July 5th Dream

Okay, I have been out of it for a while. Work has been crazy and my mind has been elsewhere. After paying my final payment, it hit me; we are sailing in 2 months!!! Where did the time go?
Now I'm stressed! What is our final FE count? I need to get working on my gifts!! I feel like I have missed so much. I read a post where someone said their dinner starts with AP so they knew when to make Remy reservations. How did you find out your rotation?
Can someone please catch me up?

Thanks,
Jill

Does that count if you only paid the remainder and not the deposit?
Thanks.

i believe you have to pay the ENTIRE cruise with your disney visa. but you could still call and ask just to see and they might credit your original deposit and put it on your disney visa and then give you OBC?

Hi Jill,

Right now the FE count is at 16 but I think there are some still on the unconfirmed list. If anyone else wants to join in, it's not too late.

Codyboy, thanks for the reminder on the Visa credit. My TA has dropped the ball on my trip so much that this reminded me to call her in the am and make sure that the credit was applied. I have felt like the TA for this entire trip not her. Grrrr.

Is that 16 cabins? Or people? Where is the other thread located ? May think about changing back to join.

I;m sorry, that's 16 cabins. I'm doing a cabin gift so I don't think in terms of # of people.

Here is the link http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2457604

Okay, do you have the gifts delivered just on ONE certain day, not every day of the cruise? so if a person did one gift per cabin you would just need 16 so far? I am still thinking it would be fun to do this, but I am sOOOO intimidated by the people who have such cool ideas already, I am so not good at stuff like this!

I'm doing one gift on one day only but there is no set rule as to what you can do. Don't be intimidated at all. Make it fun. This is our first one and I'm not crafty but I love doing things for others so my DD and I came up with simple (and that's the key for us) ideas that cost next to nothing but are things that we think everyone will enjoy. You can make is as simple or elaborate as you wish. A postcard or magent from you home state is cool or candy specific to where you are from can work. Even small bottles of sunscreen or hand sanitizer from the dollar bin are great and useful too. No one will judge and it's not a competition. Just do what works for you. From what I have read in various threads most people don't even put their names on the gifts anyway, the element of suprise can be fun too.

Hi Jill, I originally put the deposit on AMEX. MY TA got that credited and put the deposit along with final payment on my disney VISA. I got the OBC.

FWIW, it looks like some cabins have opened up on this and all the July sailings. Nothing, or very little, has been showing on the disney web site for a while, but when I checked today, there was availability for most of the 5-day itineraries in July. Mostly the high end categories -- cat 5 or above.

There's a also a royal suite available for July 10, if anyone is interested. It's only $18k for a family of 4.

There is a Royal Suite available? Only $18,000? I won't lie, it would be nice, but I think my daughter going to college is going to have be more important at this point. If only she would buckle down though and get some scholarships so mommy can spend more money on herself!

Just gotta love those doctor offices!

Took my mom in today for her appointment to confirm her knee replacement and book a date for surgery - or so I thought!

Sure, we confirmed her surgery, but did not book the date. Apparently, someone else will call me in the next 5 days to confirm a date. Do these people not realize that I want to know what is happening so I know if I am going on my cruise? The world revolves around me and my desires, don't ya know! ;)

So I wait again to see when surgery will be. At this point, the doctor says about 4 - 6 weeks away, 4 days in hospital, 2 weeks in a rehab facility, another 4 weeks at home with rehab. For this to work, I need surgery to take place around June 20, as I don't wish for the rehab facility to be done with her while I am sunning on a beach!

On a funny note - I called DCL to see about getting the $50 credit onto my account, since I paid with my Disney Visa and completely forgot to add it on. Well, they wanted to talk to my TA, but I AM the TA! The rep seemed to think that since I was the actual TA, and booked my own trip, that the credit would not apply, but I didn't book a TA rate, I booked full rate just like my clients do (I like to pick my own room, and also don't want to run the risk of being denied boarding at the last minute because a full-fare paying customer books that last room).

I will call back later and hope to get someone else. After all, $50 is $50! That's like, what, 8 or 9 drink-of-the-days!

The weather here is so not cooperating with my fitness plan. It is rainy, thundering, thinking of raining, or spitting rain. I tried to take a walk/jog/death march two days ago, and found myself in a downpour 10 minutes from my house. Luckily, my dog was with me, so she pretty much dragged me back faster than I could run. I need some rollerskates so my dog can take me places! Now that would be a Castaway Cay 5k I would love to do!

Has everyone bought their trip insurance yet? I completely forgot! It is on my list today.

I did, however, buy some food at Costco already for the drive down. I really feel in trip-mode when I start amassing my supplies! Shopping is certainly part of the fun for me, and I so love road trips because I get to load up the car. Flying just isn't as exciting for me. Plus I am convinced I am going to die when I fly, so that might have something to do with it! :rolleyes1

And now I am off to pick up my mom from Bingo. Keeping busy makes the days go by faster, at least I hope so!

I've done all I can do for the time being, so now I'm in Hyperwait mode.

Praying for a good surgery date for Luv's mom. Finalized hotel, Magic Express, and Cruise Transport. So here are the plans, and I'm not "planning" anything else.

July 2: Arrive via SW from Raleigh Durham at 12:30. Magic Express to Saratoga Springs.

July 3: Lunch LeCellier 12:45, Dinner California Grill 9:20pm to see MK fireworks.

July 4: No plans, totally open

Things I'd like to do: Kali River Rapids, Via Napoli, new Star Tours, check out the new Paddock pool, meet some of y'all, hang out, drink beer. Some of these I've never done, and some are vacation requirements.:lmao:

I'll post the cruise plans later. Anyone who is getting in early and wants to get together, PM me and I'll send you my phone number. We have annual passes so park meets aren't a problem.

Actually, it was closer to $19,000. I was pretty amazed. I knew they were expensive, but not that expensive. I hadn't seen one pop up before on line. It seems to be gone now, so I hope one of you lucky disboarders grabbed it.

At that price, leaving would be hard.

[Welcome Lisa702! So you were on the Dream before and are coming back? Good to know someone liked it well enough to return! It seems I have read a lot of complaints from service that wasn't up to par to crowds, etc. Hopefully everything is all worked out by the time we sail in July. :)

:[/QUOTE]

We had a great time. The service was good and maybe not as good as past Disney cruises we've taken but we had no complaints. My favorite ship is still the Wonder but the Dream was fun too with the Aquaduck! We have booked again for next March too! :woohoo:

:goodvibesCouldn't help it, too excited, I had to pop in again tonight to read what is new.

Lgcountry, I would be happy to meet up with you, or anyone! Getting the party started early would be great!

Our plans -

July 2 -5 Animal Kingdom Villas, Kidani. I have no clue what we are doing on which day, other than visiting our dog each day since she is going to be boarded at the Disney kennel. We are bringing her with us and staying on the beach in Cape San Blas, FL for a few days before we make it to Disney. Certainly if anyone wants to come with us to visit our dog, we won't mind! :thumbsup2 She is a beautiful, sweet, adorable plush-coated German Shepherd, and she loves attention!

Actually, California Grill to see the fireworks does sound great. I wonder if there are still any openings? Will have to check that out.

I was thinking of maybe just going to the Polynesian and watching from the beach, though it really is up to the girls and what they feel like doing, I suppose.

On the 4th, the girls would like to see the fireworks at Epcot. Me eldest, the one that is interning at The Land right now, was thinking she wanted to finish her stay with Disney at Epcot on the last night. I really thought she would be tired of Disney by now, but no, she loves it even more than before. That's my girl! :lovestruc

What's sad, though, is that we probably won't be back to Disney for many years, probably not until I have grandchildren. When we do go back, it will be different, not the 4 of us anymore, perhaps one will be doing something else and doesn't wish to come, or there may be a boyfriend or husband, something like that. I miss the days when they were little and everything was new.

Um, I must admit that this evening, DH, DD, my mom and I were all watching our video from the first time we went to Disney in 2000, and I am all melancholy. In case you all haven't figured it out, Hungarians are way emotional, hence the tears that I get when we hear the horn at sailaway. Not to mention the tears when we get off the boat, and you see the last DCL sign wishing for you to come again! That is one tough walk! I've never had tears getting off a Carnival ship, but leaving that Disney port is no day in the park for me!

Wow, I "talk" alot. Be warned, I talk more in real life.:scared1: Oh this is going to be fun! :lmao:

Well, crossing my fingers and hoping and praying and all your good thoughts must have been heard, for my mom's surgery is scheduled for June 14! :worship:

The date should be perfect, since I will be home long enough to see her through surgery and settled into the rehab facility. My only concern is if the rehab facility is ready to release her before we return home, but I am not going to fret over that, for everything else is working out so I will have hope that this will also work!

Worse cast scenario, I pay for her to stay in the rehab facility until I come back home. But I don't see them releasing an Alzheimer's patient, with stairs to her living quarters, to a home where no one is there to care for her.

This date was the only date available until mid-July, and I am just so grateful that it has worked out so well. I don't feel guilty, since I didn't have to put off her surgery, or cancel my vacation plans, the date was just there and perfect!

A weight has been lifted from my shoulders, and I am absolutely delighted! Now if only the weather would turn warm and sunny so I could lift the pounds!

Speaking of weather, I hope no one here has suffered any devastation from these storms through the south. Oh my gosh, the annihilation of whole towns is just terrible! :sad1:

My mom is convinced the end of the world is upon us. I am sure it feels that way for the people that went through the storms. I was only 5 when a tornado took off the roof of our townhome, but that fear stays with you forever. I pray the worst of the weather is over, and the rest of the spring/summer season is calm and pleasant for all.

And now I have to go dance around and really get into my vacation planning!:cheer2:

That is great news!!! And rehab won't release her until you get home! We should have a lot to celebrate on this cruise!

Hi All -
Just a quick update - I live right in the middle of the North AL - as you may have seen on the news, our state was hit hard by many tornados on Wed. Over 200 dead in our state alone. Power and phones have been out in our area since Wed. We have sporadic cell phone service. Gas is limited. My family is safe but please pray for everyone. It is very bad. Utter destruction everywhere. Thank you.

Oh Princess Bette, I am so glad you and your family are ok, but so sad that others around you are not. Experiencing a tornado is frightening beyond belief, I am so sorry you all had to go through that, and that so many lives were lost.

While we live about 12 hours or so north of you, so there isn't really anything I can do, but if you do need a place to stay to get away from it all, I do have room in the cold and windy north!

Of course, our weatherman said that the strong jet stream will be moving north in May/June, so looks like us northerners will be dealing with more severe storms. Plan your get-away before then!

All joking aside, my prayers are with you and your family. Take care of yourselves. :grouphug:
