June 15, 2012 - 2 Night Getaway on the Disney Magic from NYC!

I've booked this cruise with DVC points, but haven't heard anything yet. But I will be there w/ Amypm!

Hi All,

We are sailing on the July 2-Day Cruise. I was hoping that when you return you can give a brief overview of what is offered on this short sailing. We have heard many rumors concerning shows, restaurants and future booking desks. I would love to hear if everything is like a 3-day or longer cruise or if Disney is holding back. We have sailed a few times with Disney and are familiar with what is offered.

I am particularly interested in finding out if we can book a future cruise.

Thanks for your help and have a wonderful cruise!!!!!

Curious what rumors you heard. I even called and got a rude CM who told me it was up to the captain to decide whether there would be future booking. Huh? Don't think so. Told to ask a supervisor who said the 2 day is such a new thing they had no idea what we should expect about anything. Lovely customer service.

Ultimately, the captain is responsible & in charge of everything on the ship but I think DCL would be crazy to not open the Future Cruise Desk. I'm guessing the whole point of the 2 night cruises would be to hook guests new to DCL.

Scooby Doo, I'm also on the July 2-nt. I posted on here a while back requesting that someone from the June 2-nt post their Navigators. I'd love to see them & surely I can't be the only one. Probably Aug weekenders would appreciate them too. :goodvibes

Basically I have read just chatter here on the boards. They are just rumors that I don’t want people confusing with facts.

I have read that there would not be dining rotations. We would be eating in one restaurant for the two nights. I believe this is not the case since I called and was told that there are three different dining rotations. Also, there were no fireworks or pirate party, now they seem to be on. I read someplace here that the cruise desk would not be open. Like I said, they are just a bunch of rumors.

I totally agree with ruadisneyfan2. DCL would be crazy not to open booking for future cruisers. I have convinced my brother-in-law to sail the 2-day "shorty” just so I can get him and his family hooked on cruising with Disney. I am hoping to book a longer cruise with his family.

I guess we will find out this weekend. :confused3

Like I said before…I hope everyone has a magical weekend on the Magic!!!!

just got a message on home phone. DVC is having a members gathering on our cruise on Friday at 2:30. There will be prizes, not sure if a give-away or raffle. I know that sometimes they have free drinks. Yippee.

:thumbsup2Thanks, we are DVC, but didn't receive the call -- will plan on joining :)

Have a great time everyone!! :cool1:

A bit rough seas, but awesome weekend nonetheless! I haven't been on a cruise since 2008, and I loved the little improvements. Smaller portions of food so you could try a few without filling your plate and feeling gluttonous, the Wave phones were GREAT for keeping in contact with my daughter (texting and calls), although for some reason her phone was labelend "Character hotline" on my phone, so I didn't answer it the first few times, thinking "I don't want a message from them, I can read the Navigator myself'!

for the first time I tried a cooking demonstration, and I will definitely go back again. Was inspired enough to try it at home. I can't say the same for the Animator's class. My Goofy looked more like a young Max, so I'll leave the artistic labels to my sons. No, boys, I will not try to draw again!

Had a GREAT server at Palo for dinner and tea. He immediately recognized that I was traveling with a friend I haven't seen in 5 years, so he was careful to arrive during breaks in conversation, not overbearing, and just generally friendly. I took his recommendation for the lamb, and it was amazing! A bit sad High tea is going away, as it was a very pleasant part of the cruise, but so glad I was able to book it.

We didn't attend the Pirate Party; we were shopping and lost track of the time. Yes there were fire works, but I didn't mind missing them, as I was with my 14 year old daughter shopping. In December my whole family (husband and 8 children) are cruising, and I'll be sure not to miss it (already bought the younger boys eye patches and telescopes--drew the line at hooks, imagining all the injuries with 4 young brothers with hooks--yikes!).

We rotated dining. I got my first choice, Lumiere's (don't recall the menu because that was Palo night, but if anyone has previously scanned menus, it's the one with the cold cucumber soup and calamari for appetizers; can't find my navigator at the moment), Animator's Palate (there wasn't the usual first night show, but they did an abbreviated version with the lights, and then combined it the flag parade, Baked Alaska, and I think the menu was "til we meet again"). The desserts menu had a new offering, a small taster of the three top desserts, which I thought was perfect, because I can never choose between at least two, and this way I didn't have to have two full plates. I highly recommend both the Beef Wellington and the Seafood linguini. My daughter thought the lamb was great too.

Since I was without most of my children, I tried to do some more adult or late night events. Aside from those already mentioned, I attended a few trivia games (you have a better chance of winning if you attend in the early AM; there was only one other person at the am music trivia, so we both "won" a key chain!), wheel of fortune, family karioke and dance party in the Promenade lounge. LOTS of fun!

I like the fairly new additional option of purchasing a CD with 6 or unlimited photos. We chose 6, and were able to view all of them at our leisure at home before choosing which ones to unlock. The CD has the copyright letter attached, and when you unlock the photos you have the copyright permission to post directly onto facebook from the photo's site, so that was nice too. I liked the kiosks where we could swipe our room key and see everything as it was uploaded. One question. If you have rooms that are linked on your reservation, can you see everyone's photos or only your stateroom #? We have 3 rooms linked next cruise, so should I have everyone in group shots only use my KTTW card?

All in all, a great weekend, definitely worth it! Now on to plan for our Dream vacation in December!

Yes, it was open, but no need for me to stop by yet because we have cruise #5 booked for December. Will definitely be booking then!

I loved the 2 night cruise more then I thought I would. It was awesome seeing old friends who worked on the ship and meeting new ones who I hopefully might see in August when I do a 8 night. The nightclub seemed more active this cruise for sure, maybe because it was a 2 night, but it still full at 2:30am in the morning the last night.
