I was going to plan an Ice Bar trip in London so we wouldn't have to try to make it in the other places when we'll have less time. But now that it's a party...

We would have chosen London as we have more days there, but I don't think they allow children like Stockholm does. And my 14 year old was more excited about going here than Russia :upsidedow I don't pretend to understand them..

I'm signed up for the Helsinki Nordic Walking. Enough said.

(Guess I'd better check into that age thing)
Ok, checked. Found this on the London website:
What is your age policy? Can children enter ABSOLUT ICEBAR? Minors are welcome to join us in the daytime sessions (last entry at 18:30) when accompanied by an adult; after that the age limit is strictly 18 and older. Valid ID may be required. We have a few smaller capes suitable for children, however we do not have capes small enough for babies and toddlers; if you wish to bring very little people into ABSOLUT ICEBAR with you please ensure you dress them suitably for the cold.

I guess we'll see you at the ice bar as well. Thanks for the heads up on that. I believe I got the last noon slot and then it jumps to 3:45. I would have been stuck with the Copenhagen one. Stockholm was our first choice.

We'll wave to you all from the window:wave2:

All this ice bar talk makes me really want to go! Hmmm can I leave dh with the kids :rotfl:

I got excursions booked:

Oslo - Oslo Highlights
Copenhagen - we're meeting up with dh's friend & doing HoHo buses
Warnemunde - Rostock regional highlights (may cancel this & do on our own)
St. P - private tour
Helsinki - Helsinki Walking Tour
Stockholm - Stockholm Vasa & Royal Armory - I really wanted to do the Viking Walking tour but I figured we were already doing 3 walking tours & kids might revolt  I looked at booking both but they overlap by 15 minutes!!

I looked at Palo's & spa but decided I'll just get a rainforest room pass when we get onboard

Cindy (nzdisneymom) ~ We were so sorry to hear about all the trouble you had last night while trying to book your excursions. Was your TA able to help today?

Hi Judy and Denise,

We were able to book online today for the Absolut Ice Bar in Stockholm.
Here is the link:
http://www.nordicseahotel.se/en/The-hotel/Food-and-drink/Absolut-Icebar-Stockholm/

They do have a noon time slot on July 15th. I would be nervous about booking after 3pm.

I was able to print out my confirmation, which is necessary to enter.
I have read that they do not accept "walk-ins", reservations are required.

Joanne

Hi...just curious if you can let us know where you read that they don't accept "walk-ins"? I had gone off of what their website indicated and it said that if you have a booked reservations it was 170 SEK and a walk in was 195 SEK; so we assumed they took walk-ins...now I'm confused.

TIA

It's on the same page under opening hours for Summer. Drop in for Thurs-Sat is 21:45 which is 9:45pm-we won't be there that late.

Thanks for asking about our luck with excursion bookings - and thanks for letting me whine here in frustration last night and this morning!

I called DCL at 8:40 this morning and pressed the "having trouble with our website" extension. They said a four minute wait. Twenty five minutes later, i was still on hold, so I hung up. I tried a couple of times from the office and got the same error messages.

I tried again at 12:45 and still got error messages. Our TA tried this morning for us and got the same msgs we got. She called them and they couldn't seem to find a reason that we were having trouble. She was about to get on a plane from ORL home and wouldn't be able to get back online / call DCL til morning (and since it wasn't an emergency, no worries).

So I called DCL again then and got right through. The CM was able to book one excursion for me - well, he didn't exactly do it himself it turns out - he had to get his supervisor to do it. I had to leave at 1 p.m. so I didn't have time to have him get his supervisor to add every excursion for me, so I told him I would try later and call back if necessary.

Got back at 2 p.m. and was able to get on and book an excursion myself! Woo-hoo! So hopefully by having them go in and do whatever, it cleared out whatever was jamming up our reservation. Yay.

However, it took me til after 5 p.m. to get all the excursions booked that we wanted - partly because the system was so very sluggish and I made sure to save after each was added, but also because I had a few meetings and took my afternoon walk :)

But all is well - we booked:

Oslo - Norwegian Adventure, 10 a.m. - 1:15 p.m.
Copenhagen - City and Harbor Tour, 9:45 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Warnemunde - Molli Steam Train, 8:45 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
St. Petersburg - Monday - St. Petersburg Shopping Experience, 1:15 p.m. - 4:45 p.m.
St. Petersburg - Monday night - Evening Canal Boat Tour, 7:00 - 9:45 p.m.
St. Petersburg - Tuesday - City Highlights and Hermitage, 8:00 a.m. - 4:45 p.m.
Helsinki - Panoramic Helsinki, 2:15 - 4:30 p.m.
Stockholm - Historical Stockholm and Sigtuna with Lunch, 8:45 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

We wanted a different tour in Helsinki (from Land and Sea) but while there was some availability, there wasn't enough for a party of four. So we picked Panoramic Helsinki as our 2nd choice. Which actually is probably better because of the time of it after two full days in St. Petersburg. Plus we are planning to meet my 3rd cousin in Helsinki, so if we plan to meet in the mid-late-morning, we'd still have time to meet back at the ship area to do our excursion and then we're not having to worry about getting back to the ship before she leaves! And that gives us more time to visit with him and his family in the early portion of the day.

Whew! I'm exhausted between being up til way after 1 a.m. and getting up at 6:30 this morning and putting in 10 hours at work. But thankfully I don't have many days like this and I'm gonna sleep well tonight!

Our picks (now booked and confirmed) were Viking Heritage in Oslo, Tivoli Gardens & Harbour tour in Copenhagen, Walking Tour of St. Pete's then Evening boat tour for day 1, Catherine's Palace/Hermitage tour and Russian Forklore show for Day 2, Sights and Sounds of Berlin, Porvoo & Helsinki highlights, and Historical Stockholm & Sigtuna with lunch.

We're doing the same one in Stockholm. I noticed that for the first Baltic cruise, it doesn't include the lunch, but the subsequent ones do.

Cindy - we'll be shopping in Russia with you!!! :)

So glad to hear that everything finally worked out. How frustrating, though, to have to go through all of that!!

Less than 3 months to go! Woohoo! :cool1:

Stockholm - Historical Stockholm and Sigtuna
St Pete Day 1 - St Petersburg Shopping Experience and
Evening Canal Boat Tour

Looks like we have quite a few scheduled the same! I scheduled our Tuesday tour for St. Petersburg first and then got the monday evening canal boat - but felt like we had a big hole in Monday afternoon. DH said "well, maybe there is some shopping in the pier area" and then I reminded him we can't get off the ship without a visa unless we're on an excursion. He forgot it wasn't like everywhere else :) Because we want to be sure to have time particularly in St. Petersburg for some shopping (I really want to buy a small set of nesting dolls), the Shopping Experience looked like a good option for us! And we'll get back to the ship with a bit of time for dinner before going back out. I'm really looking forward to seeing the city a bit in the evening hours as well.

I just told Nathan that "Mrs. Deb - you know, the Google lady - is going on the same shopping excursion we're doing."

I was just telling him what time our excursions are so that he'll know he doesn't have to get up the crack-o-dawn every day like we did on the Med.

Please tell both your awesome boys that I said, "Hi!" :wave2: I still can't believe we're cruising together again! Fun! I'm glad you'll finally get to meet my DH! :rotfl: At least others on this thread have met him and know he actually exists! :rotfl2:

I'm on the hunt for a small set of nesting dolls, too! I hear that we'll need to be careful not to buy one that's made in China or Taiwan! :scared1: Evidently, the "real" nesting dolls are quite expensive.

We were at the Hilton Head DVC resort last week and in one of the shops by the resort, there was a set of nesting dolls - made in Russia! I had remarked to my dad that I wanted to get some when we're there - but knowing my luck the only ones I would find would be made in China! The storekeeper said if that's the case, call her and she'll ship me some made-in-Russia when we get home!

I added up the cost of our excursions and they came out on the lower end of what we were budgeting -- so now I'm working on our souvenir budget. When we were in Pisa, I was looking for a small Leaning Tower knick-knack but didn't find one in our minimal shopping time - but I did find a copy of the newly released 7th Harry Potter book. My DH and boys were glad for the book but disappointed to not have a knick-knack from Pisa for our fireplace shelf. So I have to be sure we pick up whatever souvenirs we want when we can get them!

We're doing the same one in Stockholm. I noticed that for the first Baltic cruise, it doesn't include the lunch, but the subsequent ones do.

For whatever reason that cruise got their time cut short in Stockholm - some people say it's a tidal issue - so they are still offering the excursion but to shorten it they are skipping lunch.

Did you have any luck with getting a reservation at the Ice Bar in Stockholm?
