June 25, 2005 Mexican Riviera..anyone going with us?

We have not gotten our cruise documents here in Alabama. :sad2:
I really like the ability to book the shore excursions and Palo on-line. It was a drag on our two earlier DCL to run to the bar dragging our rolly bags. Now we can get on and relax.
We plan to do the unimog tour in Cabo and the town tours at the other ports.
Thanks for the warm Welcome y'all. You make an Alabama girl welcome.
Martha

:cool1:

We just got our docs today. My daughter walked by the door and said, "look, there's a small box". I'm sick from our Vegas trip (sick in a real way, not sick in a bad I-lost-too-much-many-way). I said, oh leave it there I'll get it later and she brought it to me in bed! I jumped up when I realized what they were!

I was so frightened that they may have gotten here while we were out of town. Perfect timing. That's a good sign, some :wizard: !

I think we are going to go down to the Port this Saturday to watch the Magic sail off and to get a feeling of where the port is, etc.

Thank you for the information about the port resturants. That's where we are going Sat. :cheer2: :cheer2:

Michelle,
You know I will just be around the corner from you so I will be at your house all the time!!!!! ;)

I'll even let you borrow my laptop to use at your parents house so you can get your fix! LOL :rotfl:

My two boys (9 & 12) are sailing with you all on June 25th. This is our first Disney cruise and their first cruise ever. Just couldn't pass up the chance with the Magic being here in California. I am a major Disney fan, as are my boys, although DS 12 is becoming a bit of a coaster fiend and is leaning towards the Dark Side (Magic Mountain :scared1: )! I am hoping they enjoy the Oceaneer's Lab but I wish they could be together!

Gee, what else can I tell you about us? We live in Lancaster,CA - about 2 hours from Disneyland. I am a pediatric nurse, single mom, carpool driver, baseball/basketball mom and scrapbooker.

I am currently trying to plan some excursions. I booked a Puerta Vallarta beach excusion and am looking to book a city/beach excrsion on my own in Mazatlan with "Mazatlan Frank" who posts to this list. We need a few more people. Anyone out there interested? The price is good, at least I think so.

I got my docs a few days ago, so I have a few new things to pour over - I think I have already memeorized my Passporter!

Only 24 more days to go!!

Welcome Debogan:

We live in Rancho Santa Margarita. This is our 3rd DCL cruise and we couldn't pass up the fact that there would be no air fare for the trip!

My DS12, was 10 on our first cruise. He cried when we got off the ship. The 2nd cruise, he didn't really connect and wanted so badly to be with his brother (14) who went to the teen club. He hangs with all his older brother's friends and was bumbed to be left out.

I would talk, one on one, with the counselors. If you tell them, explain to them, the difference it is making, or will make to your DS9's cruise experience, they may let him participate if space is available. It will never hurt to ask. I'm sure they won't let a brother be sad on their DCL cruise. They are so wonderful in that department. And it's not like it's the "TEEN" room :rolleyes1

On our 6/25/05 cruise, my DS12 may not sail with us if he makes All Stars baseball, but if he does come with us, I may ask if he can join with my DS15 or participate in SOME activities. He'll be 13 in 2 months. So, we'll see. It will NEVER hurt to ask. And if it means the difference in your son's overall experience and memories of the cruise, I'm sure they will be happy to remedy any situation.

So back to trying to figure out our excursions! :earseek:

Welcome Debbie
We live in Santa Clarita and myself dd and her two gransons ages 4 and 10 will be sailing on june 25 cruise also. This will be their 2nd cruise on disney I have done a lot of cruiseing and love to cruise. What time are you planning to be at the port I think we will try and be there at noon. From what I have read they start boarding about 12;30PM or there about. read all the back thread so you will know about green heads ect. I am getting mine ready now I have a big one for the cabin door and am going to make small ones also. I have something to wear around my neck that I got on my last disney cruise to keep my door card shopping card in. From on the reports we are getting everyone seems to be having a great time on the first mexican cruise. I am hoping to do pre cruise paper work on line also. It was great getting docs makes the cruise seem real well it is only 24 days to go before we board. No one has said where they had their first dis meeting on the first day. I say scoops between 3pm and 3:30pm just to say hi. And maybe we can meet for lunch on one of the sea days what does everyone think? Well I have a busy day need to get started.
Audrey

Welcome Debogan, glad to see that you are joining us. My ds will be turning 12 on the cruise. He is also a coaster fanatic, but loves Disney. I'm also hoping that he likes the lab, as he was a bit at loose ends on our last cruise with Carnival. Even though he went to the kids clubs a few times, he ended up spending a lot of time in the cabin, watching movies on his DVD player.

Hi Debbie, welcome to the group!
I'm a scrapbooker too and have many pictures/layouts already planned! LOL
We still haven't gotten our docs yet and I'm super anxious :bounce: but hopefully we will get them any time now.
I read another post that someone brought 2 suitcases per person...is that true? I really have to start laying out all the clothes and making list so I don't forget anything!!
Michelle

We are so happy that we don't have to fly we won't have to weigh the suitcases. Depends on what size cases you are bringing and what kind of cabin you have. the suitcases are to be put under your bed. We are bringing one bag each plus our carry one bag. You don't get suitcases for a while so if the kids want to go swimming make sure you have their suits in carry on bag. As far as making list I have started getting things together that I am not useing right now. Some people keep things that use in suitcase from one cruise to another. We are so excited about being able to drive to cruise. We went on a weekend cruise last fall during their fall brake and not having to fly was great. DH is dropping us off and picking us up this time.

I will try to go back through the old posts and read about the "green things". That sounds like fun. We are planning to go to my Dad's in Thousand Oaks the night before and he will drive us down so I don't have to leave my car there. I am planning to be there around noon or a little before. I have started shopping (the fun part) but haven't done any packing (the not fun part). I have a lot going on between now and the end of school, so I may not get to that until the week before we leave. I do need to find time to go through my boys' summer clothes to see what I need to buy for them. I'm assuming that they will spend a lot of time in their swim trunks!

Since it sounds like at least a couple of us have boys around the same age, maybe we can meet up during the welcome thing at the kids club.

I am getting so excited!

Does anyone know if you can sign up for the character breakfast on-line now?
Or do you have to do that on board?
Martha in AL ::MinnieMo

You don't sign up for charactor breakfast it is asigned to you right after you go to animator's palate the next morning. That is what I have read in other threads.

No docs here yet. :sad2: I know it's not vital to get them, but I want them, cause it make the cruise seem that much closer. If we don't hear something soon, guess I'll have to call my TA and make sure they are not sitting on her desk!

Martha, thanks for posting the schedule for the shows. It's just the kind of general information I love to hear. Not too much, I still like some surprises.

Yes Debbie, getting the boys together sounds like a good idea. I plan on making sure that Tom attends the first night 411 and am hoping that he finds someone to hang with in the lab. Same for Laura in the teen program. If we meet at 3-3:30pm at Scoops like Audrey suggests, the kids could already at least have a familiar face around. The timing sounds just about right, everyone should be on board (sounds like we will be one of the last to arrive) and I think the lifeboat drill is supposed to be at 4 or 4:15pm, can't remember.

I've had suitcases out in my bedroom for months, lol. never put them away after our Carnival cruise in January. The house was, and still is, in an uproar from the renovations we've been doing. At first I simply couldn't get to their spot in the garage, and now it's almost time to use them again!

I need to get Tom new dress pants and shoes. He needs them for graduation anyway. That and a couple pair of shorts for him and Laura should finish the cruise shopping. Then all I have to do is pack it all!

Cheryl

Speaking of packing.... what kids of things do kids wear to dinner other than on the formal night? Will my boys be OK in nice docker shorts and polos? I have dress pants and a button down shirt for the semiformal night and I am renting them tuxes for formal night. I know I don't have to, but I can't resist the opportunity to get them all dressed up for pictures, if nothing else.

sounds great I did not see anyone in tuxes even adults on our last disney cruise formal on disney is not that formal. We took some great pictures I myself would like to take a picture with mickey on formal night.

Hi Debbie, Dockers and a polo should be fine for your boys. We haven't been on DCL yet, but that is what I have mostly seen on our last two cruises. My understanding is that jeans are now "allowed" by DCL on casual nights, not sure about shorts. Tom will most likly wear dockers and polos or casual button up shirts every night except formal night. If you can get your boys in a tux for formal night,...I bow down to you... I'm lucky to get Tom into a button down shirt and tie! The boy lives in jeans and t-shirts and even a tie is a big deal for him. I've got this great photo of him taken on the Voyager of the Seas, on formal night in his suit, complete with that "why do I have to wear this stupid thing" look. Priceless!
DD, Laura, on the other hand loves to dress up princess: and is having a hard time deciding which dresses to bring. She's hemming and hawing about bringing her dress from winter formal. It's very pretty and is perfect for formal night, but with it's long tulle skirt is somewhat bulky. Then OMG the shoes, she loves shoes, don't get me started!

CHeryl

Hi all,
Just checking in and bumping us up. We don't want to get lost on the second or third page! Anyone else NOT have docs yet? :sad2: I'm not worried, just want to know that I am not alone in my "doclessness" (hey, I think I just made up a word!).

Does anyone know what time the character breakfast is? We have first seating, so I figure it will be fairly early. With my crew, if it is much before 9-9:30am we may just have to skip it, or go without the kids! It's no big deal one way or the other as we have done several of them before at DL and WDW. Dragging the kids out of bed, especially on vacation is not my idea of fun.

Sounds like the first west coast cruise went well overall, except for the jellies. Sure hope they aren't out in force when we cruise. Only 3 more weeks!

Cheryl

Hey Cheryl :wave2: I'll join you in the world of " doclessness" hahaha
My mom put in a call to the gal at AAA for our docs on late Thursday afternoon and she still hasn't gotten a call back. We'll be calling back monday since time is getting close and i want my docs!!!! :hourglass
I have no idea about the character breakfast as this is our first cruise but we have the early seating also along with DisneyDodger fan (Margaret) who is in our group of 16.
3 week countdown everyone!!!
Michelle

Well the June 4 cruise is off and they have put in their first report. From what they have said I don't think we will leave here till 11am to drive to port it is about 1 hr drive. DD hates waiting around and they have started boarding the ship about 12:30pm. It is great getting reports during the cruise and hope they keep coming.
I am still working on green heads I am going to make tags for carryon back pack so if we see anyone in waiting room they will know I am with the dis group. From what I have read it is going to be very warm in all the ports and it gets cooler as we come back into LA and since we are at sea the last day I am going to bring long pants for me. I hope everyone has gotten the doc or knows where they are . Cheryn and MICHELLE I hope you get yours soon. Well last week of school coming up and then boys will be off to stay with their dad till we cruise.

All of you that are traveling along on the June 24th Cruise.
I posted my DCL cruise tips on the Cruise forum page, post#8778848

Let me know your cruise tips.

I got my cuise documents on Thursday for the Cruise and for our three day stay at DL prior to the cruise. This means it is just a few weeks to the cruise. :cloud9:
Hope to meet up with many of you then.
