FYI - I just saw the tv guide & there's a show called Britains Top 10 Castles on the Travel Channel at 1pm eastern. I set the DVR - I'm hoping they show Leed's and Dover.

There's a laundry thread on the main cruise board that I just posted a question to, but maybe someone on here can answer it for me... Evidently, DCL has changed over to HE washing machines, of which I have no experience with. Can I still use regular Tide (in any form) in an HE machine? My skin is very sensitive so I am very reluctant to try another detergent brand, especially in the middle of a 12-day cruise.

First - yes the laundry uses the KTTW cards.
I love the Purex sheets we use them all the time! I don't know about the HE washers, but they started making the Purex sheets in their fragrance/allergy free formula (white package) you might want to try buying a pack & see if they work for you before going on the trip. My older ds has has skin issues & we've never had a problem with any of the Purex (even the regular ones)

Hey Alice,

This is interesting. When we booked, the Ball at Catherine's Palace did not start until 6:15 and went till 11:00. Now it goes from 5:00 to 9:45. We have (and were allowed to book) the St.Petersburg introduction and the Ball at Catherine's Palce. The introduction tour gets back ends at 4:45.

Jeff

Hi Jeff - so you guys are going to try and get back in time? We have the cathedral/boat ride and it returns at 4:45 and they have rec. that we change it - does the intro end closer to the port maybe and not have the concerns about traffic? they rec their private tour that day :rolleyes1.

ANd to answer about the dress for the Ball - period costumes would be so fun and I would b all for it, but I am already twisting the teenage nephew and the tom boy niece ("princesses aghhh") to go - (i know them well enough to know they will like it once they get there) so we will just dress "nice" .

Don't know if this has been posted. A map of the Stockholm port/city with the Ice Bar marked. Have fun!

Kathy,
Thanks for posting the map of Stockholm link. It was very helpful! Does anyone know of any similar links for the other ports?

nzDisneymom, Thanks for adding us to the list! Trying to get our 10 posts up so we can send messages.

You can buy Tide over here instead of bringing it over with you. Likewise you can buy all in one detergents and conditioners. Just thought it would save you some room on packing if you didn't have to bring it over, more room for clothes and souveniers.

Anyone know how much time I should alot from the Eurostar train station to the Eiffel tower?s I'm trying to figure what time slot I should buy for tixs for the tower. We are planning on doing that first thing when we get there. Our train arrives at 11:47am
Thanks

We went to Paris for a few hours in January. We didn't have time to get to the Eiffel Tower, but I would give yourselves a minimum of 30 minutes to get to the tower from the train station and that's using the Metro, the underground train system. To be absolutely sure give yourselves an hour. Paris is more spread out than you think. You can buy tickets for the Metro in London at the train station before you go and it works out cheaper than buying them there and it's quicker than working out which one you want when you get there. We got one that lasted the whole day and allowed us to hop on and off the tubes as and when we liked.

Hi

Does anyone know where I can get a fish extender from? I know most people make their own, but put me near a sewing machine and they have a tendency to explode. I'm quite good with other electrical items, but sewing machines and me just don't get on. I've looked on ebay and no one is selling them.

I can totally relate. I just did a search in ebay and I found some. Did you search say fish extender? I got mine from gradysmommy and she has some listed. I don't know if she ships to UK. I have gotten 3 from her and they all were wonderful.

Thanks for the info. That's why we want to go there first. We have tixs for the last train back to London. I'm hoping it helps that I'm going to buy the tixs online for the Tower. Right now the calendar only goes thru May on the website. We aren't kidding ourselves, we know we won't be able to get all the things we want to do done in one day. I have been to Paris twice when I was younger, so I don't mind. This is for my BF and DH who have never been there.

Thanks for that, I'll have a look.
