After I got home from the trip I emailed Disneyland to see if they could maybe extend the expiration for that hopper day I couldn't use. I wasn't expecting much since the policy says you have to use the hopper within 13 days, but thought I might as well give it a try. A CM wrote back and offered me a new Hopper that doesn't expire for a year! I'm so happy, because aside from missing out on the trip, losing that ticket was a bummer. And, of course now we HAVE to go back this year lol.

At first I thought it would be hard to go back since the whole thing was so traumatic, but now I can't wait to return for a splurge make-up trip! I'm thinking of November or May.
Thanks again for all the kind, supportive messages from everyone! I really appreciated it.

We got to Anaheim on July 5th, had a wonderful day in the parks on the 6th, and on the 7th I went to the ER for heart palpitations and just got out on Sunday.
The main thing is after lots of tests and observation, I'm totally healthy, for which I'm very grateful. Like, SO grateful! I have a history of heart palpitations, but since we were far from home I wanted to get it checked out for peace of mind. I actually didn't expect to be admitted, but I was in the end. The hospital itself was pretty run down and I sure which I'd researched before I chose that one. They didn't allow child visitors, so I couldn't see my kids the whole time, which made it so much worse for all of us. DH was able to stop by and drop of some things for me on Friday night.
As I said, I know my health is the most important issue, but to have this happen after all the planning and canceled trips last year was just devastating. I was in the parks for 1 day. My kids were so upset they didn't want to go in at all on Friday, but luckily DH took them for a few hours on Sat and Sun, which was a great way to distract them from worrying about me. They had fun sending me pictures and texting me all day.
Mini trip report:
We stayed at the BW Anaheim Plus Inn, and we had a couple of issues like faulty AC and toilet, but they were very nice and gave us the adjoining room we wanted. They fixed the issues right away. The breakfast was great and super helpful. The beds were really comfortable. We extended our stay because we didn't know when I'd get out of the hospital, and the BW kindly didn't charge us for the last night.
We'll likely never stay on Harbor again. The loud cars woke everyone up multiple times a night, so nobody slept well. The terrible guys shouting at everyone through megaphones were mean and horrible and made that walk so stressful. We tried to ignore it, but it was impossible and we all dreaded the walk from the hotel to the parks and back again because of them. Also, the homeless people didn't make it pleasant, either. From now on we'll stay in the bubble.
The Good:
World Of Color Dessert party- A real highlight.
Walk-on Pirates first thing Thursday morning.
Great sightings of Loki, Captain America, Mickey Minnie and Pluto, Pinocchio, Gepetto, Merida and lots of ducklings.
Tried Runaway Railway and loved the new Toontown.
DAS worked out great for my daughter and was very easy.
I finally tried eating on Pacific Wharf and had a great dinner at Lucky Fortune Cookery.
Pym's.
I sadly didn't make it onto Peter Pan, but Snow White was fun.
The crowds were fine and the weather was perfect.
Dole Whips.
Oga's- We ended up basically having the table to ourselves for the whole time, which was a real treat.
We met R2D2!
