June 14, 2011 - Father's Day on the Wonder in ALASKA!

Got the modem swapped out and put in a full day's work but got a few more "can you do this before you go?" requests - ugh. Don't these people understand I'm trying to be in vacation mode? I did get the freezer cleaned out last night - we have two frig's and will shut the old one down while we're away so I had to make room. Apparently we don't like broccoli as I found numerous bags stuck in the back from early 2010. Put them in the yard for the critters to eat.

Nathan's laundry is done for packing so as soon as I post this, I'm going to put aside the things he's taking so he'll be the first of us ready to go. Zachary gets his done tomorrow.

I don't have a preference about name tags.

I did call and confirm our hotel reservations today - all set for Vancouver!

Hi, Cindy...yep, got one of those "I need this before you leave" projects from the CEO and COO on Friday...got the report knocked out today. Keeping fingers crossed that I have one annual performance review to perform, and a couple to countersign...and hopefully that's IT! :wizard:

Matthew has started his packing list. I did some minor repairs to the FE tonight, and will do mine on Saturday (after some last minute laundry).

Is it time to set sail yet??? :surfweb:

Send us an e-mail if you end up in Victoria.

We spent a week in whistler a few years ago and loved it. The drive is amazing.

Larry

Just checking in. We leave on Saturday. We're staying at the Sheraton Wall center.

We're thinking of driving the Sea to Sky Highway to Whistler. We're also considering the ferry to Vancouver Island.

Safe travels to everyone!

Hope to see you all in Vancouver, aboard ship. Hank and I (Lois) will be the "old" guys of the bunch. I'm retired teacher/administrator. Hank retired Army pilot. We are so lookin forward to meeting u all!!!:teacher::teacher:pirate:

Oh yikes -we leave the day after tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And for those keeping track, yesterday I got TWO more projects assigned with a "pretty please can you get these done before you leave?" - seriously, I've let people know for the last two months that I'll be out two weeks in June so if there was something they needed, please get it to me early. Next year I might just not let anyone know besides my boss and just duck out for the week. Seriously.

Anyway, today is finish the laundry, start putting things in the suitcase day. tomorrow is Gary cleans the house and mows the lawn day while I panic :) Then Friday we're off to ATL to fly out Saturday.

We are really looking forward to so many aspects of this trip, and making new friends is one of them. Can't wait to meet you all.

We leave in four days. The plumber is on his way to our house. Water has buckled our hardwood floor. My husband took out a corner. The water is coming from inside our shower wall. No way to the pipe without tearing through drywall. It seems the house always knows when we are going on vacation and tears up.

We can't wait for the cool weather on the trip. I keep reading excursion reports but people aren't posting much. None of mine have been posted except dog musher camp and they haven't been good. We hate to cancel because that is the one my daughter wants to do. Anyone heard about kayak at Mendenhall. I thought maybe it wasn't open during previous cruises because of weather.

I feel like I have forgotten o lack something. Anyone else feel that way?

We started the packing project last night. Man I wish we could bring everything we wanted to :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm trying to not take too much stuff, we'll see :confused3:confused3

Two more days of work, and like most of you, have several last minute things to take care of. My list keeps growing:confused:

the weather report for Vancouver for Sunday and Monday is 65-ish and partly cloudy. That i can do:)

be safe in your travels and we'll see on board the Wonder, if not before!!

Hmmm...I'm beginning to believe that we're going to be the last to depart. We fly out early Monday morning.

Cindy, I almost...ALMOST told my boss about the "one more project please" discussion we were having...but I didn't, fearing she'd give me yet another one. :rotfl2:

It sounds like we have everything in place. I'll bring extra spreadsheets, in case someone forgets theirs. We also have the maps and the "Hello, my name is..." thingies. lol

Yep, sounds like we're set. Except for the packing.....

See y'all in under a week!

Hmmm...I'm beginning to believe that we're going to be the last to depart. We fly out early Monday morning.

We fly out at 6:40 am Monday. Are you still the last to depart

I'm actually glad to have the weekend to get organized! Happy travels everyone.

Yes, it sounds like it. Our flight from Cincinnati leaves at 7:30 a.m. After a transfer at Sea/Tac, we'll be in Vancouver around 2:45 p.m.

My kids favorite people on our 1st cruise were an older couple they met at pin trading every night from our DIS meet group. We'll all have fun. I feel like we need to add to our name tag: "teacher," "retired teacher," "married to a teacher," etc.

We got home from our San Fran trip. On our way to show the boys redwood trees, we stopped at the gift shop (no tour) to buy some Korbel champagne. They also have something special their that's not sold in stores. I'm dreamin of sipping it on my balcony & an "All Hands on Deck" cheese platter from room service

I managed to pick up a sinus/double ear infection so the flight home was :sad2:

Now we need to do some serious packing if I can ever stop hacking & being dizzy. There are piles everywhere! :scared1: Scott has been great about doing :laundy: while I recover & do a little here & there. I'm on antibiotics, airborne, mucinex, & fell that if I could just fly in my own little bubble suit this wouldn't happen. And the poor guy's nursing my burn.

You'll recognize me as the one w/ the big bandage on her lower right arm.

If anyone's coming to Whistler, give us a PM asap & I'll give you our number.

Happy packing! Safe Travels! See you soon.....:dance3::yay::banana::dance3::yay::banana::dance3::yay:

Remember I've got color copies of the ship for deliveries for everyone. Don't waste you ink.

Hi everyone,

I finished up the name tags yesterday. I think they came out well. For those of you not keeping track, we have 91 people on the FE list. :scared1: If you're not on the FE list and would like me to make you a name tag for the meet, send me a PM ASAP and I'll get one made for you.

I have to work today, but then am off until the 27th. :cool1:

Em and I will finish up the packing and our door magnets tomorrow, and we fly out at the butt crack of dawn on Saturday.

I am so ready for the Vancouver temps. It was 97 here yesterday. :cool2:

See you all soon!

Hi Everyone,

Well, we leave Saturday. So one more day of school and then the next day we fly out.

We're all basically finished packing, but have a few last minute things to put in.

Looks like the weather is going to be beautiful Sun-Tues in Vancouver. Now here's hoping for good weather the entire time!

Hello everyone!!!
We are leaving Saturday morning and we are flying to Seattle. We will be spending one night in Seattle then we are taking the Amtrak to Vancouver. We will be in Vancouver on Sunday. I can't believe that it is almost time to go!!! I am so excited!!! I have so much to do... don't even know where to begin. So.. I'm starting to freak out a little... LOL!!!

Boogie (Laura)
ps: I'm a middle school teacher. LOL!!!

Hi everyone. We're not flying out until Monday morning. And we are not at all packed. :sad2: However, the giant pile of clothes and things that I have gathered does not look like it will fit well in our suitcases. Wish it were warmer up there so we wouldn't need all the layers.

We coined a term in our house today - procrastipacking. That's what we're doing. Boys' clothes are done and my carry-on bag with the cruise docs, passports, meds, and cash our done, but other than that - still have a ways to go. We decided to take a third suitcase to check so we won't have to cram so tight and still have room to bring a few things home.

Done with work - a few things didn't get finished but they can wait til I'm back. I put a sign on my office door on some old DCL stationery I had that says "Gone Sailing" and put our itinerary on it. I also remembered to print out labels to put on our luggage tags with our info about where we'll be in case of luggage decides not to make the trip with us directly either going or returning. I had forgotten I wanted to do that until I brought out our suitcase from the closet and one of the tags still had last summer's vacation info. So got that done.

Cleaned out the frig and took food over to the neighbor who will be watching our house for us. Still have a bit of house work to do but hey, if it doesn't get done, it doesn't get done. Laundry is mostly done - DH has his last load in the washer - once it's all done, that's when I have run out of excuses for not packing.

Can't wait to see you all so very soon! Some I'll see Sunday and some more on Monday and the rest of y'all on Tuesday! Safe travels everyone!

Oh - before I forget - we nearly always meet up in the Promenade Lounge around 5-5:15ish for "chips and salsa" before dinner - it's when our family all gets together after being apart much of the day doing our own thing. Feel free to join us any night! We have main dining but still like to hang out there and enjoy whatever band is playing and people-watch.

Here is our status update:

2) Went to see U2 in Oakland, CA the other night - what a spectacular show!

Thanks. Whistler sounds great. We're torn between the two. It'll be a last minute decision.

Nice to hear you had a a good time at the concert. I'd love to see U2.

We aren't on the FE list, either. We're Russ and Wendy ( traveling with my sister Cindy,brother-in-law Rusty, 15 yr. old nephew Sean and my mom Marilyn).

I know I haven't been on the boards often but I would love to meet everyone.

Packing is done! Now sleep and we're on our way!

For those who have just recently joined us, or joined us and not been able to participate much on the board, please please please come say hello and get acquainted at the Meet and Greet on Tuesday at 3 p.m. It's one of my favorite cruise activities - the chance to get meet new friends - and you'll be amazed at how often you'll see someone you know throughout the week!

3 p.m., Promenade lounge.
