July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

Our anniversary is 7/10. Looks like a few of us will be celebrating on board. I'm thinking dinner at palo for sure!

Very nice that there are so many anniversary DISers on the cruise. The only time DH and I ate at Palo he had such a bad headache that we were in and out in 45 minutes...We'll probably celebrate where ever our dining rotation takes us. (that and my DH's idea of a good time is not dressing up in a suit ;))

It will be great to see you both! Trying to get to 'gold' status on our Castaway Club. :goodvibes. We signed up for main dining. I can't wait to hear about excursions. Off to read the prior posts.

One year and two months to go!

We are early seating as well. We did switch to late for our upcoming July cruise because all our friends are late, but early works much better for us. We are platinum now and it does make booking really easy.

Our sons will be 20 so it will be nice that there are other young adults cruising too! I'm ordering a couple of the recommended books from Amazon to see what is in store for us. :thumbsup2 I couldn't even keep a thread going for our Mexican Rivera cruise. This is down right chatty in comparison. That sounds like fun! We've never seen Seattle or Vancouver. We'll need a first-hand report of a wedding on Castaway Cay. How wonderful! Is the cruise a week?

The book I have that I've been enjoying is Alaska by Cruise Ship by Anne Vipond. It has info on Seattle, Vancouver and the Alaskan ports. Still trying to figure out what excursions we want to do. Also go to www.travelalaska.com I got a really nice vacation planner from them and get monthly e-mail updates.

Our July cruise is a 5 night with two stops at CC. The wedding is the first CC day and we are looking forward to it. Then we'll just relax and enjoy the second CC day. We also go to Nassau but having been there, done that we're just going to stay on the ship.

Think about Palo Brunch for your celebration. We prefer brunch to dinner. It is more casual (Walt and the boys would be fine in Dockers and Polo shirts while a nice capri outfit or sundress would work for you). The food is great and the view should be fantastic.

You are Silver on your 2nd - 5th sailings
You are Gold on your 6th - 10th sailings
You are Platinum on your 11th+ sailing.

Alaska will be #15 for us.

Yes the boys can come to brunch as well - that is if you want them too. The great thing about brunch is that most of it is self serve so you can have as much as you want of any and all things. They do serve a plated entree which can be more breakfast (pancakes, omelets, etc.) or lunch (talapia, filet, etc.) Plus brunch comes with a glass of champagne - perfect to celebrate an anniversary.

we have never been to palo. we will celebrate ours with the normal dining rotation as well. we agree we don't care to dress up in formal attire to eat.

Good morning cruisers,
I started reading the Vancouver thread during breakfast and quickly was overwhelmed... guess we won't be bored if we fly in a couple of days early!

Good morning! I know what you mean Teresa as I've felt the same way. Right now our plan is to fly in on Saturday which means we'll have all day Sunday and Monday to explore. We're planning to go on a tour over to Victoria one day to see the gardens and then on another day maybe go up to Grouse (sp?) mountain. Of course plans can change a lot in a year. :)

Teresa & Mary,

I just wanted to let you know that I received your pictures. Thanks for sending them.

I have been very busy at work today :rotfl2: I have been thinking about ideas on how to organize our pictures. In the past I put them in Word and emailed them. But the file was a little too big and it took forever to send. So I decided to create a shared site on Shutterfly where everyone can see the pictures instantly. You don't need to have a Shutterfly account to see the site. If you want to be notified when new pictures arrive you will need an account. Here is the address to the site: http://mickeyswonderfulalaskanadventure.shutterfly.com/

Hi Lisa,
This is GREAT! We look like a nice group of DISers. It will be fun to be able to put a face with a screen name. It was really fun on our last DIS-filled cruise when we would pass on the ship and say hello or meet up on deck.

Hard to believe it's over a year away.

It's a beautiful evening in Dexter. Sunny and 64 degrees. Going to sit out on the patio and enjoy the evening.
