JUNE 2015 Discount Watch

Hi everyone!

We love Disney in June.
I am just now starting to look around. Hoping for 5 days onsite the first week of June.

This will be our 4th trip and we have always stayed Value and had the QSDP.
I am considering Carribean Beach Resort this time and no dining plan.

Any thoughts, suggestions?

We find we spend less by paying OOP for food rather than buying the QSDP. I always suspected that was the case, but last year when we went I kept track of every meal, drink, and snack receipt for our 7-day trip and totaled everything up when we got home. We ate whatever we felt like eating, when we felt like eating; we had a few snacks here and there (we're not big snack eaters); and we bought water/drinks at least twice a day for each of us (3 adults, 2 teens, and a tween) as I am not a pack mule so we don't carry water with us -- we just buy it when we want it (and yes, I know we can get it for free).

When I got home and added everything up (including the refillable mugs), we saved about $300 over the straight cost of the QSDP. And we didn't throw away the desserts and sides we didn't want to order in the first place with the dining plan.

Wow... thanks for that calculator link. It says it would cost about 66.00 more for the QSDP.

I am almost thinking that would be worth it, just to not have to worry about it.
My hubby can be a bit of a cheapo. LOL.

For $66 I'd probably go with the dining plan just for the simplicity. My DH can be a little frugal when it comes to spending money for food at Disney. Having the dining plan eliminates that stress. I tried that online calculator and it said we'd save $388 by not getting the dining plan (which is very close to our actual savings last year). Now that DH sees we can save money without the dining plan even without policing every food purchase, I'm hoping he can relax a little more when it comes to the food budget. :-) But again, for $66, I'd probably just get the plan.

I read on a different thread that people would use the calculator to estimate their food budget, then buy a gift card to use for meals. Kinda like the dining plan. Paid for before your trip so you don't have to worry about it.

We are going in June! Due to kids in high school and athletics we have to go in the summer now.

Anyway, I booked through the Magical Travel Agency Exclusive offers for

June 21-27th 2 rooms at POR with 5 day base tickets + bonus day at a waterpark or disney quest. 4 adults 3 disney adults and 1 infant for $3825.00 total. :cheer2:

I figured out it's saving us $1096.00 off of Disney's price for the same package, but no bonus admission to the waterpark through disney.

I for some reason a better deal comes along through disney my TA will switch it for me.

This is what we plan on doing on our June 2015 2 week trip. We're booked right now with the DxDDP, I plan on canceling that. I plan on putting 1/2 that money saved on a gift card and the other i'll use my DIsney Visa. We know for sure we will do a few character buffets since we are going with first time family members, and of course the hubs and I will dine at Narcoossees. But otherwise, it will be quick meals in the park. The DH & I normally split a meal, especially during the June heat, we drink water and don't get desserts. When we've gotten the DDP before, we normally refuse the desserts or throw them away. So I think we will be saving money this time.

Joining the thread. I visited WDW for the first time June 2013 with two of my kids. I loved it. DH and I were married 1/1/14 and he has never been to any Disney resort. Him, I and youngest DS are headed to DL in less then two weeks. Hoping he will love it and want to book WDW when we get back (it's between that and Hawaii).

I stayed at POP and CBR last time. Surprisingly I loved POP; fun atmosphere and great pool. Been seeing some good rates but waiting for a sale. Did not do the DDP last time but DH loves good food and is kind of sold on what he's heard so far. So that's the long of it...watching for a Sale and hoping to convert DH into a fan!! :)

Joining the thread. We usually go in Sept/Oct, but not able to do that anymore.
Hoping for some type of discount in mid June.

Joining the thread, also hoping for a discount. We are staying at Port Orleans Riverside June 13-20. We stayed at AoA last time, and realized if we had just switched hotels we could have gotten a discount. Lesson learned!

I thought the wait for the discounts was bad...Now I'm freaking out waiting on the park hours so I can plan dining! ugh

Me too!!!! I get to do my dining on 12/01..17 days! We are arriving 5/30, but obviously the bulk of our trip is in June, so those park hours are still hanging me up. :laundy: (I've always wanted a reason to use that....!)

Right now I am just using 2014 as a guideline hoping not much has changed since. As of today I am 197 days out from my summer trip, but we are also going for the day on 1/1/5 which is only 48. I snagged a reservation for dinner in Epcot that day, but I'm most worried for June! Anxiously waiting over here... :sad2:

I will be waiting right along with you! We are arriving May 30 also, and not knowing the park hours is driving me crazy!
My plan on December 1, is to grab CRT, Be our guest, O'Hana's and Cali grill and plan park days around those reservations. What restuarants are you wanting to book?
Hopefully, discounts will be announced sometime in January?:confused3 I will have to cancel or change my plans if no discounts are available. :(

Oh my, I have quite a list! This is our first time going as just a couple so my boyfriend told me to pick wherever I wanted to go.

As of now...prepare thyself...Raglan Road, Le Cellier, Tusker House, Yak & Yeti, Sci-fi (I know it's not great but I love it there since I was little!), Akershus, Coral Reef, 1900 Park Fare, BOG, and Crystal Palace.

That isn't it...my birthday is 6/2 and on that day, 'Ohana and Cali Grill! :lmao:

We are big eaters and look forward to having designated time to sit and rest. That said, I am sure a lot of these will be changed/cancelled! I would rather have them and cancel, than want them and be stuck without them. We've also done a good number of these on past trips, so some can easily be eliminated without worry of missing something.

Wow, me too, that kind of sneaked up on me. I have been busy with, going back to work after being a SAHM for 14 years, and my DD's wedding in Oct. I can't believe I can make ADRs in 17 days, well now 15 :yay:

All we need now, is an awesome discount!

I saw a link to the June 2015 hours on another planning website. I don't think I'm allowed to post a direct link, but it's Easy to find if you're doing online research for WDW. ;-)
