JUNE 2015 Discount Watch

All I got was a mailing trying to get me to consider becoming a DVC member. Anxiously awaiting a summer discount!

I have a silly question for the people who have received codes. Did you already have reservations made at your Disney resort? I have been getting codes for about 18 months but have never been able to go on the dates the code was "good" for. I made reservations for this trip several months ago and have not received a code this time. Several of my local friends already have them so I am assuming it is not just held up by snail mail.

Thanks!

Every year I get a pin for sometime in May. We can never go because the kids are in school. I am sitting on the edge of my seat waiting and waiting for a summer offer to come out!!!

You shouldn't have to wait much longer. I've heard (from a reliable source) that discounts will be out by the end of this week. Not sure if that's the "early bird" date for Disney Visa holders or the general public. Either way....soon....very soon!

Now I will be glued to this thread....lol. Thanks for the heads up. Hoping it is for the general public!

Back in February I booked our June trip anticipating a summer offer coming out as it has for the past few years. Yesterday in the mail I received the anticipated pin code for up to 30% and free upgrade to park hoppers for trips booked 6/1-8/27. I've never had a problem applying this offer in previous years. When I excitedly called to book it, they said the rooms for that pin code were already sold out, but that I could book more expensive rooms! Ummm, no.

I was more than a little upset considering I called the EXACT SAME DAY I received the pin code. Regardless, you get more bees with honey than with vinegar, so I kept my cool and questioned how they can tell me an offer is booked up already when I literally JUST received the offer. They claimed the offer has been out a while which it may have been, but I JUST RECEIVED IT in the mail that day. It's totally bait and switch in my opinion. After LITERALLY 96 minutes on the phone and a lot of back and forth of my very politely standing up for myself, guest services was finally able to offer me the discount the pin code offered.

I was more than a little annoyed at the length of time I was initially on hold, the the length of time it takes Disney to figure things out and treat their customers properly, and the seemingly bait and switch tactic, but I'm glad it finally got taken care of. I hope others don't experience the headache I received and wonder how there can still be rumors of upcoming offers/codes when they are currently claiming to be sold out of rooms with a summer discount. I'm also curious what others' experiences are going to be with these supposed summer offers.

I do know that some people were posting about getting that pin code offer via e mail at least a week or so ago. So maybe enough of them booked and got the available rooms.

I agree with you that I did see others posting they received this or a similar offer a week or so ago and this is pretty much what the phone rep told me had happened. However, Disney (after a few years of experience in running this summer offer) should better anticipate guest response to such an offer and not STILL be sending out mailers long after they anticipate a sellout. I can't imagine that I am the only guest who tried to book the same day they received an offer and were told it's already sold out.

I think they only reason they caved to me is because I persisted and reinforced that you can't expect people to be okay with being told, "Sorry, sold out. But we have rooms for hundreds/thousands of dollars more even with the discount applied!" on the very day they received the discount offer.

I totally understand the frustration and I probably would have done the same thing. I'm glad you finally got something done. Now, I am just hoping I can apply a general summer code to my reservation when (if) it comes out.

I hope you get it, too. Every dollar saved can be used for a new experience or a dining experience or souvenirs. You know it's going to go back to Disney anyway! LOL

Of course!! LOL We haven't been in 6 years so I'm sure we will find a way to spend it. Thanks.

So I have the 20% and free extra day on half my stay that was good until June 15. The last few days are regular pricing. I booked with a TA. If I had the new discount applied, would they have to rebook everything? I realize I should have done a split stay so I could get a free day on half and a free park hopper on half, but it's out of my hands now. I'll lose the free extra ticket by switching discounts, when the code is available to all, right?

Is it possible to shorten your initial reservation and split the stay elsewhere after you've booked?

I feel the same way - thank you Melissa for posting your experience!

persistence paid off!

I initially had the Spring discount applied to only part of my stay as well. Because the new pin code out covers ALL of June now, you can just simply apply the summer offer to your whole vacation now. You get up to 30% off depending where you're staying AND park hoppers added at no extra charge. We ended up saving over $400 relinquishing the Spring offer and applying the Summer deal.

Do you mind my asking where you're staying? If it goes through for me, I'll likely save $120. Were you at a resort that was initially 20% that went up to 30%?

We are in the same position. We arrive on 6/14 so the first 2 days of our stay at AoA are booked on the Spring promo. My TA contacted me yesterday to come up with a plan for how we want to handle things when the Summer promo is released this week. She wouldn't/couldn't say exactly what the summer promo is but based on our conversation, I think it's going to be about the same as the recent PIN codes but covering fewer dates. Anyway, you can't have 2 discounts on one reservation so in order to use the Spring promo & the summer promo during our stay, we'd have to have 2 different reservations -- one for the first 2 days on the Spring promo and one for the last 5 days on the Summer promo. If we go that route, we'll have to check out and check in again on the 3rd day of our trip. And we could have to change rooms (though based on what I've read over the years, most people seem to be able to stay in the same room when doing this). My TA did imply that the summer promo would save us more money than the spring promo so she & I are working on a few other scenarios (like changing our arrival date to 6/16) to maximize our savings.
