Good morning cruisers. Good day to dream of FE and crafts in Michigan. Really raining hard. May have to head to the book store for one of the suggested cruise books

Hello Everyone!
I just booked the July 5th cruise today
A little info about my DH and I:
At the time of the cruise DH will be 55 and I will be 54. It will be DCL cruise #13 for me and #10 for DH. We love all things Disney and go to WDW a few times a year. Our last cruise was in April of 09 (Western Carribean) and we will be on a 3 night Wonder cruise this October for our 35th Anniversary.
I want to thank everyone who posted so much useful info on this thread, I love to read and plan for trips. We plan on flying into Vancover on June 2, and stay downtown near Canada Place. DH was in Vancover 8 years ago for a conference but had to rush back home due to me being in an auto accident, so he didn't get to sightsee.
We have been to Alaska before, 7 years ago, but it wasn't a cruise. We flew into Anchorage, rented a car for 9 days and proceeded to see as much of the state as we could!
It was a great trip and we knew we wanted to come back some day. We feel that since we'll be in areas we didn't see last trip we will be just as awed as that first time.
We'll be in a balcony cabin on deck 7 aft. That is our favorite location, for many reasons I'll probably share later.
Here's a photo of the two of us at the Talkeetna airport about to take a sightseeing flight around Denali.
Welcome! We will probably fly in on the 2nd of July as well and perhaps see if we can stay in Vancouver with our DVC points.
My travel agent said, after working up our cruise quote, "I'll say this very softly...you could get a cheaper rate on another cruise line..." We didn't even have her look.![]()

One thing I remember from our trip to Alaska years ago was the fact that it really never got dark at night, and we tended to stay up way later than we normaly would, and we always thought it was much earlier than it actually was.
We won't be as far north as that trip, but I did check and we will have lots of daylight for sightseeing.

I don't expect to see many sunrisesI hadn't even thought about the lack of darkness.
Thanks for those! I knew that we'd have long days but didn't realize sunrise would be that early.
I know! I love watching a sunrise at Sea but those are too early even for me.![]()
Have any of you seen the movie Insomnia? The one set in Alaska with Al Pacino, Robin Williams and Hillary Swank? A great suspense movie set in Alaska, it had scenes where Al went crazy with the light coming in the window all night. I know how he felt, it was weird for us, esp. when we were in Fairbanks as it really did not get dark there at night.
But living there in the winter I'd truly go mad with it dark 19 hours a day!
Has anyone been thinking about excursions yet? I think I'd really like to ride the White Pass Train excursion in Skagway. We love old trains, and this one looks like it has scenery to rival the Durango-Silverton Train in Colorado, which is our favorite.
In Ketchikan I'm leaning toward a flightseeing/cruiseboat tour into Misty Fjords. We did a day cruise out of Seward back in 2003 to Kenai Fjords NP
and got really close to glaciers and saw whales, sea lions, puffins, etc.
Not sure about Juneau yet!

Thoes all sound like fun! Any idea in price for the ones you are leaning towards? Would you think me a copy cat if we did the same ones??
