JUN 06 2007 Magic - 10 day Mediterranean ( READ INFO POST # 1 )

We would love to join you but won't even be in Barcelona by then
Our flight arrives at 2pm so I reckon we will be onboard by 3pm at the earliest so don't think our plan of dropping the luggage and going off to explore will work This is the point at which I realise we should have taken a leaf from Sharolyns book and actually planned some part of this vacation Underprepared is the word to describe us !! We have got some dollars now but no euros yet ! And no we not booked any trips - we shall just get up and go each day

Is there ANYONE as poorly organised !!!

We get in to the train station at around 8:30am...so we may be able to get to the terminal around 9am. Will we be able to leave luggage with anyone this early? (that would be great, as I don't want to lug around luggage ) I'm a little afraid to join any excursions lasting more than an hour or two with my little guys though. We'll see how well behaved they are

Can not wait!!! I just finished up with the last tour details, faxing the vatican my list of names, and now am DONE. I am so excited!!!! Yikes, is this going to be like a wedding, so much planning and it is over in a milisecond!! Well, that just means i will have to enjoy each and every millisecond!!!

Oh....for those interested, we are meeting at the port at 9 am on Weds morning to drop off our bags, and then heading over to the chocolate museum. We plan on being back to board at around 1ish. If you are interested, just show up at 9am ish.

what are you doing tuesday night??? we get in around 3ish and were going to go straight to the hotel, airport marriott, and then take the bus or train into the city and hang out at Ramblas (however you spell it) and go see that famous fountain and then head back to the hotel. Maybe we can meet up sometime tuesday night if ya want!! just a thought. Tell hayley that david will have his cell and it does have international calling, so use that if we need to get in touch. paul has also finished his online registration, i have his signed documents with me since he will not be boarding until naples. Oh yeah, and now that evilone is gone, Kathryn is coming. Let her know that one!!!

OK, seriously, with as much $$$ as we are spending on this trip, i would have thought we had not only earned our ears, but deserved our ears!!!

OK, cruzin crazy....i have a group of what, 24, and you have 4!! hahahaha!! Can you imagine trying to go on the fly with that many....omg, i think i would have to hang myself. The only good thing about all this is that my cost went way down having this many, and we do know what we are doing at every port now!!! My biggest freak out moment was a couple days ago, i was trying to find the site were i read about the tours with the american priests and went to rick steves site. I was reading their italy trip reports board and started reading about these silly train strikes. OK, originally we were doing all the ports on our own, using the trains at every port!!! Well...according to the rick steves books i bought, i took it that these strikes happen occasionally, but not regularly. Well...according to the reports, they happen all the time!! One couple stuck at the airport for like 12 hours or something. I was like, thank God I am not doing this now on my own, with 24, now 34 of us at some of the ports, can you imagine me trying to get taxi's or whatever for that many people. And the cost.....never mind. I am glad we booked these private tours now....ugh, i shutter to think of what could have been. Anyway....no more nightmares. But yes, this is why I have done so much planning.....

Well...ok, actually though, there is something about me and disney. I love that unofficial guide to dw...so maybe i would have planned even if it was just 4 of us....

Ok everyone...this will be my LAST post as we leave for Portugal in the morning!!! I can hardly believe it!!!

Thanks to you all for the great tips on how to make this vacation one of our best ever! (My daughter is so excited for the gift exchange.) We can't wait to meet you in person on Thursday.

Phew just had a minor panic Sharolyn when I read your sons online docs were all sorted ..... WHAT ..... we havent done that for DD Charlotte .... oh yeah she's still a minor thats why !!! I can't even remember my childrens ages - by next week I won't know my own name

I finish work 3pm UK time 4pm Barcelona time the day before we set sail !

On a positive note 2 suitcases are packed !!

We'll be in Barcelona on Tuesday at 10am. We're staying at San Agusti Hotel off Las Ramblas (near the hospital) PLAZA SANT AGUSTI 3 08001 BARCELONA
Barcelona, 08001 Phone number: 34-93-3181658. On Tuesday we are going to Picaso Museum and Sagrada Familia. Then Las Ramblas in the late afternoon. We plan to take the bus to Catalunya from the airport and walk ~5 min to our hotel.)

Sorry I just thought everyone was from America. I'll try to bring a may also. Our state we live in is Iowa and the hawkeyes are from the University of Iowa, the college my husband graduated from. Corn is what the farmers grow.
