe we could also put together a list with cabin numbers, so we can comunicate onboard. Any volunteers willing to compile a list?

Oh, and just wanted to share, still no docs. :sad2:

I would be happy to do that if that would be ok I think that I will pm everyone that has posted so far and see if they are interested. I am by myself this evening and tomorrow dh is away so I have to time so look for a pm from me soon. I have to go do a girlscout thing but will be back in a few hours.

It won't be long before it is our time to cruise. We have posted that we would have our dis's meeting on Sat June 25,2005 between 3pm and 3:30pm at scoops. From what I have been reading some cruisers have not gotten on board till after 3pm depending on the time they get to port. We don't want to miss meeting everyone so I said I would make up and cabin list so if any planns changed or we want to add a event during the cruise we know how to get a hold of someone to tell them of the changes. You may not want to post your cabin # on the board so if you would like to email at dbel6872@aol.com I can make up the list of cabin # If you know of anyone that does not read the board and would like to be included please email me their cabin # also. Please but down your name also I know that I am looking forward in meeting everyone. Looking forward in hearing from everyone
Thanks
Audrey

Oh Dear! The dreaming has begun! I can now just write off the next couple of weeks. I place the blame firmly on reading these threads. I was warned it was addictive and I foolishly jumped on board and now look at me! I can't concentrate at work and my sleep is disrupted by dreaming - wonderful dreams mind you, but still... As nearly life-long California residents we've never seen Mexico so DH and I are really looking forward to the shore excursions. Missed the reservation for the horseback tour in Mazatlan and wonder if anybody knows any scoop on any of the other excursions there?

Dream, even without the time. My daughter is graduating from High School next week. We had Senior Recognition night last night, got a nice plaque but no money from BofA last night. The AG program at Fresno State has given her $500.00 and her CalGrant will cover most of the rest of her first year there, dad bought the condo, so we just have to get through the ceremony. Her trig final is Friday, her physics final is today. I think she is unhappy with me for keeping her in "educational" class all the way through high school when some of her friends have skated through this last semester. She will realize it is for her own good some day :rotfl:

Soon to me step-son is walking through his graduation ceremony this evening. I wasn't invited  We won't know if he is graduating, for certain, until the end of the month when he finishes his classes at his alternative school. Until I started "Interfering" his mother had hidden the information that he was "failing" from his father (Kiddo stays with his mom 99% of the time) and dad never asked because he didn't want to risk what little relationship he had with the son oops! The teachers at the alternative school are working with him to make sure he at least gets a high school diploma. Don't know what he will do after that everytime we mention a place to get a job he says it isn't the kind of job he is looking for.....

My daughter, her friend and I are doing the canopy tour and the Folklorio Beach excursion. My soon to be step-son and his dad are doing the Tequilla, huraches tour and the banderas bay sailing adventure. We haven't planned anything for Cabo yet.

We are in cabins 2583 and 2585. Don't know if my daughter and I will have withdrawals being in an inside cabin because when she and I sailed by ourselves we had a balcony both times but with 5 people - 3 of them teens we needed 2 cabins. If I need to see light I can go to my future in-laws room across the hall and look out their window or around the corner to my parent's room and look out theirs!

I was looking at the Navigators and trying to figure out, once again, when I would have any free time - didn't on the first two cruises and probably won't on this one.

My daughter wants to be at the terminal when it opens so I suspect we will get there relatively early. I will just bring a book so I can sit and relax. I have the green mickey heads and will probably attach mine to my lanyard - BTW my name is Lisa so look for me. We have late seating and with 9 adults (the teenagers are 17 and 18) I hope to start off in Parrot Cay so we are in Lumiere's for formal night!

And - when I get off the ship I have lei's to make and things to do because I am getting married on the 4th....August will be decidely quieter I think :rotfl2:

I am still looking for a few people to share a tour with my boys and me in Mexico. It is a City tour/Beach stop (if the jellyfish aren't too bad!) I was quoted a price of $32 per adult, $20 per child. His tours are getting rave reviews on a thread called "Mazatlan Frank". Sorry I don't know how to link to another thread! I tried to post the web site, but DIS wouldn't let me as i haven't had engh posts?? Anyway, his website address is the usual with mazatlan-frank in the middle :)

Hi all,

Doing the doc dance    finally! Picked them up this afternoon.

Lisa, so good to hear from you again, sounds like you've been busy. We will be across the way and down the hall from you, in 2108. Congrats to your dd, and I hope dss, on their respective graduations. I know how hard it can be sometimes to keep a teen on track. They smile and nod at you, pretending to listen to your good advice, then go do exactly what they wanted to do in the first place. How dare they have minds of their own!

From the reports I've read from the last two cruises is sounds like it should be a fun trip. Hope those jellies are gone by the time we get there, as we have booked the Mazatlan Beach Escape. After much debate, we decided to go with the beachside horseback riding in Cabo. It seems like we don't really have enough time in Cabo; I can't believe we are leaving there so early!

We are a family of four, including a boy and girl both age 8, who will be on the June 25th cruise. This is our first Cruise and I discovered the message boards just days before the Inaugural Cruise. I've really enjoyed and appreciated all the feedback I've read!! I was wondering if anyone who has been on the cruise has any information on the excursions we've booked: Pirate Sail and Snorkel, Stone Island Tour, and Snorkel & Sail Fiesta. Thank you!!
