June 10, 2012 Dream 5-Night Double-Dip

Just got off the Magic and booked the June 10! It'll be me, DH, and DD who will be 12 on the cruise. Yay!!

Welcome Jennyh2829!

alltheparks--glad you had a great cruise!

For some reason I got unsubscribed to this thread...I just resubscribed. Has that ever happened to anyone else? Maybe it's just user error, LOL.

Galveston! (and NYC too ;) )

http://www.castawaves.com/disney-cruise/disney-cruise-2012-itineraries/

Galveston, Texas
Beginning Sept. 22, 2012, the Disney Magic will sail 12 seven-night cruises from the Port of Galveston to the Western Caribbean. Ports of call include Grand Cayman and Mexico’s Costa Maya and Cozumel. These 7 night cruises will feature 3 full days at sea and 3 days in wonderful ports.

Disney Magic 2012 Galveston – Seven-Night Western Caribbean sailing on 9/22, 9/29, 10/6, 10/13, 10/20, 10/27, 11/3, 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, 12/8, 2012

Though we aren't planning to cancel our Dream cruise, this definitely opens up some possibilities!

Hmmm. Is anybody switching?

The NYC itineraries are intriguing since it would cut about 12 hours off our round-trip drive time. However, I really had wrapped my mind around spending my 40th birthday on Castaway Cay!

I plan to switch as soon as bookings are available and these new itineraries are confirmed. I'm moving to the Thanksgiving cruise from Galveston. I am a bit disappointed that we not be going to CC, but I'm also excited about the going to the ports on the new itinerary. I've never been to any of these ports.

My head is spinning. I'm tempted to switch to Galveston because it's only a 5 hour drive, and we haven't been on any of the ships before.

But, really disappointed that it's not stopping at Castaway Cay (as that is one of the major things I'm looking forward to) and DH does not want to go to Mexico. And he's now excited about going to Star Wars Weekend before our June 2012 cruise on the Dream.

So, as of now, we won't be switching. I hope they keep sailing out of Galveston in future years, though!

Exactly my thoughts. I want to go to CC (twice!) and we are also planning to go to WDW along with the cruise. And for me, since I am a teacher the only date that I could go out of Galveston would be Thanksgiving week, and I have a feeling that will be super expensive.

So, no switching for me either. But I would like to do it in the future.

Hello, All! My family and I booked this cruise a month ago, but I am just now getting around to joining you guys.

We are second-time Disney cruisers, so we're really excited to be sailing on the Dream!

At the time of sailing, our DD will be 11(-1/2).

My DH's birthday is the following week, so we are using that as our excuse to return to Florida...we wanted to be there before it gets too hot!

Please add our "stats" to your list of cruisers.

Thanks!
Me (Natalia), DH (Michael), DD (Chloe):tink:

Welcome NatdelPozo! Another Texan!

Chee Chick--are you for sure leaving us for Galveston? Let me know if you want me to take you off the list.

Anyone else changing cruises?

I sure hope the Galveston cruises continue for a few more years!

We are sticking with the June 10th cruise, but for those of us from Texas, the Galveston cruises are an exciting development. Just thought I'd share this from my travel agent: the bookings open up to the general public tomorrow, but are already open to Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members. ;)

We "half considered" switching to the 5-night Canadian cruise out of NYC (same dates) because the port is a lot closer to us and we thought it might be cheaper if we could get in on the 'first tier' of the pricing. I think bookings for this cruise had already been open for 4+ months before we booked. I don't think we got the best pricing although it's even higher now.

However, based on the prices that Gold/Platinum people are posting it does not sound like it will be cheaper at all... and possibly substantially more expensive. I was torn on giving up Castaway Cay anyway. I've never been before, so I wouldn't know what I was missing... but I'm really excited about it. I think we're going to stay put.

Dh and I just booked this cruise today. We'll be in an 11C. It will be my 13th DCL cruise and his 12th. We also have two cruises booked for this fall, Magic on Nov. 26 and Dream on Dec. 4!

We won't be switching for Galveston since we live right here in the New York area!

Beth

Welcome, Beth!

I just priced out the 5-night Magic Canadian cruise leaving from NYC on the same date as this cruise. It's coming in at $500 more expensive than what we're paying for our Dream cruise and we didn't even get in on the "best prices" when they first opened the booking! We'll be staying on the Dream!

Welcome to the new cruisers! We're based in the midwest, so we are definately staying on this cruise, unless we get moved overseas again!

It is now official. I have switched to the Thanksgiving cruise on the Magic. It ended up being more expensive for the cruise itself of course, but it looks like it is almost even for overall cost considering I won't have to include airfare, resort stay, and meals before the cruise.

It has been great chatting with all of you over the last few months. I hope all of you have a fantastic cruise on the Dream!

We'll miss you, Chee Chick... but enjoy your Thanksgiving cruise!
