July- Fitness Independence for Hakuna Matata!

Good evening team,

-WOW, nice race and time Wellesleyprincess. And, already a new goal for the 5K. Congratulation. How was the movie and was the trip to the running store your gift to yourself for the excellent time???

-I was back to work this week after a 2 weeks vacation and I've decided to go back on vacation for a week. Life is good..

- As an older person (and wiser??? don't think so), I remember when a chocolate bar was 10 cents.

-To all my Canadian friends, I just finished reading a Canadian magazine on running called IRUN and it is very good. They talked about Canadian athletes, nutrition, races in Canada. I could not find it in Sherbrooke,Qc so I subscribe. It's published every two months. The same with the Canadian running magazine, another magazine published every two months. It was about time that we have running magazine in Canada.

- Well it's Tour de France time.
Have a nice week-end
Diane

I finally had a chance to go buy myself some new running shoes today. It was the first time I had ever went to an actually running store and had someone fit them for me. Found out like I suspected that I needed a stabilizing shoe, so I'm excited to try them out.

BUT the most important part is when it was down to me deciding between 2 different shoes, I chose the ones that felt better NOT the pretty blue ones! I guess I am actually becoming serious now. :cool1: You all would have been so proud of me. :woohoo:

Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend!:cheer2:

Dawn, wise choice n the shoes, very wise.

Jenn, great report, kewl story,

New stupid computer all set up, sleep i calling but JB concert on Siriusis just too good,

Challenged now to get my rear in gear and bump up my miles next week even being on the road.

If any of ya are in the area tomrrow, i will amke ya a breakfast buritto adn then you ca help with texturing of the dry wall.

Good Job, Dawnie!! Feels good should always trump pretty

Taking a rest day, today. Worked hard on hills this week!

Scott, wish I was going to be in the area tomorrow, but alas, I am still going to be here.

Y'all have a great day!

Hi guys, basicly a rest day for me. I did some brisk walking at the mall waiting for Erica to get off work so we could do breakfast.

I'll be doing some yard mowing later after I get off work. That mowing has really done wonders for my achillies, the knot of scar tissue that has been bothering me is almost gone.

Have a great Sunday dear friends.

Happy Panda:hippie:

Good morning team! Hope everyone is having a fantastic weekend :goodvibes I've been waiting to go running this morning. It's been raining pretty hard and I can't tell if it's going to let up. Normally I don't mind a little bit of rain but it is pouring outside - the kind where you get soaking wet just going out to the car. So I'll wait a little bit longer and then I'll have to put it off until this afternoon.

Jen - Congrats on another amazing race!! You go girl :cheer2: I want to see the Dark Knight but haven't had the time this weekend. My local theatre is playing it on four out of eight screens. I can't wait to see how much it's going to pull in this weekend.

Diane - I think The Running Room carries IRun. When I was in there last month, they had a couple of copies beside their own magazine and their catalogues. I think they were free.

Dawnie - Yay for picking the shoes that you feel better in! I use to go for a more stylish "running" shoe. My PT recently told me that I shouldn't even be walking in them because they have too much of a heel. The things you learn - I never would have thought that Shox have a heel but after talking to some of my other friends it isn't a great shoe for other sports either.

Scott - Congrats to you and Lynn on the 10K! That was a great pace :goodvibes

Connie - I have a TM but I'm not suppose to be running on it. Most people have an easier time with their joints on the TM, except for me  Go figure!

Denise - Glad to hear you're feeling better! I have the same stress with money too. Some days I think I should be saving my money and not going to WDW in January... Btw, I shortened my stride going up that hill yesterday and I definitely didn't feel as tired. But I think you're right that it's something that's going to come with practice.

Eva - I think I'm going to do some hill work this week. Let me know how it goes for you :)

Ok well, I think the rain is finally letting up so I'm going to get out there! Have a great day everyone!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: Congratulations, Jen, Scott & Lynn! Great Times! :cheer2: :cheer2:

How is our little Baby Phoenix today?

Dawnie, we are proud of your choice of shoes - Way To Go! :thumbsup2

Connie, are you piling up the miles on the 'Dreadmill'?

DD & SIL went to the 'Dark Knight' last night and said it was awesome (?) Probably not my type of movie so I will take their word for it :upsidedow

:hippie: That is Great News :goodvibes
I'll be doing some yard mowing later after I get off work. That mowing has really done wonders for my Achilles, the knot of scar tissue that has been bothering me is almost gone.

Not sure what today will bring - I took an extra rest day. I am having a sinus thing and just tired. It rained hard all day yesterday and thunderstorms are expected today. :sad2:

Enjoy the Moments! :grouphug:

Put a big done stamp on the basement Texture, I want credit for holding up a dry wall texture gun for three hours with about 35 [pounds of mudd in it LOL

Off to Lowes to return a couple of buckets o mudd and get some paint, Lynn needs a project next week, LOL

Glad folks are feeling better and others are being smart and resting,

TTFN be good and have fun and just enjoy life, we only get one shot at it so make it fun, if ya don't it is your own fault.

Went by Sierra Trading Post, before Lowes, scored a pair of Ascic Kenyanos for $53.00, also got a running top and Lynn got a sport bra, also a couple of free t-shirts.

My old new balance race shoes need to be replaced, I say that every race, now they can be retired, to every day wear.

Today is 11 miles LSD. :scared1: Then I weight in to hopefully be at goal at WW. I'll start maintenance and make lifetime in just enough time to go to WDW and gain it all back eating Dolewhips and French Toast Loaf! Luckily I'll have 3 weeks of get rid of all those calories before I have to weigh in again. Wish me luck on goal! :wizard:

Jennifer - You rock at 5Ks!!! Way to go...GREAT time on that!!!! Also, I loved the race report...I for get how exciting race day can be!! :cool1:

Denise - I'll take some of that lasagna off your hands...or out of your freezer as it were..lol! Yummmmm!!

Scott - Great pace for a hot day! The heat really does zap you doesn't it?! I used to like running in the heat for some odd reason, but now I do whatever I can to avoid it. I woke up at 4 today on my day off to prepare to leave at 5:30 for my long run. :upsidedow PS - Jealous of the price on the Kayanos!!

Vicky - Well...another week gone by and no hills. I ran two hilly routes this week, but no repeats. Today is my LR day so it a clean slate for the coming week. I'm hoping to try it out. I'll let you know!!

Margie - Today is the day that we get to meet Baby Phoenix!! I'll take pictures! My mom and I are headed there right after I finish my LR and hit WW for weigh in! Stay tuned!!

To the rest of the team...HAPPY TRAINING!!!

Good morning guys.

We are off in a few minutes for our first 12 mile walk since January. Wish us luck. The biggest issue will be the heat, it's forcasted to be close to a 100 degrees today with high humidity.

Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate!!!

After the walk Erica has PT for her toe. The second toe on the left foot has a locked joint in the joint closest to the foot. They said she probably already had it but the discomfort of the bunions over shadowed it.

We had grand children over to visit last night and the house is wreaked. We should name a major storm after them. The poor dog will need therapy.

Walk/run/rest/love Strong everyone

Hydrated Panda:hippie:

Good morning, Team!!! :goodvibes

We went to see "Mamma Mia"! It was great fun. DH, is the one who wanted to see it! :rotfl: And even he enjoyed it tremendously. Meryl Streep was great and who knew, Pierce Brosnan could be so funny?

Off to do some more hill work, today. Just can't get enough of those hills! :lmao:

Got up and felt like crud, just beat, unusual for me, I think it was holding the texture gun over my head for three hours.

Will see if a day off helps.

Hey anyone ever try that 5 hour energy stuff??? It is advertised a bunch during the Tour?

You guys have a great long dist day, way to go. Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate

Good Morning Team! :goodvibes

Scott & Lynn
- Way to Go on finishing the texuring...YEAH!!!! Feels so good to get one more major thing accomplished. I liked your choice of rewards from Sierra Trading Post too! :cool1:

:hippie: I do understand -that grandchildren chaos it is happening around here daily. My living room looks like a disaster area of a day care center most of the time. :lmao:

:hippie: And Erica, hope your walk was okay, stay hydrated, and be safe - I cannot imagine your heat & humidity. I don't walk outside when its over 80 degrees...I really get  My little Hagen is sleeping. When he wakes I plan to go for a short walk on the most shaded route, if it is not raining.

Erica - hope the PT makes your toe WAY better! :goodvibes

Connie, sounds like a movie I would like.

:upsidedow

Eva - I am eager to hear/see little Phoenix  May your WW experience be all you hoped it would be and you have now achieved Life Time Maintenance!!!! :thumbsup2

Good Morning Team! Hope everyone had a good weekend!

As Scott said, we had a good 10K race, again, I was dead last, as the only walker doing the 10K, but according to Scott, I won my class in the race (being the only woman over 50 doing the 10K:lmao: ) I did not get another personal best, but it was a respectible pace for me (14:10). Of course, todays 6 miles, I could not get over a pace of 16 again!!! At least I seem to do better in races than in training!

The baby robins are still in the backyard, but they no longer have adult supervision! They are now big enough and fly well enough to escape the dogs, so we have allowed the dogs access to the entire backyard again! The robins have discovered the cherries on the cherry tree, we have bird netting over it, but that is not stopping them from getting at the cherries near the outside of the netting!

The basement has been textures, so now I get to start painting, I will start this afternoon, the basement is the coolest place in the house! I am really interested in seeing how the color we picked out works, and I do want to unseal the finished rooms, now that the sanding is done, but I will leave the plastic up on the doors until I have painted around them, then I will not worry about getting paint on the doors.

OK, better go get busy! Have a great day!

Good Afternoon All,

Jen, Scott & Lynn congrats. on your weekend races.

Dave/ Erica, hope this morning wasn't too hot and all went well on your 12 miler.

Eva, congrats. on WW.

Diane, I was able to pickup the first two copies of iRun at the local
Running Room Store. Great magazine. There is also another new mag. Canadian Running (www.runningmagazine.ca). It was ok but preferred iRun.

Had a great weekend at the cottage. The lake is warming up nicely and we were able to get in swimming. Got out for 2 3+ milers with my trusty bear whistle. We woke up Sat. morning to mama and her cub in the backyard. She's quite a bold little mother and had wrecked havoc at the neighbors earlier in the week. Tore off the gazebo screen door, shed door and screen from the cottage door.

Have a great run/ walk tonight. We might be in for rain or T-storm....Sue

Hi everybody!!!

We did a really hot 10 miler! A bank thermometer at the 4 mile mark read 88 degrees:eek:
My Garmin's battery died right before the 4 mile mark. I had the dumb thing plugged in and thought it had charged...nope. Luckily I knew the distance.

Went to PT my toe feels tons better.

Hope everybody is doing good!!!

Erica:)

Don;t you just love PT!! They sure have worked wonders for me. 10 miles, you deserve a medal. It's quite hot here too so I"m not sure what I"m going to do tonight. I think I may break open the Pilates for Dummies and work on that. Mark is a bit under the weather so I doubt he'll venture out tonight.

We plan on 4 miles in the morning, so if I'm not with him, Miranda wants to come with me so I'll have a buddy.

We tried on our dresses for the wedding. We can both zip them up but they need to be loose so we'll work on that whole core thing today. We have 3 months to get into them properly.:rolleyes1

Have a good night all.

denise

It was forcasted to be close to 100 degrees and as we were doing our 4th mile on the way to 10 miles the themperture was already 88 humid degrees at 8:00 am. By the time the 10 miles were over it was an even more humid 96 degrees.

After a break for pancakes with blueberries, a coffee and lots of water. Then I went home and push mowed the yard for 2 hours. I took 2 5 min breaks and drank 20 oz of G2 sports drink on each break.

Then after a shower and another bottle of water I vacuumed the house and mopped the kitchen floor. I still had a ton of energy and that is normal for me.

Then we went to a buffett for dinner so Erica could get a bunch of different veggies and I couls get baked fish and veggies. After dinner we met my son and the three grand kids and did the fair.

Been a long day so the panda is off to bed.

Ya'll have a super evening.

Tired Panda:hippie:

Just a quick update since I'm at the office...

No pictures of Phoenix yet since we used my mom's camera. She is not conputer savy so until my dad gets home or I go back to their house we won't get them uploaded. Soon though I hope!

Thanks for the congtrats about WW. I'm a bit worried though as I looked at my calendar to plot my maintanence weeks I've noticed that my last week of weigh in is actually while I'll be in WDW!! I'm hoping they will let me weight in the day before we leave instead, but if they make me wait til I get home I WILL NOT be at goal. The heat, sodium and walking for 6 days will make me retain water. I blow up at WDW!!! Anyhow...so that's my big worry for this week until I can get in and talk to my instructor. Fingers crossed..I'd love to have an enjoyable vacation without that to return to! :worried:

Anyhow...today is a rest day for me. We are going out for sushi and to see the Dark Knight!! YAY!!

Happy Training Team!!!
