If you use your Target card, it gives 5% off. You can purchase Disney gift cards at Target.

Nice! You are serious! I just have a figure in my head that I am unwilling to go over, and as long as I can hit that with at least a 25% discount, we are good to go. I am buying up as many Disney GCs as I can with my Target Red Card and with that I will get another 5% off whatever discount we do wind up getting.

That's awesome! We've been buying the Disney gift cards at Kroger when they do the 4x fuel points, so we're saving a little money that way. I'm also putting literally EVERYTHING on the Disney Visa card to build up as many points as possible.. the more points, the less out of pocket.

I'm with you though, we have a number that I just won't go over. If we get at least 25% then we're good.... I know that if we only get a 20%, my DH is going to want to do it. (so I had to add that to the budget spreadsheet too.. yikes.)

I've never thought about how saving different levels of resorts would generate different PIN levels. Hmmm, might have to try that.

I've always just saved vacations that we're thinking of taking....adding different ticket options and dates..etc. I am definitely going to have to save some Deluxe vacations just to see if I can get another PIN for 2013. I got one this year and it was good on Deluxe resort levels, as well as the other levels, but free dining was a better deal for our family so I chose it.

Hello, I think we just decided on the week of June 8th-15th...about 10 mins ago. My wife made a career change a few years back and became a teacher, so now our windows of opportunity are greatly limited. The beginning of June doesn't look horrible on the crowd calendar though, so we are excited.

We normally go in the Fall/Winter, and we always got some sort of deal, whether it was free dining or just a room discount. So now I am trying to decide between waiting for a code/deal, or renting DVC points. So historically, are there usually some deals in June? I know there always seem to be deals in the Fall.

Sorry if this information is in the thread, I haven't read it all yet, but I will. We are just excited and I wanted to post...

That is the exact week I have gone the last 4 summers in a row! This year we are going later in June just to not feel so rushed iwth school letting out and then taking off. Historically that week you are going is 30 or 25% off. Discounts usually come out end of year early January and historcially extend to the 14th and then the next wave is 15th on droppping a few percent 15th on....

I had someone else PM the same question! am I scaring you guys??? Well my ticker should say our 5th I will never go back in the summer trip...not 4th! Didnt' update it yet so that should tell you something! Our summer trips started in 2009 for Star Wars weekend. IT IS HOT. Especially the parade there in mid day etc. STar Wars weekends are hot and very very crowded. That is sort of what you get. That being said if you rope drop, take your break and come back later, it is very do-able. The best day for SWW is Sunday, Fridays are the worst....We did STar WArs in 2009 and 2010 and sort of had our fill on Star Wars but if you are a fan it is a must see must do and am happy to have done it. It just is very crowded. We manage the heat fine - 2009 was the worst, heat wave 112 heat index was tough. 2012 was pleasant....no worse than my Pgh,Pa temps!

So just plan for crowds, rope drop, take an afternoon table service break, leave by 2 and come back after dinner. We have grown to LOVE the summer. Longer park hours, awesome swimming weather for storm along bay, double fantasmic, double parades... A LOT of flexibility. We must be old pros b/c we didn't even use our misty fans this summer! You will be fine. It is a very popular time to go so JUST PLAN ACCORDINGLY and ROPE DROP. The earlier in June the better for crowds and heat....Melissa

In the past we have stayed club level and the rooms are scarce for garden view. So I have booked EARLY and then applied the discount when it rolled out and never had a problem. This past summer I was blessed enough to get a 35% off pin code but that only applied to part of my trip due to availability so if you are staying at a resort with a certain room category you must have, book now..

I personally wouldn't bank on anything past 25% IMO. But if you book now with AAA at 10 - 18% then a slight bump when the sale released will help..... Buget for 20 and be pleasantly surprised otherwise!

I totally agree....we're actually budgeting for the 20% and keeping our fingers crossed!!

I'm totally with you! I think though that no matter what happens, I'm going to book us at WL in November. We've all got to make our dining ADR's the beginning of December! So I want to have our package booked before that time so I can tie our ADR's to our dining package. Then if (when) the discounts come out, I'll change our package to the GF (hopefully). I am crossing my fingers / toes and anything else I can!! And I hope too that we at least get a 25% off discount.

It's amazing, the last time we went in 2010 we got one of those pin codes good for the whole year @ 40% !!! I can't even imagine getting one of those again!! I think I'd have to hug someone at Disney!!!

Thank you for the details ScottMel We used to only go in the summer, when our first 2 were born. Then we went one year in December and we were hooked but it was still kind of cold so we backed up a few months to October and found our perfect fit.

The 2012 dates were announced early December 2011. But if it follows the same pattern as the last several years, it should start Fri May 17 and end Sun June 9.
