JUN 06 2007 Magic - 10 day Mediterranean ( READ INFO POST # 1 )

i have updated the first page again... don't know why it read 10ish because i put in 40ish and for a while that is what it had said....

Itoo am getting really excited we leave a month from thursday. I don't feel ready yet... and may is a busy month.

Wohooo!!! Just a month and six days for the Cruise!! And just 33 days for us to go to Disneyland Paris!!

I'm very very excited. . .

Hi
Does anyone know if we are allowed to videotape the shows - just asking as we were allowed several years ago on DCL but 2 years ago were stopped whilst filming Disney Dreams . We weren't even using a video light .:sad2:

Anyone cruised recently ????

Is anyone planning to take a train into Rome from Civitavecchia and explore on their own? I'm trying to figure out if it's better to get one of those BIRG passes (is that what they're called?) or to take a private train (which seems to be a lot higher priced and doesn't include metros/buses in Rome). And if I go for the private train should I get the tickets beforehand online? With a 2-year old and a 4-year old, I don't want transportation to be too difficult. :sad2:

Interested to hear plans of anyone who's tackling Rome on their own... :coffee:

We leave in one month from today for barcelona. :cloud9: after all the planning we're finally getting realy close!!!:woohoo:

Well, we are still thinking about what we are doing. i have contacted a private tour company mainly to get us to Florence and Pisa. Well in the talks with them, I went ahead and asked about Rome and Naples, and Barcelona and Monte Carlo. I am actually leaning towards the private tour company for all the ports. It ends up being about 50 - 80 euros per person depending on the port, but they pick us up at port and drop us back there, there is no hassle with trying to catch busses, trains, etc. Anyway, if anyone is interested, let me know, the more the cheaper it is for all. They have a bus that can hold 50 people!!! I was adding up the costs and yes, this is more than doing it on your own in Rome, but for the other ports it is a wash. I am really excited because in Naples we are doing the Amalfie coast, going to pompeii, and the kids (all hundred of them, hahahaha, are climbing Mt.Vestivius as part of our deal.) That tour for 23 of us is going to cost 65 euros a piece. On Rome we are wanting to do the Vatican and the older sites, and for a 10 - 12 hour tour with a guide taking us all around Rome, it is looking like it will be about 60 euros a piece. In Florence, we are wanting to do the Uffizi and the Academy - then on to Pisa to see the leaning tour of Pisa. That one is also about 70 - 80 euros including museum entrance fees and leaning tower fee. In Monte Carlo, we are looking at about 30 - 40 euros to go to the casino at night, leaving the boat around 7ish and returning around 11:15ish. anyway, I was excited thinking about catching the trains, but when i realized that it does not work in florence - the train gets you in to late to really enjoy Florence, I went to looking at the tour company. You can check them out at travels with friends dot com

30 days til we leave for Rome!!!!! SOOOOOO excited!

Sharolyn, I gave Hayley my thoughts on the excursions we'll join you on. Since we'll be in Rome for a few days before we fly to Barcelona I do not anticipate joining you for the Rome trip. I am extremely dissappointed cause the Vatican is closed on Sunday and Monday to private companies (when we'll be in Rome both before cruise and on cruise). So it seems we may just have to visit without the tour unless we can get a disney sponsored tour. Other than that we may just end up visiting Civitavecchia for a few hours then go back to the empty ship to relax.

What is the deal with the Barcelona tour? We arrive on the morning of the 5th and we plan to check into the hotel, get some lunch, the go the the Familia Sangria (sp), the chocolate factory, and then Las Ramblas for night-time. Not sure what a "tour" would add????

Not really interested in the Casino tour and gambling. Any reason we should be? I'd rather walk around Monte Carlo, Cannes, and Nice.

So looking forward to the Firenze and Pisa (come on, you have to start speaking the language some time!) visits!!!!!! Wish we could see some of Cinque Terre as there are some lovely coastal sites and a large naval base. But I'd rather see the tower and David.

Once again thanks sooooooooooooo much for thinking of us joining you guys!

Joe

Sharolyn,

The online registration forms are ********. I filled out Hayley and my flight info and it added the following people even though I unchecked them. Please make sure these people are corrected:

SHAROLYN, MEGAN, DAVID, TREY, EVELYN, BRENTON, KARL, KATHLEEN

Also, for some stupid reason Disney's incompetence has not allowed us to enter international airports. I entered all the correct info except I used Rochester for Rome (FCO) and Baltimore for Barcelona (BCN). I hope someone there has enough common sense to either fix this program or put two-and-two together since we provided the right flight numbers.

edit: also, we need to have you guys fill out Paul's information (including having him on someone's CC) or provide it to Hayley so we can print out our Disney Contract.

marlaymike i am excited for you!!! that will be a lot of fun.

I love when my countdown ticker gets into days instead of months!!!!!

We are spending a few nights in Disneyland Paris before the cruise too. Using the Disneyland hotel as our base, seeing the parks and doing a day tour of Paris to see the sights.

2littlestitches; we will be at the Santa Fe 06/03 - 06/06 just a few days to the parks and a day tour of Paris like you!!!

Hi Sharolyn,

We would love to be included on some of your trips, sounds like my son Nick 16 would fit right in with your gang..... There would also be my daughter 13, hubby and myself. Let me know if there is anything I can do help with the planning.

Sounds like our plans are almost identical! LOL. Only we are "planning" on trying to do the Disneyland Park the day we arrive. Crazy, I know. I have no idea how tired we will be after the long flights and all. Then the tour on Mon., and back to the parks on Tues. We have a group of 9 people of all ages, down to my 2 boys who are 5 and 6.

Cool!! Our flight is at 5PM from San Juan, PR to Madrid to Barcelona and then to Paris. . . Yes it was the cheapr way to get to Paris... And we are getting to ORY not CDG, what about you?

I just discovered this disboard thread on the 6/6/07 cruise. I feel like I am trying to join a family reunion as most of you seem like old friends! Looks like Sharolyn and Funny Bunny have done a lot of work.

My family of four (DH 45, DW 41, DS 14, DD 12) arrive in Barcelona early 6/6 (from Philly). I am overwhelmed with choices for shore excursions. DCL is mostly overpriced although we did book Rome. We are planning Pompeii by train and Capri by Hydrofoil.

I am still workig on otehr excursions but we would be interested in knowing more about plans for other families. Perhaps we can put a few similarly aged parents and kids together.

BTW - how do you setup one of the countdown timers?

John
