June 16, 2007 MedHead Cruisers

We're going on a roller coaster tour this summer. We'll hit Cedar Point, then drive down to D.C. just to say there was an educational reason for our trip. Then we're going to Busch Gardens Williamsburg. DS is trying to kill me by putting me on as many big, fast, nasty roller coasters as he possibly can. Wish me luck. :3dglasses

Hey, Lisa! We lived in Austin for years. I taught at Burnet Middle School in what was then North Austin. (It has grown so much, that's hardly North Austin any more.) But we lived in an apartment off of Enfield. But we miss it so much. We still have many friends there.

Hey Y'all!

I wondered what everyone had planned for the rest of the year? I have three trips to WDW planned--One for DS's graduation in a few weeks, One for work in October (cannot wait--getting to see MNSSHP and the Haunted Hayride for the first time--and Hoop de Doo then too!) Then we are using our points and going back for Thanksgiving (ok we are cheap--had points we needed to use and wanted to use our AP's ONE MORE TIME before they expired :rotfl: )

What is everyone else got on tap for this year?

:bounce:

Hey Silver 7,

I thought I was a Disney Fan with 3 trips to WDW in 10 months but you have 3 trips in 6 months. We are going June 4 as soon as the kids finish school on June 1st to BWV for a week (16 hour drive). We are going Dec 9 for a 4 day weekend staying at GF and got our tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and airline tickets. I am in the middle of booking a Grand Villa at OKW for April 2007 (Spring Break).

We are doing the AP for the first time -- we are living under the delusion that these trips are practically free with no lodging or park tickets cost. :lmao:

Hi, I am just checking in....haven't been on this thread for quite some time! I am a college student and we just got done with exams so I am just starting to remember what free time is!

This hotel situation sounds like it's really a mess. I had no idea we needed to book this far in advance. We are booked with a TA and I just assumed I could contact her when we knew when we were arriving in Barcelona and she would be able to get us our nights at whatever hotel Disney was using. Guess I was wrong, I need to call and get on that waitlist!

As far as upcoming Disney trips...
Our whole family is going to Old Key West (DVC members) for 2 weeks this July/August!!! My sister is doing the WDW college program and we need to get her all settled in. I know I will miss my sister tremendously and then she mentions to me that cast members get 50% off hotel rooms so I will be using her discount for a solo trip to Pop Century over my fall break in October. Then I am going with my parents to Animal Kingdom Lodge/Old Key West for New Year's Eve/beginning of January. Both my sister and my mom will be running the half marathon and my 21st birthday is on New Year's Eve so that should be a great trip!!! :cool1: Then just tonight my mom said to me "I am sure going to miss being with my whole family for Thanksgiving, maybe we should go to Disney to be with your sister..." sounds like another trip in the works, gotta love DVC!

Hope everyone is doing well, I'm getting excited as we approach the one year mark!

Oh also, wasn't I supposed to PM someone with our room numbers and names for a website? Who was that again? I've forgotten! :rolleyes1

Most of our trips are booked over the summer right now. Not all Disney, though I wish they were. I leave next Wednesday for a 10 day trip to Scotland with my Mom and Dad. Then in June we are doing a girls trip to New York City and Niagara Falls. It will be me, DD's, my Mom, Mom's sister, and DH's Mom. In July Brittany and I will be doing college visits. We are going to do a week long(or maybe longer) trip through Virginia, North Carloina, and South Carloina. Then at the end of July Alyssa and I will go to my Mom's in North Florida for a short visit then it's on to WDW for a week, where we will meet up with Brittany.(She will be in Daytona on Caravan with the youth group from church) And last but not least, we are on the August 12th 7 day cruise. Rich will fly in for this one and we are taking my parents and his parents. So it is going to be a very busy summer.

Silver7 is the one taking all the information. Her son has done a great website for us.

And now a T.O.P. for this Friday morning!

We have a busy weekend around here. "Fun Fair" at Alyssa's school tonight, soccer tomorrow morning, Britt has prom tomorrow night, and then Mother's Day on Sunday. Boy, it is going to be crazy. And I still have to pack for my trip next week.

Hi Everyone,

Summer is here at present in England and am making the most of it.
Clear blue skies and plenty of sunshine.

Anyone got any more information on the hotel problems? Sent an email to DU but they have not responded- do not know why they have been excellent up until now.

We have not much planned for the rest of the year - trip to see our daughters who live in the Channel Isles (one in Jersey and one in Guernsey)
They both work in off-shore banking there and it will be lovely to see them again.

Have a great weekend everyone.

When are you coming over to England LeiLani - will keep a watch on the weather reports for you.

Hoping everyone has a nice mother's day weekend :)

We are looking forward to a nice one here - no more hail and tornadoes or 100 degree weather. Just clear and 80's.

Julie - how long have you been gone? I've been here 5 years and things have changed so much - all good.

Is anyone else thinking of a side trip to DLP - or - has anyone been there before?

Lisa

Lisa,
We've been gone from Austin for 15 years now. We still go back frequently to visit, though. It's gotten so much bigger. (Not to say that it was a small town to begin with, though.)
We are thinking of a side trip to Paris. DLP isn't high on our priority list, but if Disney arranges a post-cruise trip to Paris / DLP, we'll probably take it if it goes into Paris as well.

Julie

We are planning a trip to DLP prior to the cruise. Plan to take the train from Paris to Barcelona, but we are worried about what this idea will do to airfares.

Brenda - I leave for Scotland on Wednesday the 17th and we will be in London on the 20th and 21st. Not a lot of time, but just a quick trip to see the sights. I hope the weather stays nice. I think you must have sent winter back to us. It has turned rainy and cold here. We should be in the low 70's but it is only going to be 47 today.

Lisa - we are planning a side trip to Paris but not sure if we are going to do DLP or not. We decided to wait and see how our time goes in Paris and if we have an extra day then we might go to DLP.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!!!!!

I have been MIA from the boards for awhile. Glad that school is almost done. My kids get out on May 24th and 25th. In the mean time I am planning my daugther's 5th b-day party for next Saturday. She turned 5 on May 12th.

We have busy summer. We are going to PA in June for my DH's niece's graduation from high school. I am going to try and take my kids to Seasame Place before they get too old for the cookie monster. In July we are going to Hawaii for a week with my DH's brother and his family as a graduation trip for my DH's niece. We always go to Palacios, TX for 4th of July. My DS turns 8 at the end of July, so big party then.

Have a great day!!!!!!

Happy Mother's Day all you mothers out there.

I want to go on my cruise. Could REALLY use a few days on a quiet cruise ship right now. (Not that I think there will be anything quiet about our Med cruise, mind you -- except the days at sea.)

Ahhhhh, but I can think about it, at least.

Good Morning/Afternoon Everyone!

Just trying to give us a little bump up since we had fallen to page 2. I am trying to get all the last minute stuff done today because tomorrow I leave for Scotland. It will be interesting to see how my family does without me for 10 days. I have a ton of things to do today so I better get going. I hope everyone has a great day, and if I don't get back on I will talk to you when I get back.

Hi LeiLani,

Have a great trip over this way. Weather down in the South of England is very mixed at present and so hope it is good for you in Scotland.

Will have a look at the weather forecast for Scotland - not that you can really rely on that and will look forward to hearing all about it when you get back home.

Hi Leilani

Have a great time! Are you going to see any castles?

Teresa the envious princess:

We are planning to fly into Barcelona from Tampa (via London) and then take the train that night to Paris. The plan is to stay in DLP for 4 days and do one tour of the city before heading back to Barcelona to get on the boat.

We will have our 6 year old son with us, so I think we are just going to hit some of the highlights of Paris.

Thanks so much Brenda and Teresa! I think I am about ready. Everything is packed and ready for me to take off in the morning. I am flying out of Minneapolis so I have to leave here around 4:30 in the morning so I am off to bed. Talk to everyone when I get back and keep the thread on page 1.

Teresa - oh yes, castles are definetly on the schedule. Dad is playing golf and Mom and I are touring the country side looking for castles. We are even staying in one near Edinburgh so it should be fun.

Talk to you later!

Just wondering if it is worthwhile booking the transfers and how they work. We of course will be arranging our own flight from Gatwick and wonder if we will then have to wait around at Barcelona until other flights come in perhaps for hours.

We have provisiionally booked at the Hilton so that is on the schedule for Disney.

Just wondering if anyone can find out this information or know already how this will work.

Thanks to everyone.
Dont forget if I can be of any help from England am pleased to assist.
