520/1000 I cannot believe I'm over half way to my goal! June 10: 50 minute walking; was hoping to get in more but we had a thunderstorm last night. bangzoom - I hope your back feels better soon. I've dealt with back problems my whole life and had an injury in 2007 that still gives me problems. Stick to what your PT says and I'm hoping you have a quick recovery!

Thank you! How bad are the problems that linger from your back injury in 2007? Sometimes I feel like I'm never gonna get rid of this.

Finally, the reason why I sign up for this challenge starts to pay off! I was going to post a lower number earlier today and then realised that I was not far from 300 which is 25%. So I decided to go for a walk after dinner. It was lovely outside and I enjoyed the sunset and now I have over 25%! :cool1:

I'll hop on. I just got back on the exercise bandwagon on Monday, so I will add the 3 days here, and go from there.

I went to the physical therapist today. He didn't even have me do exercises. This time it's not a muscle alignment issue in the lower back. This time, the muscle is inflamed from overloading it. Apparently after my last episode of back pain got better, I did too much too soon. He said that I have to baby it for a couple of days. I go back to him Saturday morning. He worked on it with some massage therapy and then hooked me up to a machine which stimulates the muscle...all to promote blood flow to the area and heal it. He also did some assisted stretches for me. Before all of that, he applied heat for 15 minutes. At the end, he applied a cold pack for 15 minutes. I felt better when he was finished.

This is very frustrating. My PT said that I will have to work my way back to regular exercise very gradually this time, especially given the fact that I will be sitting in the car for hours at a time over the course of two days, driving to WDW in 5 weeks. I am trying to focus on my trip and feeling well, but I also like to stay in great shape...I have worked so hard to do that for many years now. I am determined though, to keep my weight where it is and not gain. I was hoping to lose 5 pounds before the trip because on my annual vacation, that is the only time I am not following Weight Watchers religiously. It is like my little escape from reality. And although it comes off very quickly after coming home from vacation, I always gain a few while away on vacation. So I was hoping to have a little cushion of a few pounds below where I am right now...oh well. Not sure that could happen without exercise.

My PT also said that I have to rethink what I am doing for exercise. He thinks it is too intense for me. I have a feeling that in a few weeks, he is going to tell me to focus more on cardio and keeping the core strong, and less on weight lifting. That is also very frustrating because I'm so used to cross training and alternating between cardio and weights.

At least I go to WDW in a few weeks! A lot of fun to look forward to, and I definitely want to be pain free so I can enjoy it.

I can help you! Ok, so you ate donuts today. That is now in the past. Move forward...your next healthy meal or snack is just around the corner and eating donuts today doesn't have to make you overeat the whole day or for the rest of the week. You also did an hour of Zumba which will counteract lots of calories! Much better than just lying around and eating all day! I also struggle with eating. I enjoy eating. I do not eat to live, rather I live to eat. But I also follow Weight Watchers, and no food is forbidden. I have learned how to behave around food and how to have a little of this, a little of that and be satisfied. I also try not to eat until I'm completely stuffed. That also helps because I feel a lot better doing things that way. I do indulge on occasions, and there are so many of those this month but I know that I am in control of my choices. Exercise has never been my problem. I love to exercise. The food is the biggest challenge. I tend to be at the high end of my healthy weight range for my height. I wish I could maintain a little lower, but not sure if that will happen. Another thing to remember, which is so important...the exercise you are doing has its positive effects on your outside appearance, yes, but it has an even more positive effect on what you cannot see...your overall health! And one more thing...you are ultimately in control, even if people try to say things like "oh, you can afford it just have one or two". No one has walked in anyone else's shoes and no one has the right to force you to eat a certain way or to question how or what you are eating, whether it's lettuce and water in front of people or donuts. It is none of anyone's business. I find that sometimes when people know I'm a lifetime member of Weight Watchers, they question me if they see me eat a piece of cake at a party or something. I don't like having to explain that I can work anything into a day and not technically fall of the wagon. Further, if someone offers you a food it is perfectly respectful to say no thank you.

Thank you! I needed that! I just feel so guilty after eating badly. I'm an emotional eater for sure and it's frustrating. I love to eat and I also love to work out so normally I can maintain my weight perfectly.... Well I'm still trying to lose the 80 (gasp!) pounds I gained when pregnant... Two years ago lol. I've lost 60 so I'm getting there. Thanks for the pep talk!!! I'll get back on track for sure!!

That's wonderful, a 60-pound weight loss! Try and focus on the positive and what you've accomplished!

Ran 3 miles (28 minutes) and walked 57 minutes.

Half way through with week 2 of half marathon training. Only 13 more miles of running this week! Tomorrow is my rest day though.

Elliptical, walking and a bit of leg workout at gym - 60 minutes

What a difference going to the gym versus exercising outside in this heat and crazy humidity! And the termites are still swarming. What's up with that?:confused3

This is so funny because I live up North (in a pretty snowy region), and I'm so excited to move *outside* to run. :)

Fell off the wagon a little in the past couple days. My 9 month old had surgery on Tuesday. Ended up with an ear infection yesterday. So the past couple days have been nothing but cuddling and comforting him.

We bought a swimming pool and that is now up and usable. I swam for two hours yesterday. It felt amazing and calming and relaxing. I have tendinitis in my knee that has been causing trouble so walking wasn't working too well for me but I think swimming will be much better and easier on my knee.

My goal is 1 hour a day in the pool.

Yesterday brings my total up to....

270/900
