Bumping us back up to page one :sunny:

What is the website you all booked through for the Hilton? The American one is through May of 07--

I talked to DCL yesterday, and they said that there is a huge convention in town that week and hotel rooms will be hard to get. They have a waitlist going, but I think we better book our own if we are planning on coming in a few days before.

I will ask about the transfers from other hotels to the port when I speak with them today.

Hi Teresa,

Have been trying to do a search on Barcelona and not coming up with any convention there for June 07.

We booked the Hilton on the UK site as they sfor some reason do go up until .07 It is on www.Hilton.co.uk. Last time I looked they did have availability.

I know that someone has found a British couple who have an apartment to rent out minimum 3 days though and that was on ebay. This was a 2 bedroom so is ideal if you have children and was very reasonable.

Will check out details again if anyone is interested - I know it was a lot cheaper than hotels.

Know the Hilton Hotel is one that Disney did have availability at so assume their transport will service that hotel but would rather get a taxi down from the airport if it is too long a wait. Think it is going to be difficult to tie up all the flights coming into Barcelona but knowing Disney expect thye will have it all sorted.

Would welcome any information anyone can find out as I believe it is $59 per person but no idea what this includes.

Hope Leilani is having a good trip - weather is unseasonable here with gales and the promise of rain. I say promise because of the draught we have had for the last two years.

Hope everyone has a great weekend and look forward to seeing more posts soon, we are getting way too far down at times.

We have reserved a room at the Daigonal Mar but when I looked last night they were showing no availability at that hotel only their other one in town.

Will hold on to this room regardless as it would appear that something strange is going on in Barcelona at that time - will try and find out more.

Which hotel in Barcelona did everyone book--the Diagonal or the Barcelona?

We reserved a room at the Hilton Barcelona. I think 2 rooms for 2 nights. I used the Hilton UK website. I am hoping that more rooms open up once we get past the 1 year mark. I would prefer to stay at the Hilton Diagonal because it has a pool and is close to the beach.

The UK website now says no availaiblity, and the Casa Camper said they did have rooms and now says we cannot book till September-- :furious:

Dont they know that :hourglass is ticking? Dont they know that Disney cruise people PLAN??

Dont they know that I will look like this  if it is not settled a year ahead of time? :rotfl:

With a combination of doe eyes, promises of 2 rasul's, etc. I've convinced my husband to forget the RCI to Med. and have booked the DCL June 16th 11 day. :cool1: (Myself, husband 2 sons (will be 15 & 12). We're booking our own air but we are getting the Disney transportation. It says from the airport to the port but we're flying in a day early. Will Disney take us from the hotel to the cruise instead? I assume that as long as we stay in one of the hotels that they've put up other DCL cruisers it won't be a problem, but are those hotels full? Sorry, I seem to not have good luck searching the threads on this. Thanks! :)

Have checked the ba. site and they are showing availability at some hotels in Barcelona for the night of the 15th June. Am watching closely as have reserved the Diagonal but it is far from reasonable price I think and assume they will drop the price and do deals later.

I have also wondered about the Disney transport and how it is going to work with everyone coming in from different places. Assume they will service all the hotels on their recommendation link but think we will have to wait and see.

The other Hilton hotel had availability last night.

Weather here still absolutely terrible and so cold for this time of year to say nothing of the rain, storms, wind and then sometimes sunshine. Strange weather pattern.

Trying to plan what to take this weekend as we are going to stay with our daughter in Guernsey (Channel Isles) and the other daughter who lives in Jersey (also Channel Isles) is flying over on the Saturday. With the weather like this think I will need an extra suitcase with winter stuff again.

Do hope that LeiLani is not having too bad a time up in Scotland - think also they are getting plenty of rain.

Just talking to someone who has just returned from Italy and they did Pompeii and only allowed three hours and said it was a bit rushed. They also did Capri on the Hydrofoil from Sorrento. The Amalfi ride is also something that is well worth doing but the road is very winding and last time we went narrow. It is absolutely beautiful and should not be missed. Just a few thoughts on places worth a visit from Naples.

Hi Surroundedbyboys(do I know that feeling, even the dogs are male!)

Welcome to our Medhead cruise! If you want to be added to the webpage please pm me your information--it is always fun to see where everyone is staying! :cool1:

Brenda I am still not having luck with the website for the UK. :confused3

I know everything will work out, just not as quickly as I would like!

We are thinking of renting an apartment in Barcelona for a few (3-4) days before the cruise. Frommers has some good websites to look at. There are a variety of sizes and locations. We are looking to stay near the cathedral (but have been warned about not going in the south side).

Anyone else have ideas?

Greetings to all -- had a great weekend with family and friends celebrating birthdays & anniversaries. Weather in Cincinnati was unseasonably warm (90 deg F) but since all the swimming pools opened, we went swimming. The hot weather also got our family prepared for next weekend trip to WDW at the BWV. We are trying the Disney Dining Plan this time -- hopefully, it will help us relax by eating a sit-down dinner every night and we will be trying new restaurants especially over at Epcot.

Best to all over the next couple of weeks -- we did purchase a Italy travel book in preparation for picking the right excursion. Check back with you when we return.

Hi Everyone,

Just back from a long weekend with our daughters in Guernsey. Problems just flying that short distance on Friday as the islands were all covered in fog and only two planes managed the journey others had to turn around and return to Gatwick. Ours left about 7.p.m. instead of 3.30 and although we could not see the ground he made it. Our daughter was flying in from Jersey on the Saturday and although it is only a 10 minute flight had to return to Jersey and fly back a couple of hours later. Rest of weekend was wonderful and we caught the boat to Herm and walked right round the Island.

Any news on the transport and Disney hotels in Bacelona yet. Must catch up.

I bought an Italy for Dummies book (and already owned Europe for Dummies)- I can recommend these as having a lot of interesting information- including 10 useful words/phrases, etc. :)
Has anyone else jumped to the conclusion that the reason why Disney is saying a 1pm embarkation/10pm sailing is so they can sell shore excursions for that first day in Barcelona? I'd love to go on a Tapas Tour! :cool1:

When do you think Disney will list the shore excursions. I am trying to decide if I want to book private tours and what the cost difference would be. Since we will have our kids, DS almost 9 and DD 6, with us, I thought I could cater the private tours with them in mind and it would be more fun.

A customer service CM said maybe by February. She said she didn't know that for a fact, that was "just the talk". :confused3 They're VERY closed lipped about it. I would look up shore excursions through RCCL and do a comparison there- you would assume that they're going to be similar?
