I think the odds are very good for us to see alot of wildlife.
I look forward to eating alot of salmon.![]()
Would you think me a copy cat if we did the same ones??
One thing I remember from our trip to Alaska years ago was the fact that it really never got dark at night, and we tended to stay up way later than we normaly would, and we always thought it was much earlier than it actually was.
We won't be as far north as that trip, but I did check and we will have lots of daylight for sightseeing.

Based on DD21's habits on the ship, I think she might see a sunrise before she goes to bed...
Hi fellow cruisers. We are a quiet group of late so I thought I'd share a passage from one of my new books (or I would if it wasn't copyright protected) My first book is The Alasks Cruise Handbook, a mile by mile guide by John Upton.
Let's explore our first port of call - Friday Skagway, Alaska 7:15 a.m. 7:30 p.m.
* did you know Skagway only has about 825 permanent residents?
* Upton says 'the shopping is great'
Best cruise-line shore excursions (might have been taken from my second book: Frommers Alaska Cruises and Ports of Call 2010)
Eagle Preserve Float Adventure (6 ½ hours, $207 adults, $115 children 7-12). This outing combines a fjord cruise (45 minutes to Haines) a leisurely raft float through the Chilkat Bald Eagle Preserve.
The handbook lists MANY more tours but no explanation. Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I'll post the other ports when we hit another lull.
Horseback riding (3 ½ hours, $160 for everyone, minimum 12 years old) Giddy-up on horseback to see the remnants of Dyea, once a booming gold-rush town, and explore the scenic Dyea Valley.
Skagway by Streetcar (2 hrs, $42 adult, $22 children 12 and under) This is as much a performance art as it is a historical tour. Guides in period costume relate tales of the boomtown days as you tour the sights both in and outside of town aboard vintage 1930s sightseeing limousines. Though theatrical, its all done in a home style, as if youre getting a tour from your cousin Martha. I saw a picture in the first book and they are charming
White Pass & Yukon Railway (3 hrs, $122 Adult, $61 children 3-12) The train makes two round-trips a day. The sturdy engines and vintage parlor cars of this famous narrow-gauge railway take you from the dock past waterfalls and parts of the famous Trail of 98, including Dead Horse Gulch to the White Pass Summit, the boundary between Canada and the US. Dont take this trip on an overcast day you wont see anything. The Upton books shows a picture of a train right up at the cruise port!
Yukon Jeep Adventure (6 hours, $159 adult, $105 children 12 and under) Retrace the steps of the gold miners along the Trail of 98 from the comfort of a four wheel drive Jeep Wrangler. Interactive headphones permit rivers in the convoy to keep in touch with guides as they describe the events of 98. The convoy passes all of the historic gold-rush sights.
Golden Glass-blowing experience (3 hrs, $207 Adult, $125 child, minimum age 7) Visit a working glass-blowing studio to learn how to blow or mold molten glass Youll get to create your own ornament, complete with 24K gold.
Ghosts & Goodtime Girls Walking Tour (2 hrs, $40 adults and children. Minimum age 16) Take a walking tour of Skagways streets and back alleys, led by a costumed Red Onion madam, and end with a champagne toast at the infamous Red Onion Saloon. Look out for the brothels resident ghost.
North Yukon Golf Experience (8 hours, $179 adults and children golf cart included) Head into the Yukon on the Klondike Highway, a route that runs parallel to the White Pass Railroad (and serves up amazing scenery, including deep gulches and mountain peaks) Your destination is a 9-hole, regulation par-36 course set at about 60 degrees latitude north, and surrounded by lakes, mountain, and forest. Lunch is served in the log clubhouse.
Hope everyone has a nice weekend. I'll post another port if we get another lull.

hope all is well with everyone. we are getting down to our last week of the school year here. got to know what it feels lik to be a pin cushion this week. that was no fun.my project list is growing but i can't seem to find what i want in fabric. just my luck.
What's everyone else up too?
I've been there with the pin cushion routine. Hope all is well.
We're counting down until our next DCL cruise. We sail in under 8 weeks. In fact 7 weeks from now we should be on the road to WDW for a short stay at BLT before the cruise.
Hope everyone is doing well. Before we know it we'll be at the one year mark!
What fun that you have a cruise this summer! Let me know how you like BLT. We are going to try and get into a different resort for our Christmas vacation. That one is on our DIS bucket list.
Teresa
Especially if the bacon is oh so crispy. We love BLT.
.....summerWe stayed there last Nov/Dec. in a studio on cash. We had a Magic Kingdom view that was wonderful and got to walk back from the MVMCP. We're staying 2 nights in a Bay Lake 1 bedroom this this.
What I like to say about it is you have to equate it to an apartment/condo in a downtown major city.Still love my Boardwalk home the best because Epcot is my favorite park but this trip we're going to see the Main Street Electrical Parade so looking forward to walking back home after a late night at the Kindgom.
We have plenty of time for you and DH to get a picture taken together!
You can start sending me your pictures now if you would like (lkc103@yahoo.com). Make sure you include your screen name and the names of the people in the picture.
