June 15, 2012 - 2 Night Getaway on the Disney Magic from NYC!

Oh no. Sorry to hear about your beloved Winston. It is always so hard to lose an important four legged member of the family. He is up there in doggie heaven hoping you'll have a great time on the cruise!

Beth

Thank you, Beth! I know he is!!! :goodvibes

Hi all,

This trip is coming at the right time. My wife and I made the difficult decision to put our 13-year old basset hound, Winston, to sleep yesterday. I'm a wreck. He was my boy. We did everything together. He had cancer that we only found out about last month. He went down hill quickly. I am glad that we were home when it all happened. I don't know what I would have done if he passed while we were away.

So, if you see a guy looking very melancholy on a our Disney cruise, its probably me. This cruise is the first leg of our B2B and we will have friends joining us for the 2nd leg. I promise that I'll do my best to have a good time. Its hard not to on a Disney cruise. :goodvibes

Honestly we know exactly how you feel. We had to do the same 2 years ago, [been through it 3 other times] and said no more animals can't do it again. PS our house was so empty we ended up adopting 2 rescued Labordoodles!! We felt this was in memory of our past sweet dogs. If we see a melancholy guy we'd be more than happy to buy you a glass of "cheer".

sorry for your loss...all of us who have four-legged babies feel the pain at one time or another (my Disboard name comes from my Siberian Husky Miss Fitt Katie Scarlett who passed two years ago). Winston was fortunate to have such loving humans in his life.

Been there too with my kitty Leo. Then to make matters worse, had my stupid BIL call me a cat-killer. :crazy2:

Hope you find a way to have a good cruise anyway. :goodvibes

Soo very sorry to hear about your pet!! Thinking of you!!

Did you all see Friday night is Pirate Night? Saw a thread on the main board and checked my reservation - I don't remember seeing it on the itinerary before but it is listed there now.

Very excited:cheer2:

Wow,that is good news,I like seeing the fireworks, and Mickey on the zip line, and Jack Sparrow is pretty cool, too.

Confirmation on that pirate night came from Disney...we called to make sure both nights at dinner were casual and they told us about Pirate night

So I guess fireworks will be happening Friday night...too bad my son hates the noise so much he completely freaks out. We are on a mad search through the house to find his iPod now. That should help!

How old is DS? If you distract him in the interior of the ship while the fireworks go off, he may not even hear them.

I'm pretty excited that on Friday I'll get to see Kat, Frankie, Tisa and other friends I know who work on the Magic.

Thank you, all!! I know many of you understand the feelings my wife, Lauren, and I are going through. On the first night at dinner, let's all do a silent toast to all of our four-legged family members who are waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. Let's all have a great time on this cruise!! :grouphug:

He is 7. Thing is he loves pirates and the pirate party show...just freaks out at the end. We were just in WDW and he did better at epcot. He basically was inside the Rose & Crown with the iPod on and was watching out the window. first time without tears! Hoping the iPod will do the trick this time ... Plus the fireworks off the ship aren't nearly as long lasting as the park shows

Our ship will be back in NYC,waiting for us very soon. We do not usually get dressed up for Pirate night, maybe just wearing the bandanas given out at dinner. Does anyone know if we can see the fireworks from Palo? We will be there for 8:30 dinner. Or will the fireworks start after our dinner is finished?

Not sure when fireworks start - we'll be in Palo at the same time as you

Usually the fireworks on pirate night start at 10:30pm. Are they definitely having them on the 2nt cruises? For some reason I thought they weren't but it's possible I'm getting confused with the Alaskan cruises.

Hi! We also have Palo at 8:30 friday night!!!!!! How crazy is that? Palo is going to be filled with disboard members!

I have no confirmation of fireworks but did get confirmation from Disney that Friday night is pirate party and they usually go hand in hand. The only time they usually don't is in Alaska where they are not allowed to shoot them off.

We'll be finishing up at Palo when you all arrive - we'll make sure to wave :wave2:

My online itinerary says the Pirate Party starts at 9:45 and lasts until 10:30. The party description is the standard one that says "...ends with a buccaneer blast starring Mickey Mouse and a spectacular fireworks show"

I hope the description is accurate :goodvibes
