Hi everyone. I am happy to help with the logo but I really can't go by everyone's special requests. If someone has photoshop and wants to play with this I can send them the file. It just gets really hard when everyone has their opinion about what is right. I want you guys to have it just perfect for you cruise! I am just not sure I have the time to fine tune it though. I get so many requests a day and I try to help everyone. Let me know specifics and I will try to help or if someone else wants to do it then that is fine with me too. :thumbsup2

Hi Brooklyn!
This graphic looks great! The only request would be an extra space between Magic and European. Otherwise, I vote YES to this one! :)

What does everyone else think?

In a perfect world, we would have gone on the first sailing or on either of the last two... most definitely not the second sailing. The first sailing will get all the really cool "welcome to this port for the first time" :boat: festivities that can include such things as fireworks, fire tankers spraying water fanned out high in the air, and welcome gifts & presentations. The 3rd and 4th sailing cruisers will have the great benefit of TRs, Navigators, and excursion reviews from the first (and our) sailing. Our only hope is if someone on the first sailing posts a live TR... but even if so, we'll only be able to read the first half because we'll all be enroute during the second half of the first cruise sailing. If I wasn't such an extreme planner, I wouldn't mind as much.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding, but we're the 3rd sailing, and 2nd (and last) going to Finland. So we should be able to read the trip reports of the 1st sailing and if people post from the ship, some of the 2nd as well.

As for us, we chose this cruise because of the dates. My husband is a resident and 'graduates' on 6/30/10. He has his board exams on 8/2/10 and 8/3/10 and will likely start working in a 'real' job in August. So this sailing was pretty much it for us. As a backup we would have done 6/24 1st, assuming my husband could take one of his vacation weeks the last week o his residency, or 7/18 as a 3rd choice. Only problem with that is that we'd get home on 7/30, have to drive back to DC for the board exams (we're flying out of NYC with my mom who lives in NJ), and fight jet lag. So that one seemed risky, as the rest of our lives depends on him passing the boards!

I love it! I have absolutely no complaints as I know what a pain the cruise magnets were that I made for our last cruise. Ugh, it took me forever to get them done!

What made evryone choose Hellsinki over Tallinn? Just wondering; I can't even say why I thought Hellsinki would be the way to go:confused3
Have a great day all!

For us it was also date related. It is hard to get my workaholic husband to take two weeks off. These dates let me use the 4th of July vacation time which seems to give him the Illusion that he is missing ALOT less work. :lmao: :lmao:

What if "Pounds to Rubles: Mickey Invades the Baltic Sea" is placed across the top. Then the flags underneath across the middle. Then "Disney Magic European Capitals Cruise July 6-18, 2010" across the bottom. We could still have two Mickeys, one on each side.

What does everyone else think?

I think that would be good, too, Deb

:upsidedow Oops! :worship: You are absolutely correct! So sorry for any confusion I may have caused!! :flower3:

Let me re-phrase to say I am THRILLED :yay: we're on the 3rd sailing and will be able to read TRs before we leave! Woohoo!!! :cool1:

Love the logo...what talent...
glad you all have eagle eyes...did not notice that Baltic was wrong or that there should be more a space between the two words....:3dglasses
I really like it.....

I agree 100%. A little space between Magic and European. It's perfect. My DH agrees too. Great as it is.:yay:

I am counting on the June 12 Cruise to let us know how strict the reboarding procedures in Russia are regarding whether or not they check for Rubles. Know what I mean? I really want to bring some home for my foreign coin currency collection. I figure just put them in my shoe. Will that set off the metal detector? Will security be able to tell on xray? Will security really even care?

I think the logo is great!
As it gets closer we can go to Cafe press and use it or another logo for shirts and buttons. We did this in May for the PC cruise and our group all wore them on canal day.
Live about 15 min for rays stadium and swear I can hear them from here LOL
Glad to be off tonight and on the dis boards because the hospital has been crazy for the past few days after the games!

Wow - I was offline for 4 days and had a lot of catching up to do! We had a great visit to Portland, Oregon, and took the red-eye home last night / this morning. I forgot how wearing that can be!

Y'all have been really busy. Love the logo design - when it's officially done with tweaking, I'll add the info in the first post about how folks can put it in their sig lines, etc., (if someone can succinctly post it!).

I added everyone that has posted new since I had last updated the first post for an "at a glance" look at how many DISers are booked. Keggy, thanks so much for putting together the website - I PMed my info to you today (since my email wasn't open right now), but if you don't get it, let me know and I'll email it to you.

Lissa asked about pre- and post-stays. Our TA sent the info to us while we were away about our options. She checked with DCL and you can use DCL transfers for 3-days prior and 3-days post cruise. So that helped us narrow down what we wanted to do. She also got the per-night charges for the DCL hotels. We had hoped to stay at the Renaissance pre-cruise and try the Park Plaza for post, but the Park Plaza is enough more money that it pushes the limit... as it is, instead of doing three and three, we'll do three days pre- and two days post-cruise at the Renaissance (assuming it's available).

We also went ahead and booked air, although I remember from the Med that we had an option of dropping the air if we decided to do our own air travel -- the price difference between cruise and cruise+air is relatively close right now for what a July 2009 fare would be for us. But not knowing how fuel prices and other economic things will go that might have an effect on the cost of air travel, we plan to just keep watch and see what happens when the window opens for booking our own air (what is it generally? eleven months out?)

As for why we picked the cruise with Helsinki, my grandmother was Finnish, so I would like to see her homeland. And whenever my children have "heritage projects" at school, we always pick Finland because it's what they are "the most of." And timing works out well with having the 4th of July for a paid holiday with work.

Kristen (DISTeach) - it's good to see ya posting here, too!

DadofLostBoys - there was a rumor you'd be joining us! I hear you have a great reputation for doing cruise shirts and setting up with cafe-press and noticed you're ready for us in your sig! Thanks so much for taking the lead with this!

Hope you all have a great week ahead! We're working the math this week to get our bi-weekly $$ figured out for saving up for this cruise... so I'll be crunching numbers.

I'm also glad! In addition, it's nice that DCL can get any excursion kinks out before we get there!

This is exactly why we didn't choose the first one in the Baltic, and why we waited til later in July for the Med when we did it last summer.

I am going to see if we can't figure out how to do a logo. My DH just brought up that it is odd to have Pirate Mickey for a Baltic logo. The pirate seems to be more for the Caribbean.

I do really like this logo though and I really appreciate the time and effort that went into it! I just want to see if we can figure something out. I am not holding my breath though...

Threebritts - My fil works at All Children's. At one time both of my in-law's and my DH all worked there... small world! I know you weren't referring to that particular hospital, but I thought I would throw that out there! :)

I have alot of friends that work there and Bethany was there for the first 10 weeks of her life! I give them alot of kudos, I love kids but just cant do pediatrics! Hubby and I work at Largo Medical center, not sure if you know were that is?
Funny the things that come up when you start thinking about this cruise. I had some friends over tonight for a scrapbook and stampin up party and we got to talking about cruise and the time changes and what they were in all the different countries( this is without any alcohol too LOL).I said well with working nights im so screwed up on time now that I dont think it will even effect me.
