Thanks! My daughter loved this one!

Glad you like it! I needed just a small one for my siggie, I still love the big one we have that is still being tweaked, lol.

Renaissance is $758/night and Park Plaza is $1,140/night for a family of four.

DCL transportation is included when you do air - but it seems like I saw its value as $650-ish if you add it (when I looked on dcl.com late Tuesday). The info we have from the TA is that DCL transportation is via shuttle / ground.

We used DCL for our Med trip -we had non-stop from ATL via Delta to Barcelona.

We need two rooms for our family, so it is tempting but I think I will shop around a bit more. Good thing we have so much time before this cruise! Thanks Cindy..

Is the $165 per person transfer both ways, or just one way?

The hotel prices are soooo high. For a family of 5 wanting to stay 3 days pre and 3 days post, I think I have to find something cheaper myself.

Can you book your own hotel, and then still get the transfers?

I like the idea of a group of us getting our own hotel.

Anyone interested in cheaper than DCL hotels? Any suggestions from those who have been there, or live nearby?

I was thinking we might stay in Dover for a couple of days before. Anyone interested in that?

London Hotel:
We did a two night stayover in London's Hilton Metropole on the way to Barcelona for our 0707 Med cruise. I got 2 rooms (5 of us) for two nights for $89 each/per night by bidding on Priceline. The Metropole was pretty nice and conveniently located near Paddington Station (10 min walk) and Edgeware Road tube station. We took a train from Heathrow to Paddington, then walked (yep bags and all - really wasn't that bad) to the hotel. I used a biddingfortravel.com website to help with my bidding strategy. Will probably do the same in '10.

T-shirt design:
I've started to think about a design - some sort of viking ship motif with secret mouse ears/viking helment thrown in. Have to be subtle because t-shirt companies are sticklers of copyright infringements. I got admonished :rolleyes1 by both companies because my first designs for the Med cruise treaded too close POTC skull and crossbones. pirate:
There's plenty of time to come up with something.

Great ideas all around! Did we settle on a logo- I am probably using "contraband" pirate material! LOL:lmao:
Angel

The logo you have in your signature has a typo. Baltic is spelled BALITIC. There was a corrected one posted. Just an FYI!

:)

Can we book the transfer later? Is it from the airport to the port? Or the hotel to the port? Can you use your own hotel and then book a DCL transfer?

You can add the transfer up to x number of days before the trip. If you book DCL air and DCL hotels, I know it is airport to hotel to ship and back to wherever you need to go. I don't think you can get DCL transfers from non-DCL hotels.

Cindy the Renassiance web site will let you book four people in one room so they must have soem that sleep four. I know because of price we are all staying in the same room. We would usually get Matt his own room but just two expensive. Adding a two night pre and post stay did not up the cost of the cruise that much. It was right around 1,000 for all four nights so that breask down to around 250 a night much cheaper then the price listed.

Cindy, Carol told me you were on here, and I was wondering where you were since you weren't posting! I hope you had a nice trip!

Funny the things that come up when you start thinking about this cruise. I had some friends over tonight for a scrapbook and stampin up party and we got to talking about cruise and the time changes and what they were in all the different countries( this is without any alcohol too LOL).I said well with working nights im so screwed up on time now that I dont think it will even effect me.

YEAH another scrapper. On my last cruise we had a scrap meet. We each picked a page and designed it. They we got together and swapped page kits. It was really fun! I volunteer to coordinate this when we get closer.

$250 a night per person or per room? That seems much less than the prices quoted earlier.

With our CAD dollar so low and prices so high, plus being a family of 5, I'm hoping to really get a good price on pre/post. How did you find the $250 rate? Can you post the website?

I'm hoping that these boards will help all of us plan...maybe next year, one of us (maybe even me) can look into group deals on different hotels.

Lissa - that's what is confusing me because I had checked online to see and saw that the Renaissance would let me book four in a room. And I had our TA check the price and she would've told me if Ren. would require two rooms. But the DCL lady today told me only Park Plaza could accomodate four, so I'm confused. Our TA is out til tomorrow but I sent her a msg to ask again about one or two rooms for our family. The Ren. is quite a bit less than Park Plaza - although Park Plaza looks cool which is why we were looking at staying there -- so maybe since we're only doing two nights post-cruise, we'll stay there anyway.

The only reason I called DCL was to see what they would tell me since we were talking about it here. I'd love if someone else would call and check on four-in-a-room (fwiw, our family is two adults, a 14 y.o. and a 12 y.o. at time of travel). We had to do two rooms in Barcelona and it was a pain - our rooms were down the hall, strange place, we had been told we would have next-door rooms (if not connecting). We had packed one travel-bag so we had to tromp down the hall to take each other stuff. And then Gary and Zachary slept late while I was awake to get the luggage down and I had to go downstairs to tell them our bags were ready for pick-up, and left Nathan sleeping in the room but I was nervous about that. And then I was wide-awake and really wanted to go out and explore a bit (like see the Sea across the street from our hotel) but because Gary and Zachary were sleeping in another room, I couldn't rouse them up to go, and Nathan stayed buried under the covers and even after they came down, we couldn't get Nathan to stir enough to wake up so we could go find something for breakfast. I ate the pb crackers I had in my day-bag from the flight.

Needless to say, we learned a lot on that trip and I want to avoid some of the inconveniences if possible by staying in a single room - especially since we'll be there for more than just one night.

Maybe we should have viking night instead. A night of drinking and debauchery would seem fitting! :lmao:

If DCL doesn't plan one, I vote for Crissup to be in charge of a DIS-viking-night :) Perhaps the night before a sea-day?!

Crissup - good to see you join your family on the thread :)

Possibility?

I really wanted a viking - just can't seem to make it happen.

John & Carol - I added your logo to a "logo" page on the website - if that is not ok - please let me know and I will take it down.

I also added the pirate logo as well.

We had a scrap party too on the last one . We did a whole 8x8 book that a cruiser who works for disney put together. The swapping pages sounds great and probably a better idea then doing a whole book.

We also did a dis boards group picture in all our shirts and on pirate night with a ships photographer in front of Lumieres.

cute...will make a nice door sign too!
I like the idea of a Viking but have not seen Mickey dressed this way..is there anything from Epoct Norway with him dressed this way?
Here's something I made the other day....
