After years of traveling off-season, my wife and I are plotting our first Disney World summer trip, for next July. I asked about crowding and weather and stuff, and this is what I was told:
Magic Kingdom crowds are intense...and on July 4th, almost inpenetrable. You need to stake out a spot early for the fireworks. Hours in advance, in fact. One person told me about giving up and going to the Poly for dinner and hoping to see the fireworks from the beach there -- but it was PACKED with people, and they ended up watching from the boat dock.
I'm told that if you plan properly, though, it can be a great time to see The World. Arrive at the parks early, and leave by lunch time, and return in the evening. You'll avoid the worst of the heat and the crowds. (And the heat - I gather - is a force to be reckoned with. It can be 85 at dawn, and 95 or worse by noon.)
Anyway, that's what I've heard ...I'll find out for certain when you do, next July!!
