JUN 06 2007 Magic - 10 day Mediterranean ( READ INFO POST # 1 )

Hey all, we have 6 cabins in all, and that does include Hayley and Joe. I am including them if they like it or not!!! What about that Joe??? hahaha, I pm you with what I am doing, think they will all like it!!!

Getting excited!!!

How and when were you able to reserve Palo??? I have tried everyday for more than a month..... LUCKY you! I was thinking of giving up.

I logged on yesterday around 4:30 pm PST. I've been trying every day for the past few weeks. Guess we just got lucky!

PS: All they had available was 3-4 people for the dates we got. Not much of an option but I love the dates we were able to secure.

Dinner: Palermo (day 3) 7-9pm. Great cause Palermo ends at 5:30pm.
Brunch: day 10 @ sea 11am-1pm.

Can anyone share their ideas for activities while we are in Olbia. I think it will be somewhat of a "rest" day between Naples and Rome. Not a lot of info in the tour books. What beaches are nearby and are they any good?

Thanks

John :cool1:

I think our group is thinking of doing the same. I hear there are fantastic beaches there. Sardina is supposedly the Italian Hawaii. And the north is "swankier" and reminiscent of the French Riveria. I'm looking forward to doing some snorkling along the beach if the water is clear enough...

9 days, 214 hours, 72 hours of sleep, 38 more hours of work, 10 more hours at the gym, and 19.5 miles left of running til June 2nd flight to Rome!!!!

And how many hours of packing??? :headache:

BTW...I'm impressed with your all your exercising :thumbsup2

we've talked(husband&I) thought it would be fun just hanging out on a good beach also!! hope the weather will be warm for that!!! don't have to many ideas for things to see. just have fun. We would like to be in the gift exchange. But need to know for how many? Are we doing 1 per room for each day, just something small? Also thanks for eveyones help with my questions about packing bag size, still like to over pack!!! Does anyone have a good idea for motion sickness--- pills, patch or what. Also have meds. to take with them. So much to do before we go think I'm going crazy. Will need this time away.

4 got this, what about exercising? Beside doing laps around the boat, what else is there to do? Sorry I'm a 1st timer on a BIG BOAT. We can't do this fun stuff on a 28ft. searay, just unjoy the sun and a beer. later work to do, not packing yet.

My husband used to get the RX patches but the last 2 cruises he used the accupressure wristbands that he bought in the gift shop on board the ship for about $10. They worked great!!! Other people are singing praises about Ginger pills that you can get at the health food stores.

I sure hope its just 1 gift per room and not 1 per day. I sure don't have that much room in my one tiny suitcase:sad2:

Here's the plan...those participating will be assigned a specific day to distribute your gifts. That way we have a little surprise to find each day, as opposed to getting gifts all at once. Right now it looks like those participating should bring 15 gifts total.

Those participating so far are:
1. grizbuzz
2. pjtulsa
3. aquaholics
4. sbassgva
5. funnybunny921
6-11. sharolyn (who has 6 cabins, including J&HSal)
12. crusincrazy
13. TravelingGypsies
and I think MHeywood14 (14) and marlaymike (15) , but I'm waiting for confirmation and cabin numbers from them.

I think there is a small gym. I plan to exercise on the embarkation day and both sea days. That along with the excursion walking should hold my fitness level through the cruise.

Ok...I don't have a tip...I'm looking for one...

Regarding taxis and car seats. I'm assuming that I will be able to take my 2 and 4 year olds in taxis in London, Paris and Barcelona (as well as maybe in some of the ports)...are there any restrictions on taking kids in taxis if they don't have car seats?

And is anyone planning to take a taxi to the Barcelona airport from the port on June 16? I don't have anything arranged and am wondering if taxis will be there, in order to make an 11:30am flight. Logistics...:headache:

Also, crusincrazy...do you have any tips on fun things to do with small kids for our 1 and 1/2 day stay in London?

Grizzbuz,
We took our son @ 18 months w/o a car seat in a taxi in London 3 yrs ago. (Most of the time he was asleep in the stroller which we left him in.) No one said a word. But we've also taken both our kids in Taxis (at 2 and 4) last summer in the Boston, US w/o a car seat. Who lugs around a car seat when touring???? If you must call us bad parents go ahead, but I wasn't going to lug around 2 Britix car seats and a stroller for hours while touring Boston.

Hope this helps...
Jen

Hi Jen
For anyone travelling to the UK we had a law change last june - taxis are still exempt from the child seat law unless the driver carries a seat in which case it must be used BUT if you hire a car it is a legal requirement you have the right seat for the right height and weight of the child ... very complex .. I presume hire companies will rent you one but don't get caught out anyone ... there is a fine .

Rachel

ps. Its 6am and what am I doing - sorting out Disers gifts :rotfl:

I think there may be some misunderstanding on this gift issue. Given this information we are not going to participate. Sorry, but thanks.

Keeping with tradition...

8 days, 190 hours, 64 hours of sleep, 30 more hours of work, 8 more hours at the gym, and 15.6 miles left of running til June 2nd flight to Rome!!!!

FYI: I am sooooooooooooooo happy as I hit my goal of running 4.0 miles in 30 minutes on the treadmill (8.0 mph / 7.5 min/mile average) for the first time in 10 years. The last time I ran that fast was when I just left the naval academy and was ~25 lbs lighter. It's taken me 5 months to go from running about 3.25 mi per 30 min to get that extra .75 mi but I am SOOOOOOO psyched! Never thought I could achieve that again! :woohoo: :cool1:

Looking forward to gaining some weight over the cruise!!! Yummy Palo for my tummy!!!! popcorn::

Nothing like a little adrenaline/excitement over the cruise to get you running faster! I totally suck at running, so I know how much you've achieved. Congratulations! :yay:

Sharolyn:
I have been referred to you for booking on the Pisa/Florence tour. We are very interested. There are 4 of us, Kevin, Brenda, Miranda and Travis. We would also be interested in Rome, and perhaps Naples You can direct e-mail me at kevnbren76131@yahoo.com

I had the list of movies that were going to be on our sailing but cant find it, I know Cars, Shrek & the new Pirates pirate: were 3 of them. Without calling DCL. which I havent had good experiences with, all I could find out is that Generally any Disney/Miramax film currently out will be showing on the ship as well as some older things. popcorn::

Is anyone interested in doing Palo's as a large group??? The DCL website said they have a room for 12-14 that can be reserved on the ship. I havent been able to get a reservation for 2 so I thought this might be fun for our group.
Let me know if anyone is interested in Palo's maybe on one of our sea days?

Paula
