Ha, I'm sorry I just realized I posted this under the wrong thread. My brain is all over the place today.I have 2 unused single day tickets burning a hole in my pocket.... of course I can't get the rest of my multi day pass back, though.
Out of curiosity, was your room right near the street, or did the street noise travel further back into the hotel? Thanks, DizMe! I've stayed on Harbor lots of times and never had a problem. This was the first time I said, "Never again."
No, I assure you, there are no events that mean you aren't meant to go to Disneyland.A few people have told me they think I'm just not meant to go to Disneyland after all the cancellations, and now this.
It was about half way down the first building. Last year we were in the second building and didn't hear a thing, so maybe it just depends on room placement. We had the AC and bathroom fans on the whole time, even at night. We were able to watch the fireworks from just outside our room, which was niceOut of curiosity, was your room right near the street, or did the street noise travel further back into the hotel?
That was super nice of Best Western to not charge you for the last night.
I'm just not going to listen to them lol. I've had 3 people say that! No, I assure you, there are no events that mean you aren't meant to go to Disneyland.
@Pluto468, I am so sorry to hear that happened to you while on vacation! I'm glad you're OK but sad your trip was cut short. We got to Anaheim on July 5th, had a wonderful day in the parks on the 6th, and on the 7th I went to the ER for heart palpitations and just got out on Sunday.
The main thing is after lots of tests and observation, I'm totally healthy, for which I'm very grateful. Like, SO grateful! I have a history of heart palpitations, but since we were far from home I wanted to get it checked out for peace of mind. I actually didn't expect to be admitted, but I was in the end. The hospital itself was pretty run down and I sure which I'd researched before I chose that one. They didn't allow child visitors, so I couldn't see my kids the whole time, which made it so much worse for all of us. DH was able to stop by and drop of some things for me on Friday night.
As I said, I know my health is the most important issue, but to have this happen after all the planning and canceled trips last year was just devastating. I was in the parks for 1 day. My kids were so upset they didn't want to go in at all on Friday, but luckily DH took them for a few hours on Sat and Sun, which was a great way to distract them from worrying about me. They had fun sending me pictures and texting me all day.
Mini trip report:
We stayed at the BW Anaheim Plus Inn, and we had a couple of issues like faulty AC and toilet, but they were very nice and gave us the adjoining room we wanted. They fixed the issues right away. The breakfast was great and super helpful. The beds were really comfortable. We extended our stay because we didn't know when I'd get out of the hospital, and the BW kindly didn't charge us for the last night.
We'll likely never stay on Harbor again. The loud cars woke everyone up multiple times a night, so nobody slept well. The terrible guys shouting at everyone through megaphones were mean and horrible and made that walk so stressful. We tried to ignore it, but it was impossible and we all dreaded the walk from the hotel to the parks and back again because of them. Also, the homeless people didn't make it pleasant, either. From now on we'll stay in the bubble.
The Good:
World Of Color Dessert party- A real highlight.
Walk-on Pirates first thing Thursday morning.
Great sightings of Loki, Captain America, Mickey Minnie and Pluto, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Merida and lots of ducklings.
Tried Runaway Railway and loved the new Toontown.
DAS worked out great for my daughter and was very easy.
I finally tried eating on Pacific Wharf and had a great dinner at Lucky Fortune Cookery.
Pym's.
I sadly didn't make it onto Peter Pan, but Snow White was fun.
The crowds were fine and the weather was perfect.
Dole Whips.
Oga's- We ended up basically having the table to ourselves for the whole time, which was a real treat.
We met R2D2!
Thank you! Maybe we passed right by each other and didn't even know@Pluto468, I am so sorry to hear that happened to you while on vacation! I'm glad you're OK but sad your trip was cut short.
P.S. I was there with my younger son the same day you were. It was a really nice day in the parks, glad you got one good day at least!
Well, if you happened to visit Lost and Found I was there four separate times desperately trying to find my backpack, which I lost at 1pm. That had my car keys inside.Thank you! Maybe we passed right by each other and didn't even know![]()
I say, go for it!!! Staying at the grand would be an amazing “make up” trip! Thanks, Crystal. I really couldn't believe how loud those cars were! I'm scared to plan another trip lol. A few people have told me they think I'm just not meant to go to Disneyland after all the cancellations, and now this. But..of course I've already looked into the Grand for November....
Thanks! I'm going to look into a suite or adjoining roomsI say, go for it!!! Staying at the grand would be an amazing “make up” trip!![]()
Sounds great!!Thanks! I'm going to look into a suite or adjoining rooms![]()
Thanks! The kids not being able to visit was the worst. They were SO upset. Luckily we could text and they sent me loads of park photos once they were up for going back in. Before we left CA they both said they never want to go back to Disneyland, but as of today they've both mentioned a few times they can't wait for a make-up trip lol. DD is already pushing for the GrandOh, Pluto468, I'm so sorry to hear about your trip. Thank goodness you are healthy, but I totally get the letdown. The whole fiasco with your children not being able to visit you in the hospital also sounds very stressful.
You definitely deserve a splurge make up trip! Hopefully the next trip will be sprinkled with lots and lots of pixie dust to make up for the last!
Awww, that's too bad that the kiddos now have unhappy associations with Disneyland. Clearly you must go back to create better memories! Thanks! The kids not being able to visit was the worst. That is amazing! Disney customer service at its best. After I got home from the trip I emailed Disneyland to see if they could maybe extend the expiration for that hopper day I couldn't use. I wasn't expecting much since the policy says you have to use the hopper within 13 days, but thought I might as well give it a try. A CM wrote back and offered me a new Hopper that doesn't expire for a year! I'm so happy, because aside from missing out on the trip, losing that ticket was a bummer. And, of course now we HAVE to go back this year lol.![]()

At first I thought it would be hard to go back since the whole thing was so traumatic, but now I can't wait to return for a splurge make-up trip! I'm thinking of November or May.
Thanks again for all the kind, supportive messages from everyone! I really appreciated it.
