July 9th 2005 - West Coast Cruise.

Well I have done a lot of packing and added stuff to my list. I hope I have enough room and that there are sky caps when I get to the airport. Dylan and I will never be able to handle the suitcases ourselves!!!! :rotfl:

Thanks for the information on the embarkation. We will be at the mercy of Disneyland as to when we get there so it will probably be late. Dylan is not the most patient person so I am not looking forward to the wait at the terminal!! I can't believe that it is less than two weeks for the cruise and just over a week before we leave for California -- and still no documents!!

My TA said they were mailed Fed Ex and they I should receive the Disneyland stuff Monday and the Cruise on Wednesday ---- I guess Fed Ex is not what it used to be!!!! We are being met at the Airport by a Limo for the ride to the Hotel. I thought it would be fun to really go "Hollywood"! :cool1:

I really hope this week goes by fast!!! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Can someone tell me do we need to pack our own beach towel ? I was planning not just so we had extra space for other stuff!!! :crowded: -Christine

Christine,
On our other cruises, Disney had stacks of towels to grab as you got off of the boat. I assume it will be the same. But, you know what happens when you "assume" :rotfl2: BTW, we aren't bringing any towels. (Although, they would be good for marking chairs poolside.)

Sorry to hear about the car problems, Sara.

I plan on making activity booklets for my kids. Things like Disney word searches, coloring pages (for Cassie), trivia, and whatever else I can think of. If anyone would like a copy for their kid-let(s), let me know. It might take some of the "crankies" away during the wait in the terminal.

Anyone making a door sign? I'll try and post mine when I figure out how. Craig, where did you get the clip art for the t-shirts? Or did you just draw it (which would be very impressive, BTW).

Oh, and boarding starts at noon according to my friends - who are now relaxing by the pool, having a drink, enjoying the sun, loving life - but I'm not jealous or anything :earboy2:

Cheri...I would LOVE to get a copy of the activity booklets for my kids!!! Thanks! I'm trying to work on a door sign...but not having too much luck yet...and if I did, I'm not sure I'd know how to post it! But I'll try if I ever get one (or more) done!

Kim :flower:

Christine...I wasn't planning on bringing towels either. I don't think they'll fit with all the shoes we're bringing! :rotfl2: Also, I figure the DCL beach towels that they sell might be a nice souvenir!!

I think the only time Disney would be giving people towels as they disembarked the ship at port would be at Castaway Cay. I would highly doubt that they would allow their own towels to be taken into beach areas at ports that isn't on their own property. Can you imagine the loss of revenue from forgotten towels?

Hi everyone! Back from a fun-filled weekend in San Diego. We got to feed the dolphins yesterday and after I touched their foreheads, I was hooked. I called DCL, but alas no swim with dolphins left. She said to keep calling back. Got the most wonderful call from our TA on our answering machine--our docs are here! She said "no hurry, you can pick them up anytime before the cruise." Is she crazy??? I'm going first thing tomorrow morning to pick them up.

Kim--any luck on the nametags? Maybe you could wear yours when you board, that way we could find you and get them from you.

Cheri--I would love 1 booklet for Megan. I don't know what you look like, so I'll just walk around asking, "Are you SoccerMom?"

Now back to all the work I missed on Friday!

QUESTION: What is our schedule for "meets" on the ship and our shirt-wearing schedule? Please let me know, I don't want to be the only one wonderling around with our lime shirts on!

This question was about 4 pages back with no answers. Of course, I am dying to know as well so I am bumping back up. Thanks in advance.

Hi Linda - I believe we are planning on wearing our shirts when we board and meeting on deck 10 for the sailaway. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I can't believe how close we are getting. I'm starting to panic about all that needs to be done before we go. Especially at work where I have a big project to get done before I go.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

I'll amend my answer about towels at the beach: I guess I was thinking about the times I got off of the ship. I remember some towels, but it may have been for a Disney excursion and most certainly for CC. Sorry for the confusion. Just a few too many details (and a heck of a lot of :Pinkbounc :cool1: ) going on in this small brain! On our kayak trip, they provided towels. In Key West, the resort we visited lent us some. Hmmmm....if we all do "Cabo in a Pack" :goodvibes , how should we ... get .... some towels?

Sheila, you have it right as far as I'm concerned :earsgirl: the Soccer-family will be in lime green at boarding and on deck 10 right after the life boat drill. (We'll be the loud ones :rotfl2: )

Craig has a picture of those of us at the DIS meets. I took it and added our names to it. He holds the copyright so we'll need his permission before emailing to anyone who wants a copy to put names to faces :earboy2: (PM for the details, legal jargon, and applicable fees)

Ok first on towels -- Disney does provide towels when you leave for shore excursions. At least they did last year in all of the ports not just Castaway. They have large bins as you reenter the ship to toss your dirty towels. By the way make sure you don't toss in any purchases. We accidently did last year and it was a hoot searching for our T-shirt bag. We sort of remembered the level of the bin when we arrived and fortuneately they were in a colored bag. Miraculously we found them. The cruise staff was wonderful though as they stated that they would search in the laundry!!! :rotfl:

As for door signs --- I went to Home Depot and took several of the Mickey Head paint samples. Dylan and I placed magnetic strips on them. I also spelled out our name in Disney heads. That is about as creative as I get!!! We have a pirate flag which we bought at the Cayman's last year which should be perfect! pirate:

Does anyone have a list of the Port web-cams that were posted for the repositioning cruise for our cruise? I had written them down but now can't find them. I wanted to send to family friends so that they could follow us along!

Feel free to send out photo to all who want it. I also sent you a copy of the pirate logo and the bone font link.

Yes that's that plan, I believe. Deck 10, starboard (that's right, for those of you who are nautically challenged) side. Those of you who earned a free sail-away drink, that's where I'll be, taking orders!! :drinking1

Chris

p.s. No, I'm not posting at 5AM...I'm in Amsterdam, where it's 2PM!

Chris - You shouldn't have disclosed your location, so we could have admired your dedication to our group!!!!

Anyway, I'm finally starting to gather stuff for our departure on Saturday!!! I bought a few things at Target and have started segregating things to be packed!! I'll pack on Friday, since Darren will be home to help. It still makes me VERY dizzy to bend down and stuff!!! I'm also trying to find a car to the airport since parking at a NYC airport for just over two weeks is like highway robbery!!! Basically we can get a limo to/from the airport for the same cost as leaving my car, sounds like a no brainer to me!!!!

Thanks for all the info about the towels everyone.I guess if we have room :rotfl2: we will bring towels. As for the t-shirt situation we will be wearing ours when we board it will make it fun for our group :grouphug: to seek eachother out.Can you imagine all the people wondering where or why they didnt get their shirts!! Did i say how excited i am? :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1: :jumping1:
Christine

We were going to wear something else to board, but having matching t-shirts for the picture when we board would be fun. I also like that we can pick each other out in a crowd.

I guess we'll be bringing towels, too. Glad someone brought that up.

Picked up docs today!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Also helped some friends book a Princess Cruise while I was at AAA. Got a nice scrapbook/photo album, nice luggage tags and a Minnie Mouse antenna topper. Needless to say, I won't be leaving that on at the port with all those Disney fanatics. Last time I had my Mickey stolen after about 3 weeks :sad2: .

Hope everyone has their docs by now!

Christine, You aren't excited or anything are you? LOL!
We will also be wearing our shirts. I don't know if DH and DS know that but that's ok. I did a bunch of packing yesterday, so proud of myself!

No one is more excited than us - we went down to the ship again on Saturday to see it off. I think we'll be back again next Saturday and the following Saturday for sure. Would it be apporpraite to camp outside the terminal for 11 days? :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Hi all,
We're still in the no docs club, but expecting them midweek. We leave Sat. July 2nd so it's pretty tight timewise. The kids and I are getting all excited for DL and cruise. :Pinkbounc :bounce: Can't wait to meet everyone on board. Patty
