July 5, 2011 - Mickey's WONDERful Alaskan Adventure

Hi everyone. Facebook would be a great if anyone would like set up a group. We would like to do the FE's. There are ten in my group. 6 adults, 4 kids ages at sailing 3 girls, 7, 7, and 10. One boy, 15. We are in #8088, and my parents are in #8102. Will have to find out my brother's room, but it is near ours.
We just sailed on the Magic Western Caribbean April 3, and can't wait until our cruise on the Wonder!

Tracy - saw your comment on the main board about going for tea every morning. I answered there but will answer here as well if anyone is interested. On our last cruise (the 2009 DVC Member Cruise) there were a number of us who called ourselves the sunrise club. We are the early birds who like to be up and about before our spouses and families. We'd meet up by the drink station and have our drink of choice (mine was tea, others had coffee, and still others brought thier own Pepsi). We'd sit and chat until the sun came up and our families were up and ready for breakfast. It was a great way to connect and share our memories of the day before. So if anyone is interested in meeting up for a nice cup of tea I'm game (of course we may have to move it into the Cove Cafe if the weather is cool in the mornings).

Wow, this sure does sound like a fun group!!!

I can send photos of DH Mark myself Patricia DMI Pat DD Jenna 15

Patricia what parts are you in for? the meet/greet, FE exchange, any and everything? :rotfl2:

After doing some mapping we decided that flying is the best option for us. Now to determine if we fly into Seattle or Vancouver. We're leaning towards Vancouver at this point. Flying in on Saturday (either way) and spending Sunday and Monday exploring Vancouver/Victoria.

We're coming too! Always wanted to see Alaska and now with the Wonder sailing there it's going to be awesome. :goodvibes

Cruising with be DH, me, and our sons who will be 20 when we sail. It also happens to be our 24th anniversary during the cruise.

The big change for us is that we are putting our boys in an inside cabin to save some money. We have booked cabins on deck 6. My hubby told them the "All Hands on Deck" platter tastes the same whether you can see outside or not :goodvibes

Now I need to go and look at the other eight pages of posts so I can get to know my DIS ship mates. I know Mary and Mark from our 10-day Christmas cruise. It will be nice to meet on the high seas again. :thumbsup2

So excited :woohoo:

Woo Hoo! I'm so excited you guys are coming! Haven't seen you in forever!

It will be great to see you both! Trying to get to 'gold' status on our Castaway Club. :goodvibes. We signed up for main dining. I can't wait to hear about excursions. Off to read the prior posts.

One year and two months to go!

We are in!
DH and I, my sister, DD22 and DS19 (at time of cruise)

Can't Wait, working on gathering the rest of the cousins to join us for a Big Celebration! Hope theres tons for the College Bound group of youngsters.
:teacher:

Looks like y'all have sailed disney quite a bit. How can I convince my DD that there will be lots of fun for her age group, she'll be 18 at sailing. DS will be 20. He is more the Disney nut than she is.:cheer2:

Our sons will be 20 so it will be nice that there are other young adults cruising too!

We can't wait to see what kind of excursions Disney will be offering. This will be our first time to Alaska so we will want to see EVERYTHING!!!!!

I'm ordering a couple of the recommended books from Amazon to see what is in store for us. :thumbsup2

This does seem to be a quiet group compared to some. My last cruise (the 2009 DVC Member Cruise) went to 4 threads in less than a year. Of course other past cruises I've been on have been even more talkative. They didn't call us the blabbermouths for nothing!

Actually, I think we're fairly talkative! I was on the Wonder in August and the thread was very, very quiet! Hardly any posts at all. So it's nice to see all the posts on this thread and that people are so good at sharing information already!

I couldn't even keep a thread going for our Mexican Rivera cruise. This is down right chatty in comparison.

Planning 10 day vacation: Fly direct into Seattle (non-stop) :hippie: and hang out Sat, Sun in Seattle, then on Monday take 6:30am train from Seattle into Vancouver and stay at hotel near terminal Canada Place for one night, board ship earliest possible boarding on Tuesday :yay:, then fly home from Vancouver the following Tuesday.

That sounds like fun! We've never seen Seattle or Vancouver.

No - DH and I don't have any kids of our own.

The bride is the daughter of a fellow DISer we met back on our 2004 10 day cruise. She was 16 at the time. We sailed again with about 8 of those families in 2006. She was then 18 and joined us for Palo Brunch. In 2008 she got engaged while on a Mexican Riveria cruise (my DH and I missed that one) and she's getting married on Castaway Cay this July. There are about 5 families that have cruised together before going for this wedding/reunion cruise.

We'll need a first-hand report of a wedding on Castaway Cay. How wonderful! Is the cruise a week?

An fe is kind of like a secret santa type thing. you put a bag on the fish outside of your stateroom and each day those that participate will put something in each others bags. there is a thread on the boards for a better explaination of it. just do a search for fe or Fish Extenders. unless one of the others on here have it off hand.

ours is 7/7 well yeah an alaska cruise even better. :cool1: last cruise we went in may and celebrated dd birthday on the cruise. not that we do much anyways just the thrill of getting to see alaska and being on the disney cruise at the same time is enough of a celebration for me.

I agree! We celebrate at the beginning and the end of our cruise. I've heard of Fish Extenders! Now I have to figure how to make one ;)

Any excuse is a good excuse for a Disney cruise! :lovestruc

Our anniversary is 7/10. Looks like a few of us will be celebrating on board. I'm thinking dinner at palo for sure!
