June 10, 2012 Dream 5-Night Double-Dip

What's everybody doing in Nassau? We never booked any excursions and had planned to just stay on the boat, but now I'm thinking we should at least get OFF the boat while we're there......anybody know of something we could do??:thumbsup2

Our plan right now is to take a taxi to Ardastra Gardens/Zoo and walk around there for a bit, see the flamingo show. Then maybe have lunch somewhere and go to the Pirate Museum for a bit. Maybe a horse & carriage ride.

However, if it rained at Castaway Cay the day before and we didn't get a good beach day, we will take a taxi to the Sheraton Nassau and pay their day rate ($25 adults, $12 kids) to get access to their pools and private beach (rate also includes flats, kayak rentals, etc.).

We are going to put the kids in the club and just check it out, DH and myself. I want to get some souvenier rum cakes, he wants to get a drink at Senor Frogs and I want to find some conch fritters. No real plans though, just walking around the area to see it for ourselves.

At first I wasn't sure what to do because of the mixed reviews about the island and just staying on the boat. I was able to get the Dolphin Encounter at Blue Lagoon and I think the family (including DD who is just shy of 3) will have a blast. We do that in the morning then enjoy the beach and if there isn't anything of interest after we will probably head back to the ship.

Only 16 more days!!!!:cool1:

Ok, my fellow runners! How is your training going for the Castaway Cay 5k?

I'm talking about:

MissDaisyofTexas--Nancy
ChristineIndy--Christine & David
baddog576--Piya
Tinker326--Nicole
ngneer98--Diana

Who else did I miss?

I ran 4 miles this morning and I am hurting! I had been running 3 miles but I haven't run 4 in a while. It was hot and windy (and hilly, at least I won't have that to contend with on the island!) I plan on running shorter runs during the week and then a 4-miler again next weekend. My pace is slow though--12-13 minute miles.

My husband will run too. You can add him next to me (Scott).

I haven't done ANY running. I've been so lazy and it's been pretty hot and rainy here in South Florida the past week (this weekend has been great though). I need to get going though, I have less than 100 days until the Disneyland Half Marathon.

I run 3.5 miles a few times a week. I have not run yet in conditions that we'll be running in (hot and humid) so I'm a little worried about that...

I am also a slow runner- spot on with you! 12-13 minutes. That's 12 minutes the first mile and by last mile... 13!! :) However, I'm sure that Magical Fairy Pixie Dust will improve my mile time to about 10 minutes... right? :tink:

Isaac, Gopher, Doc and I will provide you runners with all the support you need from the ship... Ooops wrong ship... Let's try that again..

Sleepy, Dopey, Doc and I will provide you runners with all the support you need from the ship... :lmao:

I'm ready! bring it on! I ran 3.5 miles on Sunday, but decided to hit the snooze this morning :lmao: I've run 5Ks in June in St. Louis, and sadly, the humidity here is just as bad as it is in the caribbean! Although i know it's going to be rough, I think we'll be okay.

My problem is pacing.....i'll do a 9 1/2 minute mile for the first one.....and then by the end it's more like 11 1/2-12! :rotfl2:

it's going to be FUN! no matter how slow you go, you're still going faster than the husbands back in the cabin! :goodvibes and it gives us a good reason to hang out at the ice cream machine the rest of the day!:banana::banana:

Nicole and Diana, I'm more in the 11-13 min pace. I haven't done ANY running since spring break when I did the Castaway Cay 5K. I do have to take 30sec-1min walk breaks when I run but average a 12 min pace. Hopefully it won't be too hot. FYI - There is one water station that we will pass 3 times.

We just got our VGT room assignment. If you are waiting for your assignment or want to check if you got upgraded now might be the time to check. :)

Hi Nancy-
It's coming. It's been painfully hot here in indy, but we are doing it.. :) I am also running about a 12 minute mile and it's not fun.. :) Perhaps we can run together and chat??? David is hurting when he runs.. Really out of shape.. Excited to do the run, though...
