Jun 3, 2011 Disney Dream

On the most recent Panama Canal Wonder Cruise, we had about 100 cabins particpate and we did not split it. It did take quite a while to deliver but it was really neat having so many days and items.

I do not think 20 is too many cabins. Oops forgot to not count myself. 19 Cabins. I think the hardest part is the distribution of cabins X number on deck something and all spread out!!

Is there currently a cut off date for the sign up of the FE?

Hi
As for a time, my first cruise two summers ago met up at around 2:30 PM, which gave everyone plenty of time to get settled and eat lunch but also left a good hour or so before we needed to get ready for the muster drill. Without the need for life jackets on the Dream, you might even be able to move your meet back to 3:00. DH and I were on board right around noon two summers ago and had tons of time to explore the ship, grab a drink by the pool, and get settled in our room before heading out to the cruise meet.

As you mentioned hopefully we will hear about the right locations from the earlier Dream cruises. But I can comment on the time - On the Panama Canal Cruise in January, we met at 3 and it was plenty of time. We also did not have to wear life jackets.

Hey bigedwin...what part of STL are you from? We are right across the river in Swansea.

Hi everyone, we just got back from WDW where I finished my first half marathon. :cool1::cool1: I could not believe how hot it was. I do not know what the actual temperatures were, but it was predicted to be 88 for Sunday. Yuck!! Now that its done, its time for me to concentrate on this trip!! YIPPEE!! I cannot wait to go on the Dream, but then I do not want it to be over either.

I have been trying to get a larger table for Palo for our entire group but everything seems to be booked. Its starting to frustrate me. Oh well. Hope everyone is doing well.

Congratulations, that quite an accomplishment! :cheer2: I'm sooooo not a runner, but I guess if I were going to try, WDW would be where I would want to do it!

Hi

DH and I will be sailing on June 3, 2011 with our 18 month old.

This will be my 7 cruise, DH's 2nd and LOs 1st.

We are very excited and cannot wait to board!

I can't book until March 20th. The only big thing we are worried about is Atlantis but there are other ways to get there besides Disney so I guess I'll just keep my fingers crossed until the 20th.
Where in AZ are you? My mom is in Payson and we are just over the border in CO.

Hello, I am in Phoenix, AZ! Downtown really.

I did Atlantis on my last Disney cruise, and would HIGHLY recommend doing it on your own instead of through Disney. We have been calling this week to find out about Dolphins swallow water, etc. It is $110 booking directly by phone, but $114 on line booking? Strange hun? That includes access to the beach, locker, towels, nonalcoholic beverages etc. You book that now. We would have loved to do the deep dive with dolphins, which is 2 hours for $190, but the minimum age is 10 and our girls are too young. You can also buy a "beach pass" only for $60 pp adult, $40 4-12, under 4 free. The cab ride over is cheap and much quicker than the buses! If you want to do it all - water park, pools, aquarium, etc, you can go for a day pass (first come first serve at Atlantis) for $110 pp adult, $80 4-8 years old and free for under 4. Or you can book a room at the Comfort Inn, which gives you band with full access to everything. Right now the rates are $285 AAA.

I have a few questions about the fish extenders before I decide to join in. I was just on another thread where people showed pictures of all the wonderful gifts they had created or purchased for this activity, and I was inspired to join! For awhile I have thought that with the busy month prior to the cruise, preparing my fish extender and the gifts would throw me over the edge!! :scared1:

First question: Has anyone seen a simple fish extender? Something handmade, like, maybe paper bags stapled together(just kidding)? Please describe it to me.

Also, I read about someone having to visit 80 staterooms to deliver gifts? How many staterooms would each family get?

Third question: Say something to convince me in doing this. I think it would be fun but am a little worried about preparing for my daughter's first communion, promoting my sixth graders, doing report cards, and so much more!!!

Thanks!

I can answer the first question. I have seen people with something as simple as one of those reusable grocery bags. I didn't see a store name but that is definately what it was.

Hello
About creative FE'S

We have seen a Nicely decorated Shoe Hanger.
They just purchased a shoe hanger and cut it so only had 4 sets of pockets.
They placed all kinds of disney stickers and figures it was cute.

Another creative on was just 2 Xmas Stockings with Disney pictures and the names of the kids in the room.

Another Creative one
A trick or Treat Bag Just hanging in the Fish.

Good Luck.

PS
About having Participating in an FE.
It was so much fun getting the kids the list and going floor by floor deliverign goodies.
We did 2-3 floors per day. ( We had about 60 Cabins participate)
It was fun for the kids to see the nicely decorated Fe's and doors.
Also it was such a trill to find something in our own when we will come back to the room at different times.

Good Luck

Ed

Didn't think about being able to get the AAA rate. That makes a big difference from the $480.00 it would cost thru Disney. Will talk to the DH tonight about it, don't know why though he usually leaves all the planning stuff up to me anyway. Is it easy enough to get the taxis back and forth?
Would hate to miss the boat !

May I suggest a fish extender participation cutoff date? How about April 15th? I believe the date is after the Paid In Full Date. It will give us some time to plan, purchase, or make our gifts.

I can tell you that we never did it thinking it was a bit silly and probably time consuming, but for some reason decided to try it on our 6th cruise and had a wonderful time -- we met people we wouldn't have met otherwise, had fun doing the delivery as a family -- and our son, who is a teenager, always ran ahead when getting close to our cabin and smiled ear to ear as he pulled the items out of the pockets. I say try it once and you'll probably be hooked.

Here are the guidelines...including a cut off date!

This is all the way back on page 6 for the Fish Extender!! I thought that I would bump it forward for those that are looking for it.

Also, here are the guidelines:

1. Each cabin is to provide AT LEAST one gift to each cabin participating in the fish extender. You can provide a gift to each person within that cabin, just the kids, or one gift for the whole cabin...that is up to you. Of course, you are welcome to give more than one gift...but the minimum is one.
2. All gifts are to be delivered between the cruise leaving port on Friday, June 3rd until 4 PM on Monday, June 6th. This gives people time to still be able to pack their bags on June 6th before we leave the ship the morning of June 7th.
3. Please include a tag with your DISboard’s user name on the gift. This way everyone knows who the gift is from.
4. Sign-ups for the FE will close 6 weeks before sail date. This gives everyone a chance to finish things up before the cruise. This date will be April 22, 2011.

Please let me know if this sounds okay with everyone. I have listed some cabins as "Friends of" on the fish extender list. Please look this over and make sure that it is okay. If they are listed as a separate cabin, then they should plan on participating in the fish extender with a separate gift. If they are included in what you are doing, then they should not be getting separate gifts from everyone? I am just trying to make this fair.

Oops Sorry. I read that post a bunch of times and missed the cutoff date every time. :confused3 Hopefully I did not confuse anyone.
