Day One: The Case of the Missing Construction Barrels is solved
July 9, 2003
Why is it I become the most vitally important person in my office when I want to leave in five minutes? Anyway, after reassuring everyone the office would survive without me for two and a half days I was on my way to pick up DH. Picked up DH and were on the road!!!!! Breezed through the city and headed down I75. We hit a small patch of construction around Warner Robbins, took a small detour off of I75 and were back on the road. Driving down I75 I noticed that the road was lined on both sides with those orange and white striped construction barrels. For miles. And miles. And more miles. And even more miles. Both north and southbound. Other than the construction at Warner Robbins I never actually saw the barrels being usedthey were just on the side of the road. The State of Georgia must have borrowed every construction barrel from several neighboring states and then some. Maybe its a secret Government test to determine if drivers can suffer as much from orange barrel fever as they do from white line fever???
Anyway, despite the detour we made it to our hotel in 7 hours. For the first two nights we stayed at the Fairfield Inn at the Marriott Village. Youll find a full review and the updated bus schedule on the Orlando hotels board. Lets just say it was the hotel that had the best guest service out of the three we stayed in. I have written Marriott and let them know how pleased we were. Maria at the Front Desk was EXCEPTIONAL!!!!
After checking in, DH went swimming and I went to the outlet mall. Didnt see anything that jumped out and screamed BUY ME so I passed on most of the shopping tonight. I went to Walgreens and picked up some sunscreen for DHhe wanted SPF15 and I only had 45 and 50, grabbed dinner from Taco Bell at the Crossroads and went back to the room.
Actually was able to sleep with DH!!!!! Those of you married to a snorer know what Im talking about. Anyone who has ever shared a room with us has SWORN to never share with us again no matter what the room costs!!!!!!! Lets just say if you stood outside our door you could hear DH through it!
Great road trip: made good time (skipped our usual stops at the Florida Welcome Center and the Disney Welcome Center in Ocala); hotel was excellent; DH liked the pool and were here!!!!!
