July- Fitness Independence for Hakuna Matata!

Good Morning;

Did my first Pilates for Dummies session last night. I’m no where near able to do the stuff she does but it was my FIRST session. After I was done, my left hip felt much which is the one the PT and Mark have had to yank on for me. I actually felt good all over and not very sore today.

Went out for 4 miles this morning. Way before the heat hit us here. So all in all it’s a good day. But then again it's 8:26 am a lot can happen quickly.

Take care everyone.

denise

P.S. – Dave, I’d collapse after that kind of day!

Good morning Team!

Denise - Pilates will come. It just takes a while. I am so glad it is good for your hip. As much as I hate doing it ( and I do hate it) it is good for my hip and back. Learning to do Pilates with the Dummies series is great. When you get further along and you don't need all the extra instruction that she does, I have some great Pilates videos for you to try!

Eva - Patiently waiting for the photos of Phoenix. :surfweb:

Dave - What fun 8 grandkids. Love to see them show up.....Love to see them leave. But what fun in the middle! Are you going to send the dog home with any of them?? :rotfl2:

Sue - You guys had a bear-y good time! :rotfl: I would agree, she was a little mother......!!! :rotfl: I hope the expense Mamma Bear caused is covered by insurance.

Yesterday, I had some great intervals. I actually did .2 miles at a 12:00 pace!!! If I can do it for .2 miles, it won't be long before I can do it for 2 miles!!!

My truck is still in the shop. Dang it. I took it in last Thursday. It seems that it needs a sleeve thing for the transmission. I don't know the technical term but it is a pricey part at $700 and of course, the higher a part the more difficult it is to put in. Can't wait to see the bill on this! :scared1:

By the way, it is that time of week, again! Get your miles and hours in! We are the hurs leaders!!!:woohoo:

Morning everyone! Went for a 3 mile walk yesterday to walk off some of the goodies I had eaten over the weekend :) It's cooler here but the humidity is still high. It's making it difficult to increase my mileage and I'm really trying to avoid the TM.

Sue - Yikes! Bears! A friend of mine at work said they came across one while camping a couple of weeks ago. They managed to take a picture of it but then someone in their group freaked out and started running and screaming. Luckily they weren't chased by the bear.

Scott - Hope you're feeling better today!

Dave/Erica - The two of you are really racking up the miles! I'm still working my way up to 5 mile walks :) I think I have to increase my pace though, that way they won't take as long.

Connie - WTG on the 12 m/m! :) You know, there are times I end running that pace too because I'm so exhausted.

Eva - It's been a while since I've done WW but I think I was allowed to weigh in before I went on vacation. The thing is... I also weighed in after I came back home and I had lost. I think it's because of all the walking. I also tried to make *some* better choices *lol*

Stay cool and keep hydrated everyone! :)

Good morning guys.

I'm still trying to decide if I want to do anything today. I have to work today but late so I have some procrastination time. I really should do some weights but that means at least a half hour of brisk walking to warm up since I have to have a good sweat going before I'll do weights.

Connie, I really don't want to tell Erica I gave her dog away. That was the Valentines Day dog, remember that story. She has already told me it's to bad I'm not one of those moles in the Whack a Mole game cause she could go through some quarters booping me.

She rode rides with the kids at the fair last night, I'm not a big ride fan, (yes I'm a ride whussy), but I enjoyed the bumper cars and the Merry Go Round, I rode the horse with no hands to.:cool1:

Walk/run/rest/love strong everyone.

Procrastinating Panda:hippie:

Good Morning Team!

Connie - I will get to the weekly totals as soon as I am done posting, I promise!

Dave - Do we want to know the story about giving away Erica's dog?????

Erica - great job on the milage!

Today was an off day, I took the dogs for a 1.27 mile loop, then tried to calibrate the IPOD running - the problem being that the shortest distance to use for calibration is .25 miles, and I can only run about .15 miles at a time - I thought I could pause it, but that did not work, so I gave up and reset it back to default settings. I will wear it for the next few days and see how far off it is. I wanted it calibrated so I could use it to calculate time and miles on the ship. I may just have to count laps like I usually do if it is too far off.
Then I took the bike out, but my knee hurt so much that I turned around very early, of course, but the time I got home, my knee felt fine, so I should have just continued the bike ride!

Yesterday I took back the Saucony shoes, and got a pair of Mizuno Wave Alchemy 8's, they are supposed to be a support and cushioning shoe. I did wear them this morning with no problems, will see how they do on longer walk tomorrow. The store gave me full credit on the Saucony's, and the Mizuno's were only $5 more!

It seemed warmer earlier here today, I was out by 6:15, and did not stay out as long as usual, but I thought it was rather warm - did not check the thermometer for confirmation.

Need to get going and add all my miles and times for the week and get them to Connie! Have a great day!

Ok I got off my butt and drove to the gym. Since I needed to warm up before the weights I decided to hit the road for a walk. It was late morning so already 90s and the kind of brutal humidity that you get just before a storm. I did my 4 mile hill route: first mile warm up 14:30, total time for the next 3 miles was 37:34 for a pace of 12:30 on the nose. I was pleased with that pace considering the hills and the heat.

When I got back to the gym I drank a bunch of water and then hit the weight room. Good bicep, shoulder and chest workout then a new exercise I thought up. Standing with a heavy barbell in each hand and twisting slowly as far each direction as I could for a count of 30 reps.

Lunch was a pound of fresh wild caught salmon and a box of microwave steamed veggies. The market had salmon on a manager's special sale since only one day before must sale date. $1.63 a pound.

Lynn the story was about how we got the chocolate lab. I thought you knew that story?

Cooling down Panda:hippie:

Dearest Animal Loving Panda! I do remember the lab story, that's why I thought perhaps, you had arranged a new home!!! :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Things are going so well for me physically, I can't believe it!! I just did 4 miles on the bike without hurting my hip!!!!

Greetings to Our Team :cheer2:

This has to be on the run and I tried to read the post but know I missed 'stuff.' Sounds like some good happenings :goodvibes

Gym this morning - I must be more rested after two rest days or I am finally improving, as it seemed a much easier.

Connie,
I will PM my times & miles tonight after I get back from my yearly physical :headache:

Enjoy!

Hi teammates!!

Went to the gym this afternoon and did a 6 miler on the dreadmill!! The morning storms did nothing to cool down the temp, and only slightly lowered the humidity.

Lynn: I'm glad that you got full credit for the Saucony's!!

Need to go and process some fresh ears of corn!!!

Erica:)

Hey Lynn, if ya get this add a 3.7 miler for me this morning at 32 min.

Been on the road since yesterday, about one hour or so from home, on hte air card as partner drives, got reports all filed and good to go, hope to see the Thunderbirds tomorrow

Sue if we ever meet ask me about my bear story, they can be rather pesky,

Dave and Erica and other in those humid zones, stay cool.

I hope to get some miles in tomorrow morn,

Glad Lynn got a refund on those shoes, my $53, work just groovy, they seemed a little stiff, I finally broke down adn retired my NB shoes.

Later have a good evening,

Quick update.

Back from my grandparents. I got in about 4 miles yesterday while I was there. Tried to run tonight but got caught in a thunderstorm so I only got in 1.5 miles.

Mark woke me at 4:45 this morning, he was not going to walk today as he has problems at work that he has to take care of. But he was putting on his shorts when I managed to get one eye open. Good thing, Miranda left a message that she wasn't well enough to go this morning so I'd have to go alone.

Did our 4 miles in about 48 min and I felt great. That one workout of pilates made my quads feel tight, my arms tight and belly in a bit of discomfort so I know it can work. Very encouraging so I will continue that since my quads are what hurt the most after the 1/2 in January.

Mark doesn't want me walking alone any more unless I wear my crappy clothes - so he'd best continue to get up so I don't have to wear my ugly workout wear. There aren't too many cars around at that hour but it only takes 1!

I have bee tonight and massage tomorrow. Oh ya, I have to take a picture of the quilt I made for my massage therapist - she's expecting in a few weeks. So I won't be posting too many miles tomorrow but I'll be back at it on Friday!

Have a good one all.

denise

Good morning HK's!

Welcome home, Welleslyprincess! Hope you enjoyed your visit.

Denise - Why would you need to wear your ugly clothes if Mark isn't with you? Would he know?? :rotfl:

I rode my bike, yesterday! I actually rode for 4 miles!! Without hip problems. I guess Pilates is better than I thought! Finally, got the truck out, yesterday. $891. I had been thinking earlier in the month, that I wouldn't have to make a payment....I guess I was wrong. It was just a different kind of payment!

Off to do a quick 2 miles on the TM.

Make a great day!

Denise, please post tyeh quilt pic here. They are KEWl, we have several quilts, family made ones, they are pretty special.

Got my but in gear and got in a 3.5 mile run, now here at work, two days down and I have in 30 hours already, no wonder I am tired.

Lynn did a great job on painting the basement, however, gulp the color is not what we expected, the tan/pink tone came out Magilla Gorilla Purple. She is reeally bummed as she wanted iot done before out trip. Oh well such is life.

Paper work to do so later, hope t get out and see the Thunderbirds this morn but there is rain in trhe forcase and hevy clouds over their performance area. Will see

Have a good one kids,

Connie, ouch on the Truck, was it a CV boot???

I was up and out for another 3.5 mile morning run (roughly a 30 minute time). I have another morning race this coming saturday. The running club in town sponsors a race every weekend between the 4th of July and Thanksgiving. After this Saturday I'll have 2 weeks between races. I haven't decided if I'm gonna keep up the racing or just keep running while at school.
The Dark Knight was awesome. Although, *** Christian Bale?! I sure hope this stuff about assault is just a bad rumor.

Steff, Glad to know that Mamma Mia is good! My mom and her best friend, her best friend's daughter (who is a year older than me) and myself are going to go see it this weekend.

Glad everyone else's races this past weekend went well.

Best,
Jennifer

I managed to walk 7.5 miles yesterday! However, it was in three separate walks and the pacing was so-so. I figure it was a good start :) I also went for training yesterday, tough session - my arms are still sore! I watched another person who was there jumping rope. She was going really fast but still able to have a conversation with her trainer at the same time. I was impressed because when I jump rope at the gym all I can think about is when are my 2 minutes up?! :rotfl:

Jen - I hope the charges against Christian Bale turn out to be false too. I think this is the first bad rumour that I've heard about him and it just seems so out of character.

Denise - Crappy workout clothes? Hmm... those would just make me walk/run faster because I wouldn't want anyone to see me in my old sweat pants and t-shirt  I love wearing nice workout gear even if it ends up all sweaty at the end. Can't wait to see your quilt though!

Connie - Ouch! What happened with the truck? Glad to hear your workouts are going pain free :goodvibes

Scott - Are you going to redo the paint? Gorilla purple ... hmm... got any pictures?

Lynn - Glad to hear you were able to get credit for your shoes!

Take care everyone and keep up the great work!!

yes we are testing, or I should say Lynn is retesting a new color as I type,

Jennifer, that is KEWL ya have a race every Sat, keeps ya going. Our next one is hte Susan Komen 5K.

I did get to see some of the T-Birds show, they are KEWL.

No pics of the color it is too ugly, actually a nice color but not for that room.

Glad folks are getting in some good miles. Rock On.

Folks at the office here really liked Dark Knight.

Hi guys.

Our walk, 6 miles, went really well. Erica maintained a 15 mpm pace with no problems except the toe. She has a PT appointment for it today and tomorrow.

I'm still liking the new Brooks Mach 10s I wore them today and they were wonderfull. These may become my regular trainers if they continue to perform well. The Mizuno Percision 9s are not going to cut it. After walking in them a few days I was starting to get some ankle bone pain when I walked in them because they rub under the ankle bones. So Looks like my shoes are going to be the Mach 10 and the Mizuno Revolver.

I made us a very refreshing lunch of cucumber and tomato salad with green pepper and walnuts.

Walk/run strong y'all.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Many years ago when I was much younger and cuter and weighed a lot less I was powerwalking wearing my “nice” workout clothes which included a very sexy top. It was around 10 in the morning. I had a guy follow me in a truck. First time he slowed down, then he circled around and came back, by the 3 time, I knew the neighborhood enough and where to hide. I was scared to death I then would wear, a big t-shirt, ugly pants, hair pulled back, hat on, glasses and looked nothing like that cute person in the sexy top.

Today I had on my Wish shirt, wish hat and some new capri pants. Mark saw my outfit and decided – unless he’s with Miranda and I - no more tight fitting clothes! Yes, I’m starting to be cute once again – well according to him anyway.

Still waiting to fit in that darn skirt for the DD's wedding, I have 3 months!

Sheesh but I do feel way better and stronger!

denise

Dave & I did a really nice 6 miler this morning!! Maintained a 15 min pace. Toe feels a whole lot better since PT this afternoon.

Hope everybody is doing good!

Total for the week: 19 miles for me and will be giving ultramm 3 mi

Erica
