JUNE 2015 Discount Watch

Anyway, you can't have 2 discounts on one reservation so in order to use the Spring promo & the summer promo during our stay, we'd have to have 2 different reservations -- one for the first 2 days on the Spring promo and one for the last 5 days on the Summer promo.

We've got pretty much the same situation as you. Our trip is 6/13-20 so we have the current AP discount for the first 3 days and looking for the summer discount to apply to the remainder. I had asked earlier in this thread if we'd have to book the new discount on a separate reservation and got this response:

"...you would not have to book 2 separate reservations. If your trip falls over 2 different discount time frames they will just make the adjustment per day. And you just keep the original reservation number. They did this for our spring trip."

Seems your ta is saying that isn't how it's done. We'll break up the reservation if we need to, but I'd much prefer not having to!

Cakebaker- are you able to say who your agent is? I have an agent and I feel like I am always telling her when to call because I know more than she does. I had to tell her about BOG lunch reservations and then had to make them myself because she said she couldn't get through and I could try to get them when I arrived in Disney in June. ?! I found out about BOG breakfast through a friend and made reservations on my own. Again, this was something I thought she was supposed to do for me. Today I emailed her about discounts possibly coming out because I never hear from her. I just feel so frustrated. ....

I'd much prefer not to have 2 separate reservations as well. My TA did hint that there was a possibility that it could still be done as one reservation but I get the impression that it will require some string-pulling and will be dependent on the Disney Travel person on the other end of the phone. It will be nice if it happens, but I'm not counting on it -- it doesn't sound like it's a standard thing.

We don't have a ta. The information I got was just from another person posting here. I did some searching on it and it does seem to be that the pp's TA is correct. It's a pain to have to split up the reservation especially with 2 rooms booked but it would cost $800 in discounts not to- so we will if we have to. Not sure what that will do to booking FP+'s either. Ugh....

I think one of the things that is making the Spring & Summer promos challenging to book on one reservation this year is that they include "freebies" (implied for the summer promo -- not confirmed) on the ticket portion of the package. The Spring one offered the free day and the summer one (supposedly) will include free park-hopping. In order to get the free day of tickets, you had to buy at least a 4-day ticket (and the promo only saves ~$11/person on the tickets). I'm going to guess that to get the free park-hopping, you'll need to purchase at least a 4 day ticket as well (but save a lot more per person than a free day). If we booked the first two days of our trip on the spring promo and bought 4 day tickets and then booked the last 5 days of our trip on the summer promo, we'd end up with 10 days of park admission (4+1 on the first promo and 5 on the second one) when we'd only be going to parks 7 days because we leave at 6:00 a.m. on the final day. We'd probably end up losing money or maybe breaking even (I didn't figure out the exact cost). If it can even be done. I think in the past, the reason some people may have been able to combine 2 promos on one reservation is because the promos didn't include "freebies" on the tickets or they only booked a room-only discount. At least that's what it seems like -- I don't know for sure, I'm just guessing. It's the ticket portion that's causing headaches for my family.

I see what you mean with the tickets. Ours is a straight up AP discount. We don't have tickets tied to our reservation. I suppose we'll just have to wait and see how they do it, be glad when they finally come out and we get it settled! I really don't like the idea of splitting. I don't like even the smallest chance that we'd have to change rooms and I know it will mess with the ability to book FP+, but the discount is too much to consider not doing it.

Maybe you need to lose the TA and just rely on yourself and everyone here on the DIS!!! :thumbsup2
Seriously..... the TA doesn't do anymore than what we do here. We all have access to the same info, etc. The TA is a convenience and sounds like you are already on top of things here!! :thumbsup2:surfweb:

The only reason I personally got a TA (with an affiliated Disney travel person), is because they offered free passes for minigolf and Disney Quest + a coupon book for other activities for the same price as booking through Disney. This meant that I didn't have to get a 1 day of Water Parks + More just to do Quest.

Makes sense! :goodvibes But... just asking cuz I don't know.... don't you get those with a "package" anyway? regardless of who books it? I usually don't book packages so just don't know.

I've never been in charge of getting reservations and park tickets before, so I have no clue either. I only did restaurant reservations in the past.

So I have the 20% and free extra day on half my stay that was good until June 15. The last few days are regular pricing. I booked with a TA. If I had the new discount applied, would they have to rebook everything? I realize I should have done a split stay so I could get a free day on half and a free park hopper on half, but it's out of my hands now. I'll lose the free extra ticket by switching discounts, when the code is available to all, right?

Is it possible to shorten your initial reservation and split the stay elsewhere after you've booked?

I'm a bit confused why you would want to get two sets of tickets.

Even if you were able to get both discounts (free extra day worth $10 and free PH worth $64) you would wind up paying way more than if you just paid full price for a longer ticket.

Ex: 5 day ticket (includes free day) $324 + 4 day ticket (includes free PH upgrade) $324= $648
Vs a full priced 9 day PH ticket @$446

So those "freebies" would actually cost you over $200 per person.

It's much cheaper to just use one ticket for the whole length of your trip even if you wind up doing a split stay.

Well, apparently I've had some pixie dust sprinkled on me today! I just got a message from my TA saying she was checking on some things with Disney and apparently I had a PIN code under my name so she was able to apply it to my June reservation!!!!! :yay: No more worrying about how we're going to handle the 2 different promos. Now we have 15% off our room and free park hoppers which is saving us about $800. Wahoo!!! Hang tight everyone, that summer promo release date is so close I can smell it!

"Come on... BIG Room Only Discount... Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner!" - Hopefully me, in the near future, when checking this thread...

I'm still hopeful that since ours is room only AP discount, we won't have to do a split stay. I'm assuming a Visa discount first, followed by a general public discount, then AP so I may end up going through this twice more. Once for the Visa and then for the AP if it's any better. It was only slightly better for the early June discount, but between the 2 rooms, saved us about $100- that's a sit down meal at WDW!

I think you are right! I get all of my info from all of you!

Discounts released for Disney Visa card holders this morning. Up to 30% off rooms June 16-August 27. Excludes
All Star Movies, Art of Animation Mermaid Standard Rooms, Bay Lake Towers, Campsites at Fort Wilderness,
Port Orleans French Quarter, All 3 bedroom Villas, Villas at the Grand Floridian, and Villa Bungalows at the Polynesian.

Should open to the general public in a few days.

Thank you for the update! Good luck getting just what you want!

I got a PIN code discount yesterday so I'm good!!! However, I hope everyone else here waiting for discounts is able to get this applied to their reservations. And since it doesn't appear that the general public discount is offering anything in the way of a ticket discount or free add-ons (extra day or park hopping) like the Spring Promo and recent PIN codes have, it should make things a little easier for those people whose reservations fall over both the Spring *and* Summer promos (though it will still probably require 2 reservations, but now the tickets will only be covered by the Spring promo).

Bummer I missed out already, sigh, I tried all they had was two royal rooms, not sure why two, and no standard, it was over double the price
