As I am reading all the different threads I am now starting to wonder if everyone here knows something I don't?

Is July a bad time of year to go to WDW. This will be our first family trip for my DH and DD who is 6 and myself. Can anyone give me some advise on going in July. And has anyone ever actually gone in July.

I still have time to change so I would appreciate any info you can share.

It's incredibly hot and very crowded at WDW in July. If you have other options, I'd suggest a different month. My parents and siblings went in July, 1993 and spent their entire day at MK (from open to close) and only rode 4 rides because the parks were so crowded and the lines were so long. Of course, FastPass wasn't around then and would help to alleviate things a little, but not that much.

We took our family vacation during late July of last year, after visiting in August the previous years, and I was a little concerned about the crowds before we left. Let me tell you it was a wonderful time to go. We had the advantage of the late summer park hours but the early summer crowds had started ease up. I actually noticed the crowds getting larger our last few days as we hit August. We plan on visiting during the same time frame this year as well. The heat you can't get away from if you are traveling in the summer so we don't even worry about that anymore. Only one summer trip did I find the heat unbearable and it would have been just as bad at home.

It will be hot. Get up early go to the parks and stay for few hours until temperatures and crowds rise, then go back to the resort for a swim or nap. Go back to the parks in the early evening, do rides and parade or shows. It will be hot be it is manageable. As a previous poster said the crowds can be big but you can minimize that be going early and coming back and staying late. Have a great time.

What about the end of march for weather and crowds? We want to be able to do the water parks and wear shorts. Is this alot to ask in March?

We always go in July, and yes it's very hot and humid. But we just go into the air-conditioned stores or shows periodically to cool off. The heat was bad, but never a problem enough to make us not want to go at that time. Even stepping into a gift shop for just 5 minutes will made a difference in our heat tolerance. It worked for us!

IMO the weather in late March is MUCH more comfortable than July. It would definitely be hot enough for shorts and water parks, but not such suffocating heat and humidity like July. (I am not very heat tolerant, though, in general.)

I'm unsure of the crowd situation late March. It would depend upon when Spring Breaks and Easter fall. A friend of mine went Easter week this year and said it was VERY crowded. Incidentally, it was quite hot at that time this year, mid 80's I think.

I'm sure you'll get lots of opinions, though! :sunny:

DH came home at lunch and read some of the great replies we got to our July question and decided to move our trip up! Yeay! So we are going in March and staying at the WLV. Can't believe I actually got two weeks this close to arrival date!? Thanks for all the great info!!
This website, it's message board, and the people who are on it are as good as being at WDW (well almost!!!;) )
