After I got home from the trip I emailed Disneyland to see if they could maybe extend the expiration for that hopper day I couldn't use. I wasn't expecting much since the policy says you have to use the hopper within 13 days, but thought I might as well give it a try. A CM wrote back and offered me a new Hopper that doesn't expire for a year! I'm so happy, because aside from missing out on the trip, losing that ticket was a bummer. And, of course now we HAVE to go back this year lol. :) :) :)

At first I thought it would be hard to go back since the whole thing was so traumatic, but now I can't wait to return for a splurge make-up trip! I'm thinking of November or May.

Thanks again for all the kind, supportive messages from everyone! I really appreciated it.
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

We got to Anaheim on July 5th, had a wonderful day in the parks on the 6th, and on the 7th I went to the ER for heart palpitations and just got out on Sunday.
The main thing is after lots of tests and observation, I'm totally healthy, for which I'm very grateful. Like, SO grateful! I have a history of heart palpitations, but since we were far from home I wanted to get it checked out for peace of mind. I actually didn't expect to be admitted, but I was in the end. The hospital itself was pretty run down and I sure which I'd researched before I chose that one. They didn't allow child visitors, so I couldn't see my kids the whole time, which made it so much worse for all of us. DH was able to stop by and drop of some things for me on Friday night.

As I said, I know my health is the most important issue, but to have this happen after all the planning and canceled trips last year was just devastating. I was in the parks for 1 day. My kids were so upset they didn't want to go in at all on Friday, but luckily DH took them for a few hours on Sat and Sun, which was a great way to distract them from worrying about me. They had fun sending me pictures and texting me all day.

Mini trip report:

We stayed at the BW Anaheim Plus Inn, and we had a couple of issues like faulty AC and toilet, but they were very nice and gave us the adjoining room we wanted. They fixed the issues right away. The breakfast was great and super helpful. The beds were really comfortable. We extended our stay because we didn't know when I'd get out of the hospital, and the BW kindly didn't charge us for the last night.

We'll likely never stay on Harbor again. The loud cars woke everyone up multiple times a night, so nobody slept well. The terrible guys shouting at everyone through megaphones were mean and horrible and made that walk so stressful. We tried to ignore it, but it was impossible and we all dreaded the walk from the hotel to the parks and back again because of them. Also, the homeless people didn't make it pleasant, either. From now on we'll stay in the bubble.

The Good:

World Of Color Dessert party- A real highlight.

Walk-on Pirates first thing Thursday morning.

Great sightings of Loki, Captain America, Mickey Minnie and Pluto, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Merida and lots of ducklings.

Tried Runaway Railway and loved the new Toontown.

DAS worked out great for my daughter and was very easy.

I finally tried eating on Pacific Wharf and had a great dinner at Lucky Fortune Cookery.

Pym's.

I sadly didn't make it onto Peter Pan, but Snow White was fun.

The crowds were fine and the weather was perfect.

Dole Whips.

Oga's- We ended up basically having the table to ourselves for the whole time, which was a real treat.

We met R2D2!

OMG!! First off, I'm SO glad you're ok! But I'm also so, so sorry that your trip was not the dream vacation you had planned. I know how disappointed you must be after all the time and money spent on having this wonderful trip.

I'm also sorry to hear that Harbor was so unpleasant. I've had many good stays there, but admittedly not in the past several years.

I do hope you get a chance at a do-over, but I know you still had to spend a lot of money on this trip but hopefully you don't have to wait too long.

I'm really so sad for you!! Big hugs, Pluto468.

Oh no! When I read your subject line, I thought it was going to be something that went wrong with the parks themselves, but this is so much worse!

I'm glad you're doing better and out of the hospital, but there are few things worse than having a special vacation planned and then real life comes in and ruins it.

Hope you get your chance at another trip in the future!

Wow, that's a real bummer. But glad to hear you're ok and healthy.

Oh man! I am so sorry! I am glad you are okay. It is always such a bummer when something like that happens while on vacation but you were right not to chance your health.

Oh no!!!!! I am SO glad you’re ok! How scary of an experience. I know you must be super bummed about the trip that you had planned for so long. I’m sure your next trip will be all kinds of crazy fun to make up for it. Most important thing is that you are ok! Big hugs to you!

It sounds like you had a pretty good time while you were there, except the stuff going on at harbor. That is a major bummer. We also had a really hard time sleeping at BW PPI due to the traffic noise. And I’m not easily awakened.

I hope your next trip is everything you have dreamed about and more! ☺️

I am so sorry you had this happen. I am glad you salvaged the trip!! Feel better and stay well.

:grouphug:Pluto468, I thank God you are healthy! Sorry of course for all you went through especially while at ::MickeyMoPrayers indeed that you and your family are able to return to DL and enjoy complete safe fun :)

Oh no, Pluto468!!!! I remember all of your posts planning this trip as a make up, that had to have been so devastating. So glad you are ok!

That is good to know about the noise at that hotel, we've had decent luck with pretty quiet rooms at Desert Inn/Camelot/Desert Palms when we stay on Harbor (but - we also keep the fan running at night because we are light sleepers to drown things out so that might be it, too). It seems all the hotels are just built differently. We didn't have good luck at the Hyatt House on Harbor/Katella, but it wasn't from outside noise but the noise from neighboring rooms. You just never know until you stay what it's going to be.

I hope you are able to make it back to the parks soon.

Oh my goodness, I am soo sorry for all you went through but glad you are feeling better!

We were at the BW Park Vue and ughh the megaphone guys! We could hear them every now and then from our room but it wasn't enough to disturb us. We did leave the AC fan on all night so maybe that helped? I had read the reviews of where we stayed and noise was the biggest one. We did hear some cars and again the Jesus guys from time to time but for us it wasn't bothersome enough to want to change locations. We absolutely loved just being able to walk across the street and be there!

Sorry to hear about the blown trip-- worst Murphy's Law ever!

What are the megaphone guys? Are they shouting at all hours of the day and night or just sporadically?

Oh no!!!! I'm so sorry that you had to go through that! What a bummer after all that planning. Now, you definitely need to plan a make up make up SPLURGE trip on-site! I agree about Harbor. It's not what I would want to deal with on a vacation either.

I also have been dealing with palpitations since I got covid last summer. I had an extensive workup and am totally fine, but now on daily beta blocker to manage it. It is so unnerving when it happens, especially when you are just trying to have fun. I hope you are able to try again soon and have a better time.

There were a couple of guys while we were there with the megaphones and signs preaching about Jesus. I think they targeted park opening and closing times although we stayed in the parks all day so not sure if it was an all day affair. They didn't do it all night, from what we could hear but they definitely stayed until the closing rush cleared and started fairly early in the morning because we could hear them from our room when we were getting ready for bed and getting ready in the morning and we are RD to closing people.

Thanks, DizMe! I've stayed on Harbor lots of times and never had a problem. This was the first time I said, "Never again."

Thanks, Crystal. I really couldn't believe how loud those cars were! I'm scared to plan another trip lol. A few people have told me they think I'm just not meant to go to Disneyland after all the cancellations, and now this. But..of course I've already looked into the Grand for November....

Thanks! I almost stayed at Camelot, but went with BW for the breakfast. Hopefully we'll make it back sometime.

Thanks! I really couldn't believe how bad those guys were. My poor daughter would cover her ears as we walked by, but they were just SO loud.

Thanks, DLgal. I like your idea of a splurge trip! I told my husband that after the July trip I wouldn't even bring up going to Disneyland for at least 3 years, but now I can't help thinking we should go much sooner.

If I'd been at home I probably wouldn't even have bothered with the ER, but since we were out of town I thought I'd just have it checked. I thought they'd tell me I was dehydrated or something, but they wanted to watch me for 2.5 days. At least now I know my heart is perfectly fine- they did every test they could think of lol.

It actually does make me nervous to travel again, but I think I just need to better understand my symptoms and what to do when it happens.
